Middle Schooler Told To Cover Marine Shirt Or Be Suspended

Today a Genoa-Kingston Middle School student’s parent is claiming that a teacher ordered his son to cover his US Marine themed t-shirt or be suspended.  Dan McIntyre says that his son Michael has wore the shirt to school many times in the past and that he is a big fan of the branch of the US military.

Dan McIntyre says that, “A teacher noticed the guns on the shirt.”  He went on to say that the teacher said there was a school policy against the image of a gun.

Michael complied when the teacher asked him to turn the shirt inside out.  However, Dan says that he son was still reported to the schools principal.

Dan says that his son, “was really bothered by it. He talked to me after school about it. I said I would have supported whatever decision he made.”

(Note Dan McIntyre is involved with the Dekalb County(IL) Marines organization, and is coordinator of the Dekalb County IL Tea Party)

(As it was after business hours no Genoa-Kingston Middle School staff members where available for comment)

We ought to call that school until they comment. This is absolutely ridiculous, but I guess that’s a consequence of living in Chicagoland.

Why seek a comment, anything they say will be nothing more than silly BS. This is the world we live in, this is what our schools have become. They are staffed and ran by ignorant leftist who hate us, the military, the constitution (except when it benefits them), Christianity, guns, etc. Does not matter how stupid it sounds, they have the power. Not two weeks ago an elementary student was suspended because during recess he was playing military and acted like he threw a grenade to save his buddies. He even made sounds. Next thing he knew he was in the principle’s office getting ready to head home for good. He is now expelled and the school states that they have a zero tolerance policy for weapons, even fake ones and imaginary ones.

This kind of crap is what so many in this country wants as evidenced by two Obama wins. Get used to it.

We need to stand up against this kind of thing, else we get to the end of the poem and there’s no one left to stand up for us when they come for us.

Absolutely right, we do need to fight it as it is pure stupidity. My only point is that there is no reason to ask for their comment as it will only be a bunch of silly BS. There is no way to justify suspending a student over a Military shirt or expelling an elementary student for playing war with imaginary weapons.

What the parent’s need to do in both those situations is go in and demand that Principal’s ass on a platter.

Looks like it was just a teacher overreacting and overreaching: “Brett McPherson, the school’s principal, referred questions to
Genoa-Kingston Superintendent Joe Burgess, who reiterated that the shirt
is not in violation of the district’s dress policy,” http://nation.foxnews.com/war-patriotism/2013/02/26/student-told-remove-t-shirt-honoring-marines

“The dress code portion of the student handbook provided by McIntyre says that students cannot wear clothing that promotes “violent behavior.”

It’s a combination of zero-tolerance policies and the recency of the Sandy Hook shootings that probably prompted a teach to go overboard when they noticed the guns. Ridiculous, but you can always find someone to use literal interpretation of the rules (which were probably aimed at gang wear) to cause a ruckus.
