Antarctica Freezes Over Despite the Global Warming Jabberwocky
The Akademic Shokalskiy ventured forth to show the world that there just wasn’t enough ice around Antarctica during the Austral Summer. This would demonstrate beyond any reasonable doubt that Earth had a fever. We then, yea verily would have to put up with self-congratulatory lectures from the mighty Nobel prize winners like Al Gore or Michael Mann.*
Then reality intruded when the Akademic Shokalskiy got stuck in the imaginary ice.** China’s Xue Long attempted to be neighborly and pull the benighted Climate Scientologists out of the ice which the IPCC proved could not possibly exist in an atmosphere with rising CO2 levels. Xue Long got bogged-down amidst the torpor of steaming climate change and won’t be going any further south this summer without a friendly assist.

Obamacare Has No Financial Controls Whatsoever
Given the Obama administration’s latest claim that 2.1 million have signed up nationwide, that means as many as 700,000 Americans* might falsely believe they have a current health insurance policy.
(HT: Daily Mail)
Bad things happen to the leadership of large organizations who fail to control how money flows between the organization and its customers. Furthermore; bad things pretty much deserve to happen to people who fail to institute rigorous financial controls while running large organizations. The PC way of describing this would be an adverse professional outcome. Simple folk like little, ol’ moi’ refer to this as karma. In the pathetic case of our current HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius, karma should be what’s for breakfast – scattered, covered and chunked.

The Christophobia Business Model Suffers A Condign Setback
You know what I think is really nice and special? I mean nicer and even more special than a venti Pumpkin-Spice Latte at Starbucks? The fact that A&E values creativity and would never encourage hate. Oh, and the fact that they are now swell enough people to forgive Phil Robertson for publicly stating that he believes homosexuality is a sin. They want this done as fast as possible now that people have reacted to their “infinite hiatus” of Mr. Robertson from his TV Reality Show Duck Dynasty.
And it gets even better. A&E tells The Hollywood Reporter what their true values are.
As a global media content company, A+E Networks’ core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect.
It’s generally instructive to notice that members of the entertainment industry stop behaving like a ravening orc tribe and develop a rare case of the core values when they suffer an exaspirated extirpation at the hands of an utterly disgusted public. Now the obvious question here becomes how can people who stand for the saccharine-sweet pieties of post-Christian post-modernity possibly be compared to a cannibalistic pack of orcs. That answer is simple. The chritophobic bigots of American Popular Culture are like Cotton Mather without a copy of The Gospel handy.

There is No Synthesis For Christians With The Torquemadas of Tolerance
I’ll fess up to being a few hundred volumes behind on my Approved Smart Guy™ reading list. If it gets any worse, I won’t be one of The Quiz Kids anymore. One that I can say proudly I’ve caught up on is Bobo’s In Paradise by David Brooks. This book, more than anything I’ve read, makes intelligent use of the intellectual compost referred to euphemistically as Marxian Analysis. Unfortunately, like all other Marxian Analysis, it has its limits as far as describing the real world.
By fortunate happenstance, Marxism isn’t overly fond of private property; intellectual or otherwise. This preference allows the Marxist to hotwire The Hegelian Dialectic and go for epistemological joyrides over surreal terrain. Brooks so endeavors. He describes the Bourgeois-Bohemian (Bobo for short) as a Synthesis between the Bourgeois (Thesis) and Bohemian (Anti-thesis). He then goes further to claim that this union of Bacchus and Prometheus is a stable configuration that will define American high culture over the next few passing decades.
Brooks has a quick-footed wit that avoids paradox and fallacy the way Adrian Peterson weaves a broken field towards the end zone. However, his project is limited by the same problems that lay to nines canonical believers in overdetermining history such as Marx, Hegel, and Oswald Spengler. Not everything is evolutionary. Some things are canonical and binary. They exist or they don’t exist. They equal 1 or they equal zero. They are categorically discrete and there is no uncountable infinity between these two states. A synthesis between 1 and 0 equal to 0.425 is not a logically possible member of the subset.

Why China Will Inherit The Moon.
“In many countries today, moral and ethical norms are being reconsidered. They’re now requiring not only the proper acknowledgment of freedom of conscience, political views and private life, but also the mandatory acknowledgment of the equality of good and evil.”
So in the bizarre, Post-modern, Post-Cold War world, the authoritarian President of the oligarchic glob formerly known as the CCCP just gave us a lot of useful knowledge free of charge. Perhaps it was his way of thanking the NSA for all interesting things that he learned about America from Edward Snowden and Julian Assange. Whether we realize it yet or not, Mr. Putin just explained to us why China can reach the moon, while the United States of America no longer has that level of national will.

The Monster In The Mirror: Dark Enlightenment On Why People Hate The West
I can see the merit of gaining a reasonable comprehension of why people would willing let themselves be subjected to vile indignity until more explosives could be inserted as a suppository for when they blew themselves up in our general vicinity. The unsentimental former Soldier in me considers the mundane obvious. More explosives equals higher P(h)*P(k)*. Quaint; but this doesn’t quite give us the whole story.
Somebody has to actually be willing to accept a truly uncivilized level of personal depravity and denigration to earn that higher P(h)*P(k). Can you think of anyone that you actually know and interact with that you hate that much? Can you imagine any enemy of non-biblical proportions that you would hate that much on general principles? When our enemies are willing to suffer vile and repulsive things so that they can blow us up; then they see something terrible when they look upon us. I can only reach the logical conclusion that we have quite the image problem. When you are given the gift to see yourself as others see you, you will quite probably encounter The Monster in The Mirror.

Has Nihilism Finally Popped Pop Culture?
What do Pop Stars do these days to be original? They typically are far more cynical than original, so they do what worked for the last 100 years – Épater la bourgeoisie. Yet today; that totally isn’t working. People are less than fascinated when Miley Cyrus demonstrates her favorite bedroom positions on teddy bears. They could care less what Kanye West believes that George W. Bush thinks about Black People. That Kanye’s new sexual toy, Kim Khardashian is one biblical dragon-ride short of being The Harlot of Babylon is not of much interest to the average American.
So the pop-artist experiments, deconstructs and having hit bottom, longs for a sharper shovel. The music, film and filth cease to have any meaning at all. It becomes all Épater la bourgeoisie, all the time. Somewhere in their deluded, fame addicted brains, these people have to know that Johnnie Rotten and the Sex Pistols did it first and did it better.

Obama’s Inequality Sophistry Is a Recipe for Misery
Inequality sucks when you’re on the wrong side of the greater than symbol. I’ve been there before and can empathize. However, a government aimed at ending inequality is unpractical, immoral and an aberration against the laws of nature. This sort of government is impractical because you cannot make the lowest and least motivated get off their butt in a nation where slavery has been abolished. People will ultimately only rise as high as they are willing. This push to unconditionally end inequality is immoral because it rewards the slack and the expense of both the willing and the most capable. It punishes the continued exertion of both will and ability. It is unnatural because it believes that a world of totally equal and totally unmotivated people will magically generate the capital necessary to create jobs for all the new recipients of equality being born every day. This doesn’t happen – job creation is a function of capital accumulation. Therefore President Obama may mean well by ending inequality, but he isn’t even remotely oriented in the right direction to improve America’s economic future.

Mandela Vs. Mugabe
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
(From “The Road Less Taken” by Robert Frost.)
I read that Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95. You’d get that overall impression if you turned on the radio, the TV or the Internet anytime in the last two days. His resume, depending upon who does the editing and interpretation tells of a great man or evil communist. I’d choose Option C and suggest he was both. The real question would be “At what part of his life are you discussing the man?”

Jesus Saves. Senator Pryor Tries To Score On The Rebound.
I’m remembering the 2007/2008 GOP Primary Season. It works well for those seeking a suitable method to self-castigate that leaves fewer marks than flagellation in a penitent’s closet. There was a long-shot candidate, Governor Huckabee from Arkansas, who had the vile audacity to mention his faith in an advertisement. There was a partial shot of a window in the spot that was designed to make us think of a cross. The Stephanopoulos Set reacted to this in the manner in which Gothic Fiction suggests any self-respecting Nosferatu would and reminded us all of how fascism would come to America wrapped in a cross and a flag.
If Senator Pryor were to occasionally open that Bible he holds up as a talisman athwart impending electoral doom, he would have to be struck by the verity of Ecclesiastes 1. Given the background story of Mike Huckabee’s rise in the Iowa Caucuses, it reminds me that indeed there is nothing new under the sun. Pryor reaches out to Jesus, in his moment of greatest need, as he comes to the existential realization that Media Matters just isn’t going to save him in his reelection race in Arkansas.

Obamacare Is The Law. Of Course Harry Reid Considers His Buddies Exempt.
The reason powerful Leftists like Harry Reid get into politics is not to share the benefice of their enlightened and deeply philosophical ideology. Harry Reid got into politics to inflict his liberalism on the idiot plebes the way a rapist inflicts himself upon his victim. The man could care less whether the laws he passes help you little people. He sees no reason to hold himself accountable under those laws. The laws, you see, are for lesser beings, not Nietzschean Uber-Tools like Senator Harry Reid.
Now how could RMJ say such deprecating things about caring public servants like Senator Harry Reid? Why would he behave so badly and be such a vile, iniquitous hypocrite? In response to the first question, I’m saying bad things about a hateful and obnoxious man because Harry Reid just exempted his scumbag, poli-sci hack staff from Obamacare. Why, you ask? He does it for the same reason Ghengis Kahn inseminated women all over Asia. He can.

The Borg, The Draft And Dana Milbank
I was fortunate enough to spend several years as an officer in The United States Army Reserve. You could say I was a nice enough guy, but never quite made it to Colonel.* Even given that somewhat limited background, I feel I learned sufficiently what an army does well and what an army should not be used for. Suffice it to say that the true purpose of an Army is to blow up our nation’s enemies or be powerful enough to command the respect of others to the point where they check their animosity towards us at the door. An army is not an institution that should ever be used for social engineering. Thus, a recent article by Dana Milbank** had me imagining an American version of Pinochet. Milbank opines below:

As I make my rounds each day in the capital, chronicling our leaders’ plentiful foibles, failings, screw-ups, inanities, outrages and overall dysfunction, I’m often asked if there’s anything that could clean up the mess….But there is one change that, over time, could reverse the problems that have built up over the last few decades. We should have mandatory military service for all Americans, men and women alike, when they turn 18. The idea is radical, unlikely and impractical — but it just might work.
Knock-Out King, Mayor Gordon Jenkins, and Why The Police Will Just Let Us Eat Each Other
We on the P.G.P.D for the most part are now looking the other way. After almost [deleted] years on the job I find this disheartening but a necessary fact to survive in today’s, what appears to most officers, an ANTI-POLICE environment. We are even being told by some supervisors to keep a low profile so “you’re not next on the front page”! I became a police officer to help people [deleted] years ago in P.G. County . . . but I now share the attitude of most officers, just let them eat each other, we have to survive.
Fred Reed, “Let Them Eat Each Other”
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Honorable Redstate Blogging Community, I give you Hizzoner, Monticello Mayor Gordon Jenkins after being popped for flyin’ blind. LANGUAGE ALERT. Or as YouTube blogger Carmen Rue put it: “Jenkins curses repeatedly while interacting with officers, calling both white and black policemen numerous hateful racial insults, creating a hostile work environment for the officers and other employees at Village Hall which threatens their health and security and appears designed to diminish the quality of service they are permitted to provide to the public.”

JFK’s Unfortunate Legacy: The Weaponized American Conspiracy Theory
Unlike a lot of post-modern Americans, I hold no great love for President John F. Kennedy. Unlike some of my Conservative compatriots; I don’t consider the man Satan Incarnate either. My sum total opinion of JFK could be stated by “Bones” on an old episode of Star Trek. “He’s Dead, Jim.” And regardless of his political impact, that is a sad, sad thing. But what is more tragic is that he hasn’t been allowed to lie in peace. His assassination was weaponized to maximize its political impact and by extension, it has given birth to the tradition of weaponized American conspiracy theories.
There are some who believe The Single Bullet Theory. Others believe in Camelot. A few believe in both or neither. Sadly, as long as it remains a useful political exercise, there are those who will push political conspiracy theories modeled on what was thrown to the paparazzi swine after the fateful day in Dallas, TX back in 1963. I find this to be a shame – both for The Kennedy Family and for American Democracy.

Janet Yellin’s Predicted Monetary Policy And The Tragedy Of The Commons
Garret Hardin’s intellectual popularity was a product of the Malthusian Fallacy. This doesn’t mean that he was analytically unintelligent. Even when Ptolemy argued the world was flat, given his data set he had a mathematical point that had to be systematically refuted by Copernicus, Kepler, Newton et al. Hardin makes the same sort of economic point, in his seminal piece “The Tragedy of The Commons” even if he is has been proven wrong about it with respect to human overpopulation.
Hardin argues that commonly held property will be exploited without conscience because the costs thereof are not directly visible to those who use the property. The end result of this exploitation will be systemic failure as the exploitation is inexorably extended to a logistical limit beyond which a meta-stable economic system can no longer attain sustainable equipoise. Or as Instapundit Blogger-In-Chief Glenn Reynolds puts it, “That which can’t continue will eventually stop.” One example of a commons that is being exploited towards inevitable tragedy is the current monetary system involving fiat currency.
