Mike gamecock DeVine

Biography:

A civil/criminal trial lawyer for two decades in federal and state courts throughout the South and presently with DeVine Law Vista in Charlotte/Atlanta, Mike DeVine was a SC Democrat party activist, county official including county chair and delegate to county and state conventions for over 15 years, until his June 2001 “conservative epiphany” after a move to Atlanta to accept a corporate position.

DeVine’s private law practice specialized in state and federal criminal defense work, complex civil litigation including medical malpractice and products liability, as well as Fair Credit Reporting Act challenges.

In addition to his corporate work in Atlanta, from 2001-2006, he was the Legal Editor and “conservative voice” of The Champion (Decatur, GA) newspaper, (legal organ for DeKalb County in Metro-Atlanta), where he was the one of first columnists in the nation, soon after September 11, 2001, to comment on the likelihood that captured terrorists in Afghanistan would be deemed to be illegal enemy combatants not entitled to Prisoner of War status under the laws of war. He also engaged then U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney (D-GA-4) in dueling editorials preceding her first loss of the House seat.

A regular blogger as “Gamecock” at Redstate.com for the past four years, DeVine also blogs under that moniker at Race 4 2008.com and is Legal Editor for The Minority Report/Many Faces of Barack and has served as the conservative voice for The Charlotte Observer and currently freelances for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His work has appeared in major newspapers and websites, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Hill, Instapundit and Hugh Hewitt and has been featured on PBS.

DeVine has been the Charlotte Law and Politics reporter for Examiner.com since 2008.

DeVine regularly writes about law, faith, politics, religious free speech, modern day conservative thought and policies and the Reaganite conservative principles and Judeo-Christian values and virtues necessary to save an America, as Robert Bork warns in his seminal book, is Slouching towards Gomorrah.

Conservative Voice of the Charlotte Observer for over one year and now Law and Civil Rights Examiner at Examiner.com.
