In a “safe” District? Need something to do to help take another House seat?

    When the campaign starts to heat up – which is literally around the corner, we’re going to need help with security…… Security for Mr. Sansaricq and his family from the likes of the threats coming from supporters of the CBC bigwig and way-too-long entrenched in DC filthy leftist Congressman Hastings who just might be capable of anything to stay in power.

    If you were down here or paid attention the last time Congressman Hastings had a legitimate challenger for what is known as “his seat in Congress”, you’d know exactly what I’m talking about by needing security.

    I clicked on FL-22, and it names the problem (incumbent) but says absolutely nothing about the GOP candidate (LTC Allen West (retired). What gives? I don’t understand the point. If I check that I will put a bumper sticker on my car or put up a sign in my yard, what will it say, “Dump Klein for the other guy”?

    I asked via their contact page why they had no information for LTC Allen West. They replied that they are looking for volunteers to help compile information for candidates They asked if I could pull together a short bio with issues, etc., re Allen West. So I volunteered.

    Here’s what I sent them (they wanted it to be under 200 words with bullet points — I think I failed the 200 words limitation miserably (I figured their crack editors would whittle it down if needed); all the verbiage comes right off LTC West’s campaign web site):

    Lieutenant Colonel Allen West (US Army, Retired) was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia and is third of four generations of military servicemen in his family. Moved to Broward County upon retirement and taught high school.

    * Combat veteran of several combat zones: in Operation Desert Storm, in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was battalion commander for the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, and in Afghanistan, where he trained Afghan officers to take on the responsibility of securing their own country.
    * In his Army career, Col. West has been honored many times, including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals (one with Valor), and a Valorous Unit Award.

    Issues:

    * Jobs and Prosperity: I believe in cutting federal spending, cutting tax rates, and restoring the military spending needed to keep America safe.
    * Peace Through Strength: We are a nation at war against a totalitarian theocratic political ideology that glorifies death rather than celebrating life. To defeat it, we must stay on the offensive.
    * Energy Independence: Now is the time to make America energy-independent by encouraging the indomitable spirit of American ingenuity and developing our full spectrum of energy resources. That means that we must invest in oil, natural gas, clean coal, nuclear, hydrogen, cost-effective bio-fuels, wind, and solar (research, exploration, refinement, and development).
    * Israel: Above all, the Jewish State needs stronger representation in Congress and a solid voice that will not be afraid to stand up to the Obama Administration?s appeasement of Islamic terrorism.
    * Social Security: Critical — we MUST restore it to the independent trust fund account.
    * Illegal Immigration: The Constitution has these three mandates; ensure domestic tranquility, promote the general welfare, and provide for the common defense. All three relate to the issue of illegal immigration, which adversely affect our economy, jobs, national security, crime levels, education, and healthcare.

    This is like “Political Activism For Dummies”!!

    Today is the 1st da’m jumping on of the rest of my life and I’m jumping o board.

    Also, I would like to thank ColdWarrior in general for all he does to beat the drum and specifically thanks to Eric B for this post. And of course, Kudos to the group of folks that have designed 40 seats! What a powerful tool this can be.

    If we rely entirely on individual campaigns and the national organizations (RNC, NRCC, NRSC) we’re gonna have longer faces than John Kerry.

    Grassroots organizing and success comes from grassroots people. Thanks for bringing this one.

    This is a good start, but a lot of supposed safe seats, aren’t. A recent poll had John Dingell of all people up by 9 points in a 62-38 democrat district.
