Director James Cameron sent back to Hollywood by “Gracious Morons” at BP

I think James Cameron is the real moron here

Apparently, Hollywood director James Cameron of “Avatar” and “Titanic” fame couldn’t contain himself when he saw the Deepwater Horizon disaster unfolding.

Jumping up and down in his living room in front of his big screen TV, obviously thinking “Hey! I know all about this underwater stuff!” he came to a realization;

“Over the last few weeks I’ve watched, as we all have, with growing horror and heartache, watching what’s happening in the Gulf and thinking those morons
don’t know what they’re doing,” Cameron said at the D: All Things Digital conference sponsored by The Wall Street Journal near Los Angeles. [My emphasis all]

So, having shot underwater movies with remote cameras, he’s met a few people;

“Wait a minute, I know a lot of smart people in deep submergence,” Cameron said he thought as the Gulf crisis deepened. “Why don’t I just get all these people that I know together for a brainstorming session?”

So Cameron had a get-together with a lot of folks savvy in deep-sea robotics last Tuesday at EPA HQ (seems nobody from that agency was in attendance, however), Cameron bubbled “We’re writing it all up and putting it in reports to various agencies,” no doubt excited at being able to “help” head off the oil spill disaster.

Unfortunately for Cameron, Obama doesn’t seem to care that he wants to “help”, and BP decided they really didn’t need James Cameron;

Cameron said he has not been in touch with anyone from the White House, and that earlier proffers of assistance he had made to BP were rebuffed.

“They could not have been more gracious but they basically said, ‘We’ve got this,’” he said.

At this point I had to ask; what the heck is this Cameron guy even going to be able to do, besides get in the way.

Turns out, he wanted to get in the way;

Cameron said one reason he hoped his offer of access to private film-equipped deep-water vehicles would be taken up was to more accurately convey what was happening under water.

“The government really needs to have its own independent ability to go down there and image the site, survey the site and do its own investigation and monitor it,” Cameron said. “Because if you’re not monitoring it independently, you’re asking the perpetrator to give you the video of the crime scene.”

Oh, so James Cameron’s idea of “help” for the oil people with their hands full on a spill disaster site with tossing seas, boats and ships coming and going, and rigs working, was to set up cameras of his own in the middle of all that activity?

He wanted to make a friggin movie??

Since James Cameron is such a smart guy, why doesn’t he do this; since he already seems to have the script and a list of “bad guys” in his head, do a CG movie depicting what he thinks is going on under the waves. Nobody on the left or in the LSM seems to care about the truth anyway. Besides, he can stick with his “ten years between epics” schedule, and stay out of the way of working folks who are actually
working to do some good by trying to “
stop the damn leak“.

Don’t you just hate Hollywood know-it-alls?

    “heartache and horror.” Glad BP sent him packing, and you’re right Erick, they already have the script written, they ought to be able to fake a few scenes for the camera.

    If Obama he really cares he would do something ! But he wont!

    He don’t care if the Gulf of Mexico is drenched with oil and all the eco systems are damaged and the oil drenched beaches ever open again!

    Obama doesn’t care if the fishermen ever have a clear ocean, once again to fish in and could care less if the fish that are drenched in oil stay that way! He also don’t care if the oil spill swings around Florida and goes up the east coast!!

    Obama is in utopia thats why he can’t understand what he is seeing!

    thought about it!

    They could have acquired the Navy’s HOV Alvin to repair the Gushing Oil pipe.
    It’s operated by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

    Human Occupied Vehicle Alvin

    Next they should have acquired all the fire boom boats that they could to burn off the oil.

    Lastly get the oil eatin bugs.

    This would help mitigate the oil on the beaches!

      this section after the fire boom boats.

      Oil vaccuming Should also be done.

    The dipwhip is probably organizing a flotilla to break the video embargo at the bottom of the sea.

    If and is is a big “IF”, Mr. Cameron has any ideas or equipment that can help, I would like to let him try. He and his Deep Water team has been deep and learned a lot about how to do things underwater. Not that BP hasn’t but the Government doesn’t seem to be bringing in real experts that have done anything like this at this depth.
    I say give big Jim and his team a shot at it. As long as they don’t get in the way or slow down any of the other efforts.
    By the way oil is a natural substance and leaks into the seas every minute of every day. The amounts certainly differ but the oil is handled by Mother Nature every day.
    This calamity will pass but unlike Prudo Bay this disaster is right in our faces. Don’t let this incident allow the Leftists to use this as an incentive to stop drilling and oil exploration. We need oil. There is plenty of oil yet to be discovered and plenty to fuel us into the next century.

      …ti’s not about “helping”, it’s about the furthering of a leftist agenda. He wants to make a “… video of the crime scene“.

      Can you even imagine the site? Thing it’s going to be a busy enough one as it is?

    clearer and clearer that he is fundamentally unfit to be President.

    He’s exhibiting classic symptoms of both megalomania and procrastination. I’m not even going to give examples, but all you have to do is read his comments about this disaster and compare them to his actions. Belligerent statements separated by social events. Patently absurd exaggerations about how much he cares, yet no ACTION.

    If John Kerry was Unfit for Command, Barack Obama is Incapable of Leadership. He’s wasted all this time since the explosion posing for his admirers, rather than getting a task force in place to attack the problem. Probably because he’s never been responsible for anything in his life.

    He’s no closer to creating that team today than he was 45 days ago, except that he’s named an Admiral to lead it. But he should have done that 45 days ago, and he hasn’t given it any marching orders, as far as we know.

      Obama “makes” will catch up to him. We’ll pay the penalty, and he’ll blame Bush.
