Why the IRS will never be brought to heel
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | May 16th at 11:18 AM |
John Marshall in the Supreme Court case, McCulloch v. Maryland: Daniel Webster, in arguing the case, said “An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy.” What we are seeing from the eruption of the TEA Party IRS scandal is the taxing power, or the taxing authority’s power, being used to destroy the political opponents not just of the Democrat party but of | Read More »
MIA- Environmentalists abandon Mother Earth for Liberal Ideology
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | May 6th at 02:37 PM |
One would think based on their anti-human rhetoric that environmentalists would be natural allies of those seeking to eliminate illegal immigration and dramatically reduce legal immigration. You would be wrong. Environmentalists are on record supporting abortion and demanding that people reduce their consumption of resources in order to “save the planet”, so it only makes sense that they would oppose the immigration fueled growth of | Read More »
Show Me the Money!
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | February 3rd at 12:06 PM |
Annual federal spending has grown to over $3 Trillion under Obama including the addition of nearly $800 Billion to the baseline every year thanks to the so-called stimulus. Does anyone have any idea on what we are spending all this money? The right thinking public is frustrated and alarmed by the massive federal budget, debt, and deficit but have idea where to direct our ire. | Read More »
Creating a stealth national gun registry or database
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | January 29th at 03:26 PM |
Supporters of the 2nd Amendment are rightly opposed to the federal government, or any government, creating and maintaining a national gun registry; fearing, perhaps rightly, that any such database will be the first step toward confiscation. Most people seem to believe that if Congress doesn’t authorize such a registry that one will never be created. I want to tell you how such a database can | Read More »
Rep. Womack (R-AR), not a conservative
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | December 21st at 07:59 PM |
I called my Rep. this week to ask that he not support Boehner for Speaker in the next Congress. Below is his response. I can tell now that this guy has to be watched as he seems to have the makings of a ‘moderate’ rather than a principled conservative. We can do much better than him in this CD. Thank you for taking the time | Read More »
Secession isn’t the answer, Federalism is. So says IBD.

And the chorus continues to grow. Investors Business Daily is the latest publication with an article on federalism.

Return to Federalism…says National Review
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | December 14th at 12:14 PM |
As many of you know I’ve been preaching the gospel of federalism for a long time as a way, the way, for conservatives to reclaim control over their own lives and to shrink the Leviathan. Slowly that path is breaking into mainstream conservative thought. Jonah Goldberg writes about a return to federalism today at National Review and Hot Air even posted it under the headlines. | Read More »
A Modest Proposal Regarding Social Security
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | November 30th at 06:53 PM |
We have heard for decades from politicians on both sides that Social Security was untouchable, that is was the 3rd rail of politics. We’ve also been subjected to claims from the Democrats that the program is hugely popular and that to propose even modest reform would bring on the wrath of grandma and grandpa. We are regularly subjected to tales of desperate seniors forced to | Read More »
Obama says “No” to Obamacare cuts in Fiscal Cliff Negotiations
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | November 27th at 08:08 PM |
Barack Obama, through his moronic mouthpiece Jay Carney, announced today that Obamacare isn’t on the table for cuts to avoid the so-called Fiscal Cliff because it saves money. It’s interesting, frustrating, and annoying that the federal government can take over part of the private sector, incur a large ongoing expense after doing so, and then make the claim that their takeover somehow saves money. Why | Read More »
The War is Lost – Time to establish a Red State Redoubt
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | November 26th at 09:08 PM |
Prior to the election I was rather sanguine about it because I honestly thought Romney would pull out a win. I did, however, think that it might be the last time a Republican would win the White House due, in part, to demographic changes driven by politics and not the American people. Since the election though I have become despondent and I have come to | Read More »
Forbes on Federalism
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | November 17th at 08:35 PM |
This is an excellent post on federalism by a leading financial magazine. Federalism, it seems, is finally getting the attention it deserves as a solution to our national challenges. Centralizing authority in a federal Leviathan which is no longer in any sense limited, has caused elections to grow more corrupt and increasingly contentious. Federalism lights the path to domestic tranquility.
Is Help on the Way?
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | November 10th at 12:04 PM |
We may be about to get a heavy hitter in the conservative movement to start the push for federalism and educate a wide audience about its potential…Mark Levin. I was listening to his Friday radio program and he said that we can no longer depend on or look to the federal government so solve our problems. He said he has no faith in the likes | Read More »
Dear Republican Governors, we need you.
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | November 10th at 12:01 AM |
With the unfortunate reelection of Barack Obama our chances of repealing Obamacare are close to zero. So now it is up to us and our state legislators and governors. When the states ratified the Constitution they didn’t agree to become subservient to the federal government. States still retain the rights and powers per the 10th Amendment even though those powers have been severely weakened from | Read More »
Todd Aikin is DONE
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | October 4th at 09:05 PM |

Will the GOP lose Indiana?
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | September 19th at 10:03 PM |
The WSJ is reporting that Richard Mourdock is currently trailing Joe Donnelly by three points in a state that Dick Lugar regularly won with 65%+ of the vote. They’re attributing this in large part to Lugar’s refusal to endorse or campaign for Mourdock. Is Dick Lugar really so much of a sore loser that he’d sacrifice the Senate seat to a Democrat? I hope the | Read More »

Mainstreaming Federalism!
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | July 5th at 07:56 PM |
Thank you Dr. Walter Williams! This movement is finally getting the attention it deserves. As I’ve said before, the federal government is not the final arbiter of constitutionality. The states, who created the federal government, retained the right to determine constitutionality. Disgusted with the GOP in DC? Then stop putting all your eggs in that broken basket and work to elect constitutional conservatives to state | Read More »

Can GOP Governors kill Obamacare?
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | June 30th at 06:35 PM |
With the recent announcements by GOP governors Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker, and Sam Brownback that thanks to the SC ruling they won’t immediately expand Medicaid we may have another opening to kill Obamacare. What would happen to Obamacare if all 26 states that were party to the lawsuit against PPACA were to refuse to implement exchanges and expand their Medicaid programs? Could they cause a | Read More »

Federalism and Congressional Term Limits
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | March 4th at 09:14 PM |
Over the decades there have been numerous calls for term limits on members of Congress. Those calls usually rise and fall with Congress’ approval ratings. The latest call for term limits comes from the Florida legislature, a measure supported by Jim DeMint. The public’s support and demand for term limits is a sensible response to arrogant, insulated, out of touch, and condescending members of Congress whose | Read More »
Why Federalism?
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | February 2nd at 10:21 PM |
Based on the vitriol being thrown around by supporters of the various GOP presidential candidates, it’s obvious that people are desperate to nominate and elect their candidate because they believe that only their candidate can save the nation from Obama. What this desperation tells me is that we have invested too much authority and too much power in the office of the president. In the | Read More »
Federalism Follow-up, the Repeal Amendment
By: DerKrieger (Diary) | December 27th at 08:44 PM |
I mentioned the Repeal Amendment in one of the comments in my previous diary. I finally dug it up. Enjoy.
