Judge Alito to Obama-”Not true”

Kind of like “You lie”, but kinder, gentler

via Washington Post;

Obama took issue with a ruling that overturned two of the court’s precedents and upended decades of restrictions on corporations being able to use their profits to finance campaigns for and against candidates.

It proved to be a striking State of the Union moment: With six justices seated in their black robes directly in front of him in the House chamber, Obama said: “With all due deference to separation of powers, last week the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that, I believe, will open the floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections.”

As Democrats applauded, cameras showed the justices sitting expressionless. Except Alito.

“Not true, not true,” he appeared to say, as he shook his head.

Also possible that Alito was actually disagreeing with the details as Obama laid them out;

…Justice Alito shook his head as if to rebut the president’s characterization of the Citizens United decision, and seemed to mouth the words “not true.” Indeed, Mr. Obama’s description of the holding of the case was imprecise. He said the court had “reversed a century of law.”

Either way, I’m sure Democrats will have no problem finding “evil corporations” to donate to their campaigns, no doubt in the hope that they’ll be eaten last.

    Interesting that That One would whine about foreign donations being “legalized” (the Citizens United decision did no such thing). If I recall correctly, there was absolutely no transparency in the online donation system maintained by That One’s campaign. In fact, all of the verification controls were deliberately turned off. We will never know how much he raked in in unlawful contributions from non-citizens. If you ask me, Justice Alito’s words apply in full to the whole dang sorry episode known as the 2010 State of the Union.

    that has permeated our BEAUTIFUL Country since the year 2000 with a ramp up in 2004 and beyond however this LAST piece of RANCOR whereby a President admonishes our Supreme Court Justices in his State of the Union just goes to show that there will be NO TURNING BACK to the civility that WE once had in this country and that EVERYTHING is on tap to be thrown at and utilized to make sure that the House will be Republican in 2010 and that the Senate and Presidency will go Republican with Conservatives at the helm in 2012!!!

      Obama, with his 40 some Czars, has all but rendered the Congress ineffective and neutered. They are his insurance in case Nancy and Harry do not succeed with his Progressive agenda. He now has his sights set on the doing the same to the Supreme Court Justices. If they don’t retire, or die off soon enough, he will go to plan B, along with his corrupt Atty General Holder. With the McCain-Feingold decision, it said more about “free speech” than it did about campaign finance reform, and for that, they will pay. In order for him to succeed in his takeover of the US, he must squelch any dissenting voices. Like he said last night- “He does not quit” and, that should be the biggest fear rattling the nerves of every American.

    In a post on NRO, Professor Bradley Smith had this to say:

    The Court held that 2 U.S.C. Section 441a, which prohibits all corporate political spending, is unconstitutional. Foreign nationals, specifically defined to include foreign corporations, are prohibiting from making “a contribution or donation of money or ather thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State or local election” under 2 U.S.C. Section 441e, which was not at issue in the case. Foreign corporations are also prohibited, under 2 U.S.C. 441e, from making any contribution or donation to any committee of any political party, and they prohibited from making any “expenditure, independent expenditure, or disbursement for an electioneering communication… .”

    but that the Dems would applaud when he did, speaks to a more disconcerting and darker picture. Reverse, if you will, if he had slammed the Dems or the entire Congress, and the Justices had stood up and clapped…..

    Glad to hear the music and support for the Senate Conservatives Fund. Maybe sometime you can post your original video with it.

      What I heard was that when Obama said what he did, that Shumer, who was sitting right behind Alito, clapped in Alito’s ears, and then stood up with the wild applause from the Dems. Of the little I saw (I couldn’t take the lies after only a few minutes), Holder came down the aisle, and, completely ignored the Justices. I saw Roberts turn to him smiling, and, Holder never even acknowledged him. Holder spent his time chatting with someone across the aisle. More than anything from last night, I was sickened by the treatment that the Justice’s got. As Drudge posted this morning- Democrat anger on national display.

    He is declaring war on America.

    Can you imagine if Obama gets a couple more SCOTUS appointments?

        has already had major health problems. In addition, she is a Liberal, and, I can see her retiring to give him another younger life-long pick while he has the chance.

    Never mind – it’s probably happened already,

        I thought they wanted to impeach Obama….but no

        they want to impeach Alito!….or CENSURED for violating “Decorum”

        “…because a lot of respected people think he’s committed a treasonable offense.”

        it’s the reality-based community, stupid…….ROTF

    is basically what our larger than life President said directly to the Court in front of the entire country. A beer summit will not undo the damage that this President and his little friend Eric Holder are doing to this country.

    The implications of his arrogance are beyond anything that I could have thought would have come out of his “campaign speech” last night. President Messiah wants to VETO Supreme Court rulings. I feel sick to my stomach.

    “We?ve decided, actually, to make defeating Chuck Schumer one of our goals in 2010. That means we?ve now got three of our berths filled on what races we will be actively engaged in:

    (1) All-in to re-elect Michelle Bachmann so she can replace Pelosi as Speaker

    (2) Defeat Barbara Boxer, even if a paper bag or a Muppet ends up getting the nomination against her. Whoever is the Republican nominee is not Barbara ?Call me Senator!? Boxer, and that?s good enough for us.

    (3) Repay Chuck Schumer for what he did to Hillary. Read Game Change and see why.”

    They’ll go all in for Kudlow against Schumer.

    Town Hall question for Obama: Did the White House give the Chief Justice a courtesy advanced transcript of this portion of Obama speech? If not, why not?
