President Obama listened to Republican gripes about his stimulus package during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday morning – but he also left no doubt about who’s in charge of these negotiations. “I won,” Obama noted matter-of-factly, according to sources familiar with the conversation.

The exchange arose as top House and Senate Republicans expressed concern to the president about the amount of spending in the package. They also raised red flags about a refundable tax credit that returns money to those who don’t pay income taxes, the sources said.

George Bush: work with Democrats on No Child Left Behind. Work with Democrats on Medicare Part D.

Barack Obama: “I won.”

Someday elected Republicans will learn that Democrats do not like them, will not work with them, and that they play be their own rules… which often are ‘screw you’

Maybe today they did…

    On Glenn Beck’s radio show today………. I heard this, but through my “slight miffed state”, I forgot to post up about this right away this morning.

    The new stimulus package apparently has $600 million built in ……. Glenn’s quoting from something that’s listed in the breakout……….”to address shortages and prepare our country for universal healthcare”.

    The sentence in question is in the second paragraph of the article and at the bottom of Congressman Pence’s photo.

    I kind of need a “relaxing break” right about now, so I’m going to go to the indoor range for about two, maybe three full magazines and be back in about an hour.

    President GW Bush stood by his beliefs, what he thought was right, and was very humble.

    I guess that is just the first of the “change” we will have to live with!!! Thanks McCain and the liberal wing of the GOP!!!

    Obama – and Democrats in general – are anything but immature and crass. They are winners and they’re acting like it. And you know what? They’ve got every right to. They are going to jam their agenda down the throats of the American people and they’re going to do very quickly – we’re going to live in a NewWorld™ by May 30 – and there’s not a damn thing we can do about it. Even worse, there’s not a damn thing we’re likely ever going to do about it – see New Deal and Great Society.

    Instead of whining like a bunch of little girls we should be taking notes. And the next time a Republican majority shows up (probably not in my lifetime) lets hope they:

    • Fire every possible government employee holdover.
    • Cut every nickel of funding from Democrat activist groups.
    • Implement policy without asking permission.
    • Are absolutely ruthless toward members of the Republican Party who won’t toe the line.

    Oh and, just what the hell did you think was going to happen?

    The end should be obvious. To inhibit the D’s ability to mount an army of “volunteers” (see ACORN and federal funds) for starters. To inhibit the D’s ability to toss a money wrench into making government smaller by having government employees “slow things to a stop”. And, heaven forbid, to implement a conservative agenda over the howls of the D’s with total disregard for their opinion.

    We should be treating holding the WH and both houses of Congress as a monarchy and implementing OUR agenda ruthlessly. That’s what the Ds have done for the past 75 years and it works like a finely tuned clock. We should learn from their example and improve on it.

    That’s the problem. We don’t have an agenda and even if we did, we don’t have the tools (enough staunch conservatives) to implement it.

    And that’s why the Democrats keep winning. Good or bad, mostly bad, they have an agenda and stick to it.

    Most people prefer knowns to unknowns because you can at least make reasonable plans even if the knowns are crappy. Also, most folks prefer to align themselves with people who actually stand for something and Republicans stand for exactly nothing and haven’t since Reagan left office.

    Ds are crass and immature. I disagree, they are focused and very professional. They manage outcomes. They are anything but c&i. And that’s what we should be taking lessons on.

    A spoiled child is just as focused on getting what he or she wants and the methods used are very similar to the ones the Dems use… the parent usually gives in eventually just to get the kid to shut up.
