By: peteseat (Diary) | November 2nd at 10:17 AM |
This morning, Dan & Marsha Coats will cast their ballots at the Broad Ripple Park Community Center. The event is the culmination of nine months of traveling the state, listening to Hoosiers and soliciting ideas on how the United States Congress can better serve its constituents to get America back on track and Hoosiers back to work. Along the way, Dan has met people like | Read More »
Back to Where It Started…
By: peteseat (Diary) | November 1st at 11:20 AM |
Dan Coats began his candidacy for the United States Senate at Shapiro’s Delicatessen in February. It was also the final public stop of the primary campaign in May and will serve as the final public stop of the general election today. Shapiro’s is a family-owned institution in Indianapolis with three locations in the metro area and a slogan Kevin Costner himself could have penned, “Cook | Read More »
On the Road in Northeast Indiana…
By: peteseat (Diary) | October 29th at 11:06 AM |
Dan Coats is spending today traveling across Northeast Indiana, visiting with Hoosiers and encouraging them to vote on November 2nd. After calling-in to WOWO 1190AM in Fort Wayne this morning, Dan headed to Deister Machine Company to meet with employees and tour the facility. A photo is below. Among the reasons employees at Deister are feeling uncertainty is the impact of ObamaCare on their future | Read More »
Generation Debt
By: peteseat (Diary) | October 27th at 02:39 PM |
America’s young people are being sacked with unsustainable – and perhaps insurmountable – sums of debt as the Obama-Pelosi-Ellsworth Democrats continue their massive spending spree agenda. Dan Coats discussed the need to lessen this burden on America’s next generation during a visit with Indiana University students in Bloomington yesterday afternoon. Earlier in the campaign, Dan released his Plan for America’s Fiscal Health which would help | Read More »
“Coats is on point on all the issues”
By: peteseat (Diary) | October 26th at 11:54 AM |
The NW Indiana Times endorsed Dan Coats this morning saying, “Coats is on point on all the issues and seems able to reach across the aisle — something the nation desperately needs.” This sentiment was clear in the three U.S. Senate debates held over the past week. Dan shared his vision for the future – lower taxes, less regulation and reduced spending to get America | Read More »
Debt Skyrocketing Under Obama-Ellsworth’s Watch
By: peteseat (Diary) | October 19th at 10:15 AM |
President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and incumbent Congressman Brad Ellsworth have taken less than two years to amass more than $3 trillion in additional debt on the backs of future generations of Americans. CBS’ Mark Knoller noted yesterday that, “The National Debt stood at $10.626 trillion the day Mr. Obama was inaugurated. The Bureau of Public Debt reported today that the National Debt had hit an | Read More »
Ellsworth Campaigning with Biden After Unrealized “Summer of Recovery”
By: peteseat (Diary) | October 14th at 10:01 AM |
Back in August, The Hill reported incumbent Congressman Ellsworth hadn’t asked the Administration for help in his Senate campaign. Today, that will all change when Congressman Ellsworth runs to Washington, D.C., for a last minute campaign event with Vice President Joe ‘Summer of Recovery’ Biden to add cash from lobbyists representing special interests to his already record breaking coffers. (ICYMI: Click here to see the | Read More »
“Longest Stretch Since the 1930s”/Second Highest Deficit on Record
By: peteseat (Diary) | October 8th at 10:39 AM |
With today’s news it’s even clearer: the Obama-Pelosi-Ellsworth economic experiment has failed. Our economy has shed another 95,000 jobs keeping the unemployment rate at 9.6 percent and sending the broader underemployment rate – including those with part-time jobs seeking full-time employment and others who have given up altogether – up to 17.1 percent. What’s even more troubling is our nation’s “jobless rate has now topped | Read More »
FactCheck.Org: Ellsworth Claim “False” with “No Evidence”
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 27th at 09:50 AM |
You’ll recall last week incumbent Congressman Ellsworth made a charge that would be offensive if it wasn’t so laughable. In an act of desperation, he tried to connect Dan Coats to the loss of over 800 jobs at a now shut-down automotive factory in Wabash. The nonpartisan FactCheck.org analyzed the claim and came to a simple conclusion: false. Here’s what they wrote (emphasis added): In | Read More »
Coats Earns CCAGW Endorsement; Ellsworth Rubberstamps Pork Spending
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 24th at 09:37 AM |
The contrasts between Dan Coats and incumbent Congressman Brad Ellsworth become clearer every day. This morning, the Dan Coats for Senate campaign launched a third television ad. ‘The Choice’ highlights Congressman Brad Ellsworth’s support for Washington’s pork-filled spending spree agenda – including the Fiscal Year 2009 omnibus bill with over 8,500 earmarks totaling $7.7 billion added spending on the backs of the next generation of | Read More »
Indiana’s Jobs Deficit Over 100,000
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 22nd at 10:39 AM |
New employment numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics yesterday confirmed again the failure of the Obama-Pelosi-Ellsworth stimulus bill to stimulate anything but government jobs. Forty-nine of the fifty states have lost jobs since the stimulus passed (only North Dakota and the home of our federal government – Washington, D.C. – have gained jobs). Indiana’s unemployment rate remained steady at 10.2 percent with 34,100 | Read More »
Democrats Prepared to Cut Losses in Indiana
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 16th at 11:33 AM |
From today’s Wall Street Journal: “[Democrat] Party officials acknowledge their North Dakota Senate seat is gone, and they are likely to cut losses in Arkansas and Indiana soon, officials said.” [Disclosure: Pete Seat is the Communications Director for the Coats for Senate campaign.]
Obama & Ellsworth: Birds of a Feather
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 10th at 10:09 AM |
Incumbent Congressman Brad Ellsworth likes to portray himself as a conservative Blue Dog Democrat who bucks the party on the most important issues. Unfortunately for him, the facts of his voting record tell an entirely different tale and on jobs, the economy, health care and even immigration, he’s stood right alongside President Obama. In Dan Coats’ second television ad of the general election season titled | Read More »
Fact Check: Coats Opposes Amnesty; Ellsworth AWOL on Key Arizona Question
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 9th at 04:41 PM |
As predicted this morning, we saw more attacks from the desperate-for-attention campaign of incumbent Congressman Ellsworth. Lacking money to air television ads (Dan Coats’ ‘Judgment ’ continues to air on television), now-Congressman Ellsworth has in recent days resorted to offensive personal attacks against Dan Coats. Today the Congressman went another step by trying to change the subject away from his avoidance of the top question | Read More »
Setting the Stage
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 9th at 09:39 AM |
Something caught our eye in yesterday’s Indianapolis Star profile of incumbent Congressman Brad Ellsworth. According to the Star, “[Ellsworth] loathes publicly criticizing others.” In just one week, he has accused Dan Coats of “lying” and being “unpatriotic.” Sounds like Washington rubbed off on Congressman Ellsworth and criticizing opponents with offensive personal attacks has become second nature. Now he’s called an Indianapolis press conference for the | Read More »
Ellsworth Supported Bureaucratic Red Tape in Health Spending Bill
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 8th at 01:35 PM |
The Obama-Pelosi health spending bill supported by incumbent Congressman Ellsworth included a requirement that businesses submit an IRS 1099 form for every business-to-business transaction over $600. This provision does nothing to improve health care for Americans and only amounts to further burdensome regulations on America’s small businesses and is another example of “What Happens in Washington, Stays in Washington.” Congressman Ellsworth is now campaigning in | Read More »
Energy Solutions for Hoosiers
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 7th at 10:59 AM |
Energy affects all segments of our economy; therefore, Hoosiers are rightfully concerned about energy supplies not meeting rising demands. They believe in protecting the environment while not hurting business or costing jobs for the sake of misguided energy policies. They also understand energy independence will both strengthen America within the global economy and enhance our national security position. During a visit to POET Biorefining in | Read More »
Charlie Cook says Indiana is a “goner” for Dems
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 3rd at 01:37 PM |
In National Journal, Charlie Cook writes today, “Turning to the Democratic-held seats, the open seats in Delaware, Indiana, and North Dakota are pretty much goners…” Here’s the full piece. Ellsworth’s Gitmo Flip-Flop-Flip
By: peteseat (Diary) | September 1st at 02:07 PM |
National security has become a front burner issue in the U.S. Senate race after the release of ‘Judgment’ – Dan Coats’ first television ad of the fall campaign season. In the ad, and on the road this week, Dan has been discussing the contrast between his vigilance and record of service and incumbent Congressman Brad Ellsworth’s dangerously naïve national security record. A ‘Witness’ Takes the Stand
By: peteseat (Diary) | August 31st at 09:37 AM |
This afternoon, incumbent Congressman Ellsworth plans to enlist a leading advocate for the rights of terrorists to defend moving Guantanamo detainees to U.S. soil in a conference call with reporters. But before we get to that, let’s re-cap the past few days. On Friday, Dan Coats released a “smart ad” titled ‘Judgment’ contrasting Congressman Brad Ellsworth’s dangerously naïve record on national security with Dan’s vigilance | Read More »

By: peteseat (Diary) | August 30th at 11:16 AM |
Calling incumbent Congressman Brad Ellsworth a “symbol of [the Democratic] party’s struggles,” following passage a series of unpopular legislation, the Washington Post this morning published a pre-bituary of the Ellsworth campaign more than two months before polls open. Here’s what some of the key portions mean: Ellsworth “has now become the face of the Democrats’ reversal of fortunes across the Midwest.” That is, following their | Read More »

By: peteseat (Diary) | August 23rd at 11:56 AM |
Deficits and debt have taken center stage as Americans look for ways to reignite our economic engine and create jobs again. The WSJ writes : Speaking last Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, President Obama asked, "How do we, over the | Read More »
Jobless Claims Rise to 500,000; Pro-Growth Policies Needed
By: peteseat (Diary) | August 19th at 10:09 AM |
Visiting Paragon Medical in Indianapolis yesterday, Dan Coats discussed what he has heard from businesses: “They’re worried about higher taxes, they’re worried about more regulations, they’re worried about the impact of health care, and the people I talk to basically say, ‘We’re not going to make decisions to hire until we get all this sorted out.’” That scenario became even clearer today on the news | Read More »
