Still wasting time talking about Steven Colbert? Let’s talk about who invited him; Zoe Lofgren (D CA-16 San Jose)

Via Brad Blakeman;

Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert appeared and “testified,” Friday before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration. The comedian appeared as an “expert” witness on the plight of migrant farm workers at the express invitation of the subcommittee’s chairwoman, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.).

His “testimony’ was an embarrassment to himself, his country, the Congress and the entire issue of immigration reform. It amounted to nothing more than a bad comedic monologue.

Although I find Colbert funny at times on Comedy Central, I found nothing entertaining about his “performance” before Congress this week.

Democrats have a long history of a cult-like attraction and fascination with Hollywood celebrities. It is really quite pitiful. But this latest brush with “celebrity” is beyond the pale.

There is a big difference between courting celebrities to attend political fundraisers and rallies and allowing celebrities to mock government at the invitation of politicians charged with solving the nation’s problems — not creating Congressional carnival sideshows.

Nancy Pelosi LOVES to talk – but refuses to debate. Sensing a trend with scared Democrats here…

Interviewed on Fox News, Republican candidate for California’s 8th House District John Dennis would like to debate the incumbent Pelosi, but he can’t get a word in edgewise – because she’s afraid to face him in a public debate. Not surprising though, really, as Pelosi’s record is indefensible, and she really doesn’t want to be compared to a better candidate in public.

As of this writing, it’s been over six days since John Dennis asked Pelosi to debate;

San Francisco, CA — Congressional candidate John Dennis personally delivered a formal invitation to debate to the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, located in the new downtown Federal Building (California 8th Congressional District, San Francisco, CA).

The written debate invitation, which included a request for response from the Congresswoman by Wednesday, September 22nd, was accepted by a staff member and delivered to Pelosi’s District Director.

“The voters need to compare and contrast our positions on the critical issues facing the district and the nation,” John Dennis said. “They need to know why she has turned her back on our district and reversed her position on many key issues. Ms. Pelosi has never explained these reversals, ranging from her support of the Patriot Act to voting to continue the Afghanistan war to supporting bank bailouts. Voters deserve to see how we compare on issues that affect every citizen in our district. This can only happen in a formal debate aired throughout San Francisco.”

Murkowski and her phone shenanigans

I’m at 35,000 feet on-board an airliner recently departed from Austin, Texas en-route to Orange County Airport, California and there’s a lot of time to kill. I started by reading Erick Erickson’s excellent book Red State Uprising but I couldn’t just sit still, I had to be active doing something, besides I’m just too jazzed about the events over the weekend.

I’ll have to recap everything later, but one thing had me (and many of the rest of us) worked up and angry going into Austin for the RedState Gathering was the…duplicitous? Good word (at least I’m able to use it without cussing out loud), along with self-serving, and destructive to the conservative cause Murkowski switch to a write-in independent candidacy for the open Alaska Senate seat formerly occupied by her father, and apparently willed to her by birthright by same.

I’m not going to get into the right v. wrong aspect of the switch; frankly I don’t care what anyone else who chooses to implode over the event thinks, I know what I think of her for making the switch, and I have a serious problem with some people I used to respect for defending her decision.

One person I know who is most definitely not defending Murkowski for her switch is Erick Erickson. What I heard him say I’ll not repeat here, nor would I repeat it anywhere near my grandmother, but suffice it to say I wholeheartedly agree with that part I actually heard

Erick and Tabitha Hale were “conspiring” in the presence of Caleb Howe when the word leaked out Murkowski had a conference call scheduled shortly with lobbyists and others, and a plan was hatched live before a like-minded group of conservatives who had just heard the likes of Texas Governor Rick Perry, Herman Cain, and Nikki Hailey speak on conservative values and principles, none of which were evident in the actions taken by Murkowski over the last couple of days.

Meet David Harmer (Cand CA-11 vs. Jerry McNerney)

California’s 11th Congressional District in Northern Calif. covers parts of Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara and San Joaquin counties. the incumbent, Jerry McNerney, won handily in 2008 with 55.3% to 44.7% of the vote. Compare to today after the toxicity of the Obama/Pelosi/Reid trio;

Despite Representative Jerry McNerney having 93 percent name ID (with a 41 to 34 percent favorable-unfavorable rating) compared to challenger David Harmer’s 47 percent (19 to 8 percent favorable), Harmer currently leads McNerney on the ballot by a razor-thin 45 to 44 percent margin.

David Harmer, McNerney’s Republican opponent, is a big advocate for school vouchers;

Conservatives, want to elect Jerry Brown? How about Barbara Boxer?

I didn't think so

So why are we spending all this energy rehashing the primaries? We are, I’m hearing the murmurs from a lot of people in California who are definitely conservative.

I’m no fan of Carly Fiorina or Meg Whitman, and Poizner wasn’t sending thrills up my leg either, but that’s the breaks when money buys TV and radio ads, and the “Citizen Representative” of today can barely afford the TV much less the ad to put on it. Democrats get union money, and that’s just the way it is; it sucks, but there it is.

I am a huge fan of Chuck DeVore, I like him personally, and I really really wanted him to win the primary in June over Carly Fiorina.

Chuck DeVore graciously conceded the primary, and promptly endorsed his opponent Fiorina; he didn’t waste resources, and wouldn’t accept a write-in campaign. I wouldn’t have supported him if he had, as it would’ve simply gotten Boxer an easier win.

Some fellow DeVore devotees are to this day saying they won’t vote for Fiorina; her campaign so angered them they’d sooner write in Mickey Mouse than give their vote to her. What’s that accomplish?

It accomplishes a Barbara Boxer fourth term as Senator, period. Why?

When DeVoree lost I wondered “what the heck is wrong with this state?” Don’t these people see?

Well, no they didn’t see, and that was because it was rarely on television; money wasn’t there for DeVore to tell his story. Look at the money;

Here come the faux “Conservative” Democrats

With DOOM in November fast approaching, it’s funny seeing Democrats like Gerry Connolly (D-VA) scramble to appear “Conservative”, similar to the ones who just last year wanted to appear “Pro-Life”.

Democratic leaders in Congress still back Obama, but the willingness to raise taxes is waning among the rank and file as the stagnant economy threatens the party’s majority in the House and Senate.

“In my view this is no time to do anything that could be jarring to a fragile recovery,” said Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, a first-term Democrat.

More-

For the first-term Congressman who “rode the Obama wave” in 2008 to suddenly want to not be capsized by the bounce back from that same wave is hardly surprising. What’s going to be funny is how the Pretend Conservative Democrats will reconcile running against Bush, while at the same time supporting his tax cuts;

With the midterm election campaign heating up, a small but growing number of Democrats are joining Republicans in opposing a tax hike for the rich. While the Obama administration and Democratic congressional leaders favor extending George W. Bush’s tax cuts for couples making less than $250,000 a year, but letting the breaks expire for wealthier Americans, some moderate Democrats fear a voter backlash. Others say it’s unwise to raise taxes in hard times when we need people to pump money into the economy. Is Obama’s plan to make the wealthy pay more taxes collapsing? (Watch a Fox Business report about Dems and the tax cuts)

Yes, Dems realize Obama’s leading them to disaster: Bush’s tax cuts “sparked” the last “rebound for unemployment,” says Ed Morrissey at Hot Air, and, as Dems belatedly realize, “socking” people with a tax hike now will have the opposite effect. That said, extending Bush’s cuts is tricky for the Democrats — it thwarts their strategy of blaming Bush for everything — but, if they don’t, they’ll trigger another recession.
“How can Dems extend Bush tax cuts while running against Bush?”

Oh yeah, then there’s that One Thing about Bush.

Liberal Policies turn Venice Beach, Ca. into a cesspool-literally

It’s not just the economic downturn to blame for the hundreds of homeless people living in RVs for days at a time on the streets or parking lots in Venice Beach; the area has become a magnet for the homeless because the people in the area feel compassion for the “downtrodden” and people who through bad life choices or bad luck found themselves with nothing but an RV for a roof over their heads, if that. Hey, “There but for the grace of God go I” right?

Well, if you’re a conservative, your first thought may be similar to what mine was; “Yeah, but when you let them park and live in the streets, more will come. Where will you park?”

The problem to the answer began to surface a few years ago, but it’s getting to the point the local liberals are losing some of their “unbridled” compassion;

Oh yeah, Jerry Brown SURE has changed over the years…not. He’s hangin’ with Code Pink

Jerry still surrounds himself with trash

I first saw this over at Blackfive, and it made me angry enough to spit.

“Your son deserved to die in Iraq if he was stupid enough to go over there.”

Those were the chilling words yelled at Gold Star mother Debbie Lee by Jodie Evans and her Code Pink gang as they were trashing a recruiting station in Berkley, CA a few years ago. Lee had joined others in a counter-protest against the Code Pink action.

“Disgust” is a word that, while appropriate, doesn’t begin to carry the heft required to describe my feeling for anyone who would say that to any person who has lost a son or daughter in war – any war – whether I agreed with the war or not. And I couldn’t help but wonder if Evans ever said that to Cindy Sheehan.

Debbie Lee’s son, Marc Alan Lee, was the first Navy SEAL to lose his life in OIF. Lee has worked ceaselessly since then to honor her son’s memory by standing for our troops, thanking them personally – by the thousands – for what they’ve done and making sure “they have the funding, benefits, health care, respect, and support they need.”
More-.

Nasty women who, as MCQ says, always claim to “support the troops but not the war”. Well, can she explain why she hangs with the bad people of the world? I can; because to Evans and he kind, bad is good, and good people who sacrifice their very lives overseas are bad and deserve ridicule.

Calif. Proposition 25; The Unlimited Tax Increases and One-Party Rule Forever Act

We’re headed down the last lap toward the November elections, and covering all the conservative candidates we can find, even supporting “moderately” conservatives ones to stop the patently leftist ones from taking or keeping office. Unfortunately, times are desperate for California and the nation because we conservatives snoozed for far too long and it’s boiling down to November 2010; mistakes we make here in this election could spell doom for our state and country for years…we seriously may never recover.

Take Proposition 25 as an example, the “Passing the Budget On Time Act”. Democrats and unions know we’re sick of seeing California slide with no budget because “they just don’t seem to be able to get along in Sacramento”, and played on that with a fuzzy little title that will get voters thinking; “Oh, this is just what we need! Now they’ll have to pass a budget on time!”

Well, lets look at that for a minute; the reason the budget doesn’t get passed on time is the Democrats in of the legislature control want to throw as much money into whatever projects they can that will make the unions happy and get them re-elected. The GOP is too weak in numbers to stop any of this if it goes to a 51% vote scheme, and if Jerry Brown somehow gets the best of Meg Whitman in November, the door will be open to unlimited tax and spend, and the coffin lid over California may be nailed shut forever. Call it “fear mongering” if you want, but what hope will we have when the libs in California drive the tax paying population out to other states or countries? Think it’s not happening already? Read this and come back then, but we need to get the sad truth out there for our friends and family to understand, we are really on the brink here.

Meet Jeff Taylor, candidate running against “Oceans Grab” Sam Farr (D CA-17)

Sam Farr, called one of the “Most Dangerous Democrats“, has been in office since 1993-a long time. Too long, in fact. His voting record closely matches his affiliation with the American Socialists of America, one of grubbing for more government power, massive spending, with higher taxes to attempt to cover it. A real Nancy’s Boy, in other words.

Most recently, Michelle Malkin found him grabbing the living ocean from fishermen;

Democrats have tried and failed to pass “comprehensive” federal oceans management legislation five years in a row. The so-called “Oceans 21? bill, sponsored by Democratic Rep. Sam Farr of California, went nowhere fast. Among the top reasons: bipartisan concerns about the economic impact of closing off widespread access to recreational fishing. The bill also would have handed environmentalists another punitive litigation weapon under the guise of “ecosystem management.” Instead of accepting defeat, the green lobby simply circumvented the legislative process altogether.

In late July, President Obama established a behemoth 27-member “National Ocean Council” with the stroke of a pen. Farr gloated: “We already have a Clean Air Act and a Clean Water Act. With today’s executive order, President Obama in effect creates a Clean Ocean Act.” And not a single hearing needed to be held. Not a single amendment considered. Not a single vote cast. Who gives a flying fish about transparency and the deliberative process? The oceans are dying!

The panel will have the power to implement “coastal and marine spatial plans” and to ensure that all executive agencies, departments and offices abide by their determinations. The panel has also been granted authority to establish regional advisory committees that overlap with existing regional and local authorities governing marine and coastal planning.
More-

So not only does Farr advocate for bigger government, he doesn’t want to even debate it, just do it by Regal Obama fiat. Like fishing in the ocean? Too bad, Farr doesn’t, and you can’t either.

The left is all about separation of church and state, unless it’s “that” religion

Via Fox News‘ Bill Hemmer;

Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the mosque and now funded by your tax dollars in a trip to the Middle East, has an interesting resume;

In a 60 Minutes interview that aired on September 30, 2001, Rauf said that the 9/11 attacks were part of a larger Islamic “reaction against the U.S. government politically, where we [the U.S.] espouse principles of democracy and human rights, and [yet] where we ally ourselves with oppressive regimes in many of these countries.” “I wouldn’t say that the United States deserved what happened,” Rauf elaborated, “but United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened.” Rauf further stated that “because we [Americans] have been accessory to a lot of innocent lives dying in the world,” it could be said that “[i]n fact, in the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the USA.”

I miss having a Commander in Chief who respects us

Or even LIKES us

Even LIKES us

Via Hot Air

Whatever you say about George W. Bush (and his father, for that matter), at least he had utmost respect for his troops and gets max props for that.

Recently my former Commander in Chief surprised troops arriving at DFW with a handshake courtesy of the USO and SLANT 45;

Photobucket
As 145 American soldiers walked from their plane into Terminal D at DFW International Airport Wednesday morning, they were completely surprised to be greeted by President George W. Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush in a rousing SLANT 45 reception.

The crowd included military veterans, key members of Big Thought, the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee and a large group of shining faces belonging to the Patriots football squad from the Boys & Girls Club of Collin County.

Jeff Fegan, DFW International Airport’s CEO and the Chair of the Host Committee’s Aviation Action Team, also joined the crowd.

The Patriots, 33 of them ranging from ages 4 to 12, compose a winning football team in Collin County. And they have banded together under Regina Higgins, their Community Service Director, to form a winning SLANT 45 team.

Obama Propaganda Minister Gibbs may be about to “hit the slide”

Obama spokes hole Robert Gibbs has always had something of a tough job I think, anyone whose job it would be to sell the destructive Obama policies would. Anyone but a committed Marxist would. Having to spin the blatant lies being fed him from up top nearly daily would have to make one think about grabbing a beer, popping the door open, and jumping to relative mental safety. Add to the normal citizens of the United States being angry and demanding answers the left, impatient to see all their idiot wish list pushed forward immediately if not sooner, you’d get to feeling maybe trapped and even a little snippy.

h/t Stix

Photobucket

So it was when Gibbs sat down for an interview recently, it may have been forgivable (somewhat) when he unloaded a bit;

In an interview with The Hill newspaper in Washington DC, Gibbs revealed frustration at attacks on the administration from liberal Democrats and others on the left, in terms likely to make relations even worse:

“I hear these people saying he’s like George Bush. Those people ought to be drug tested,” Gibbs said. “I mean, it’s crazy.”

The press secretary dismissed the “professional left” in terms very similar to those used by their opponents on the ideological right, saying, “They will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon. That’s not reality.”

Of course, now the “professional left” (hey, we’ve known that for years they were largely paid hacks) are beyond being merely in an uproar at being identified as the “working girls” they are, and heads must roll;

Robert Gibbs should resign immediately. He just spit on the face of those who helped Barack Obama get elected and routinely defend him day in and day out against vicious smears from the right. Where did he come up with the term professional left? I thought we were the Cheetos-eating basement dwellers? Has Gibbs looked at all the polling data? As Chris Bowers pointed out, Obama lost 13 points of support from the Liberal community.

Hey, if the position might become vacant soon, I hear Olbermann may need a job other than destroying cable ratings. That is, I mean, when whatever nutwork he’s on finally gets tired of propping him up.

What is Jason Allen (Mi-1 GOP race) waiting for? Going to give up, recount, or pull an Algore?

A closer race you couldn’t ask for. Dr. Dan Benishek running against Jason Allen for the 1st Congressional District in Michigan, was up by as little as one vote on Tuesday with both candidates declaring victory, and up by as many as 12 votes as of yesterday (I’,m hearing thru the grapevine that it may be a 14 vote lead for Benishek as of today).
Yesterday Jason Allen was backing off his victory claim, but still hopeful;

DETROIT (AP) – Republican state Sen. Jason Allen of Alanson has backed away from an election-night claim that he’d won the 1st District congressional nomination.

Allen campaign manager Jeremy Hendges said Thursday the campaign is pulling back the claim based on unofficial vote counts from The Associated Press and the secretary of state’s office that put Crystal Falls surgeon Dan Benishek slightly ahead.

Early Wednesday, Allen’s campaign sent out a news release that said he was “honored to have earned the Republican nomination in the general election.”

Both the AP and state counts have Benishek ahead by 12 votes.

Still, Hendges says they’re “certainly not packing up shop by any means,” and the campaign is eager to see if the total changes when the votes are canvassed.

No candidate wants to throw in the towel too soon if there’s hope of pulling ahead, but at this point the totals are tricking away from Allen and he’s left with one real option; and expensive recount that would suck campaign funds from the eventual GOP nominee who will definitely need that money leading into November. Pretty sure there’s be no SEIU help for either candidate on the GOP side.

Another possibility would be waiting for absentee ballots, but they had to be in by August 3, so unless the Algore option is employed by one candidate; trying to get late ballots counted even though the rules are pretty clear they can’t be…what’s the hold up? November is right around the corner, and it’s getting time to gear up for that rather than waste more time with the primary.

Allen needs to concede and move on, or start thinking seriously about it at least.

Attention NYC Construction Trades

You’ve no doubt heard the crapola about the guy who want to build a mosque near the WTC site where many of you no doubt spent a hell of a lot of time picking through the rubble trying to find someone alive. Afterward, you picked through the same rubble trying to clear the site, finding parts of people who were killed by Islamic terrorists who struck at the heart of NYC with a dagger as they slipped their knife into the USA.

Like most of us, you were good and pissed off at those that did this to us. I’m sure most of you saw through the attempts by a few to blame the USA instead of the nutcases who actually hate Americans, and the other idiots who said “Bush ordered the attacks and Cheney flew the planes by remote control, and…and…never mind all the missing passengers and planes!”

You know who wanted to do us in.

Another “Border Skirmish” in the TEA Party War? Glenn Beck isn’t helping…

On Friday, July 30th, Glenn Beck had an on-air meeting in his weekly Refounding America show with the so-called TEA Party leaders in America (actually five Tea party leaders), four were in studio and one was by phone.

RightOnline 2010-The New Greatest Generation

It began in 105°F heat in Las Vegas, Nevada, and ended in what felt like 107°F “it’s a dry” heat. People from all over the country descended on Vegas; there was a Domino’s Pizza convention, a Deaf Poker Tournament, and a bunch of NutRoots gathering at the Rio Hotel.

At The Venetian Hotel, somewhere around 1,200 Americans gathered to hear conservative speakers, attend seminars on topics ranging from “Online Activism 101″ to getting out the vote by climbing onto busses and knocking on doors in the waning heat of a Las Vegas afternoon to pass out literature and help Nevada to Dump Harry Reid.

Sharron Angle was in attendance and gave a great speech, and mixed it up with the people as well. She was totally approachable, unlike some candidates who feel they need to duck in a side door unseen to avoid actual contact; Angle was about as real a person as anyone else there that weekend.

Another eye-opener speaker was FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell, who gave us all an education on what Neil Stevens at RedState has been warning us about for over a year, Net Neutrality and the power of the FCC to take away our free speech rights.

The real stars of the conference were, however, the people. The bloggers famous and infamous and the people who read them daily, all mixed it up not only in the halls and seminars but in the clubs at night. Many a conspiracy was hatched (I’m sure), and faces were finally placed with names and Twitter names.

The people; ordinary people with ordinary lives who saw their lives being turned upside-down in the very near future and rose as one in the form of TEA parties taking their next steps to genuine activism. Get out the Vote type activism. Sitting at call centers and ringing up local likely voters to explain that the situation we’re in as a country requires drastic steps, and pitching people like Harry Reid in Nevada was a good way for the local folks to start.

One “ordinary person” with guts (even in this economic/political climate she wants to start a new business) I met was Sue. Sue was called to stand up when Roger Hedgecock was speaking because he liked her Arizona shirt. Her I had to meet, and she was so outraged by what our rogue government was becoming in so short a time that she was moved to take political action and drove up from Arizona to learn how she could be more effective.

After the last event was over, as I dragged my bags down to the parking garage, I had to stop one last time and look around the casino.

“Do any of these people know what’s coming down the tunnel toward them?” I thought, snuffing out a smoke in an ashtray by a very intense woman playing slots. She didn’t even register that I had been there.

The words of Winston Churchill in 1940 about so many owing so much to so few passed through my mind, and I wondered how many more need to wake up to really turn things around here. I have the feeling we’re still in the beginnings of the struggle to set the country back on its course, and we’ll need many, many more to wake up and take a stand with us.

Now back at home, I finally have had the chance to hear Judge Andrew Napolitano’s RightOnline speech, and his words sum it up;

“On the 24th of July, in the year of our Lord 2012; 1,200 freedom-loving patriots assembled in Las Vegas, Nevada to celebrate individual freedom. Five years from now, will there be anything left to celebrate?

“The answer to that question is up to you; we know that it is a profound ‘Yes!’

“In the long history of the world only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its maximum hour of danger. You are that generation! That is your role! This is that moment!”

And he’s right; we are the Next Greatest Generation, and this is our moment. Seeing the “Shining City on the Hill” infested by those whose intention is on sinking it into the muck and dragging us all down with it, we make our stand as counter-revolutionaries to their socialist revolution. Grandmothers, teenagers, even member of the last Greatest Generation, all standing as one and saying; “No further.”

And that’s what I brought back from the desert in Nevada.

That and a raging headache-but the reason for that stays in Vegas.
