Christian (Orthodox Inquirer), conservative grad student attending Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. When I am not in college, I reside in Douglasville, GA.
I first got interested in politics during the 2000 election, but my real political awakening came on 9/11. I may have been young at the time, but I couldn't avoid becoming interested in how my nation conducts itself after that.
In my spare time, when I'm not dealing with schoolwork or following politics, I enjoy reading, photography, travelling, studying urbanity and architecture, video games, British comedy, and anime. Also, I love sports, specifically football (Go Atlanta Falcons!).

The Divide Between the Black Community and Black “Leaders” Illustrated Yet Again
By: Jake (Diary) | July 12th at 10:27 AM |
I haven’t posted recently, as I’ve been on vacation up in Yooperland dodging da Trolls dat live in da Mitten below da bridge. As my family and I were returning from Whitefish Point to the Soo, I encountered a nice story on my phone that merits mentioning. It has often been observed that the difference between the beliefs of the elites and the “rank and file” | Read More »
On Jonathan Krohn’s Defection
By: Jake (Diary) | July 3rd at 11:30 PM |
Promoted from the diaries Among the other stories that surfaced in the news yesterday, I found out that former 14 year-old conservative wunderkind Jonathan Krohn, he of the book Define Conservatism and the CPAC 2009 speech, has now defected. Though he asserts, according to Politico, “I want to be Jonathan Krohn…and I’m tired of being an ideology, and it’s not fun and it gets boring and it’s not | Read More »
On this “Natural Born Citizen” Issue, Part II: From William Learned Marcy to Wong Kim Ark
By: Jake (Diary) | June 21st at 01:06 PM |
Promoted from diaries. Having discussed in Part I of my series the view of Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution‘s “natural born citizen” requirement in the days of the early republic, and provided a digression on the role English common law played in American law, it is now time to look at how the clause was viewed in the latter half of the | Read More »

CBC: Calling Obama “Cool” is now Racist
By: Jake (Diary) | June 11th at 07:03 PM |
Promoted from diaries. I have to admit: I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous uses of the race card in the past four or so years, but this one might just take the cake. We’ve seen people using negative terms like “socialists” and criticizing Obama’s policies accused of being racist in some crypto way. However, this is entirely new to me. Calling him “cool” is now racist…wait, | Read More »

Saxby Chambliss Does the Right Thing, Re: SWATting
By: Jake (Diary) | June 6th at 10:12 PM |
I must admit, I’m happy my state has two Republican Senators, Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson. It’s certainly better than the alternative, whether one or two Democrats. However, there are so many times that I wish they’d give us conservatives more than what they’d do. So, for once, I am happy to see one of my guys taking the lead on an issue, especially one | Read More »
Taking a Second Look at those #WIRecall Exit Polls–And Other Things
By: Jake (Diary) | June 6th at 03:46 PM |
Promoted from the diaries by Jeff In their frantic attempt to glean something positive from last night’s shellacking in Wisconsin, we found the Obama campaign clinging (bitterly?) to the results of the exit polls. According to them, Obama was still beating Romney 51-45% in the state. Unfortunately, for them at least, they don’t even get this satisfaction anymore. Michael Barone has done the analyzing: It | Read More »

DOJ Not Even Pretending to be Nonpartisan Anymore
By: Jake (Diary) | May 31st at 06:00 PM |
I’d read something about this several days ago, but for some reason, I decided not to post on it. Now, it’s surfaced again. The Obama Justice Department isn’t even trying to appear to be non-partisan anymore (did they ever try in the first place, though?). Eric Holder is doing his best to scare black pastors into encouraging their congregations to vote for Obama using the | Read More »
Obama Wants to Redistribute Our Sovereignty with the Law of the Sea Treaty
By: Jake (Diary) | May 28th at 01:25 PM |
From the diaries by Neil One of the problems we find in politics these days is the rash of bills with rather Orwellian titles. The best example in recent years is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (you know, Obamacare). But fortunately, some things have titles that are all too appropriate. The Law of the Sea Treaty is one of them, which is rather | Read More »

English Common Law and American Law (A Digression)
By: Jake (Diary) | May 24th at 03:25 AM |
Promoted from Diaries. This post is based upon a comment I made on my earlier post. The person I was originally replying to was banned before I could hit send. I hadn’t intended to write this as a diary post originally, but at the suggestion of acat (and a little inkling I had while writing the comment as well), I am going to post it here | Read More »

On this “Natural Born Citizen” Issue, Part I: From Alexander Hamilton to Lynch v. Clarke
By: Jake (Diary) | May 21st at 09:48 PM |
Promoted from diaries. No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President… –Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution This is a passage that has weighed heavily upon us in recent years. There are those among us, known commonly as “Birthers” | Read More »

Open Thread: Margaret Thatcher on Public Money
By: Jake (Diary) | September 27th at 03:00 PM |
from the diaries by Neil As we debate just how much our government ought to be spending–and where that money should come from–I think it’s a good idea to reflect on the words of Margaret Thatcher on the subject of “public money” (of course, when is listening to Maggie a bad idea?): Open thread.
With the NV-02 and NY-09 Elections Done, We Need to Turn Our Attention to OR-01
By: Jake (Diary) | September 15th at 04:26 PM |
From the diaries by Neil This past Tuesday was a good week for Republicans and conservatives. We sent bona fide conservative Mark Amodei to Congress in Nevada’s 9th District, and wrested from the Democrats a district in the heart of New York City by pushing Bob Turner to victory in New York’s 9th. NV-02 was a Republican leaning district, and we won there in dominating | Read More »
Recount Gives Prosser a Lead in Wisconsin…For Now (With Updates)
By: Jake (Diary) | April 7th at 06:36 PM |
From the diaries by Erick UPDATE 7: Barring Democratic shenanigans (and they are still possible) I think it’s safe to say Prosser has won. This means that, as others have said, conservatives have been able to match a supposedly hyper-motivated Left blow-for-blow in a typically blue-leaning state with a strong history of progressivism and support for labor. It’s almost certain that there will be a | Read More »
