Petreus Breaking News (Open thread)

General David Petreus has resigned as head of the CIA.  Citing…an affair. Not foreign affairs. Like Libya, or other far off countries. No just your basic run of the mill extramarital affair.  Not really a diary I know but didn’t want to jump into election venting.  So, is an affair the  REAL reason Petreus is leaving?

Lets pick a candidate soon, not 3 1/2 years from now

This was the most contentious battle ever. Not between Republicans and Democrats, rather between Republicans and Republicans. Our primary process was packed with conservatives of all stripes and while we fought amongst ourselves the one who emerged victorious was the one guy a majority of us never picked as a first choice.  Oh, we dutifully played our supportive roles in the last few months but it | Read More »

Excuse me! What’s our agenda again?

It appears I need some clarification. Perhaps you guys can help. Just what exactly was the end purpose of the last couple of years?  The wave of 2010, the presidential primary with all its backstabbing and infighting and then that glorious mess we saw yesterday?  I was under the, apparently mistaken, belief it was so we could take care of an agenda. We rode this | Read More »

As Sandy’s water recedes, here’s a place for the Flotsam to reside. (aka Sandy open thread)

If you’re like me you have gone to innumerable websites reading stories on the destruction Sandy has wrought, the human toll thus far, the financial toll expected, breathtaking photos,  etc. But some stories fall into the hmmmm category.  They’re the ones you read that for some reason make you extremely angry, some may make you laugh, and some may just leave you questioning …Why did they do that? So, | Read More »

Pay no Attention to the Kitchen Sinks

Two weeks out and it appears the democrats are throwing everying they have to the media hoping something will stick.  Lets start with Gloria Allred, famed attorney for suffering women everywhere.  She’s been licking her chops for a week teasing about a bombshell October surprise, and it could be what’s featured in TMZ today (H/T Hot Air). Surprise!!! Romney knows someone who got a divorce.  Yeah, | Read More »

Really CNN??!! Is this the best you got in spin?

This is sad. But to be expected, when we’re talking Candy Crowley.  TMZ uncovered a nice email nugget from CNN’s managing editor that got sent throughout their offices yesterday which heaps praise on Candy Crowley. It highlights her ”superb” performance moderating despite being”… under the most difficult circumstances imaginable.” And then they list off all the hardship she’s been under.  Ok, to be clear here, there wasn’t any mortar fire surrounding | Read More »

Seeing as how so many threads got hijacked,  thought maybe it would be a good time to open one up.  Here ya go. Land of the feel free to spit it out. Rather than putting the first post in the diary, I’ll put it here.   I’ll start off with  SHAME!!! Shame on Newt’s  Tennessee team for a quitting him yesterday and going to Santorum. The “Stand By Your Man” pro Cain Piece

What a day Cainiacs! All the doom and gloom and hang wringing and for what. I personally think not a lot, if this is all they got.  Because so much was focused on this–how about a tally of  the good news of the day. First, things seem ok in Iowa. From Burns and Haberman  (yeah Politico). They talked with  Steve Grubbs, Cain’s Iowa Chairman. “I | Read More »

Fred Thompson for Vice President ( Cain/Perry people- here’s a chance to come together)

Floating a Trial Balloon: Everyone here knows Fred Thompson. We don’t need to get into his bonafides. He’s been vetted. If I read the signs correctly there are those who feel Mr. Cain’s inexperience in politics is a liabiliity. And I’m also getting the impression Gov Perry is  perceived as not being conservative enough for some voters. There has been suggestion of a Perry/Cain  Cain/Perry ticket among | Read More »

What has happened to Fox News and why hire Mark “Argentina” Sanford?

South Carolina former Gov Mark Sanford has been hired on by Fox News. He will be a paid contributor.  Sanford is the one who, you’ll recall, said he was going off hiking the Appalachians.  Instead he merrily skipped off to visit his girlfriend in Argentina. How could Fox think anyone would be interested in this individual’s opinion, commentary, or insight.  Unless, they go to him in a “…speaking | Read More »

Defunding NPR would have a “detrimental impact on all Americans”

Now there’s a line you just don’t hear everyday. Most likely because its not true. But here’s how it came about… As you know by now Obama’s fiscal commission put out a framework, if you will, on various things that should be cut or altered in an effort to reduce long term debt. Currently the dems are pretty much dismissing the proposal while the gop | Read More »

Harvard & San Diego scientists find the “Liberal Gene”. (True! So we can fix them, right? )

This explains so much. We thought liberalism was a disease turns out its a variant of a gene. ____________ “The study was led by UCSD’s James Fowler and focused on 2,000 subjects from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. Scientists matched the subjects’ genetic information with “maps” of their social networks. According to researchers, they determined that people “with a specific variant of the | Read More »

Hey Behar, keep insulting our candidates–your fundraising efforts for us are really paying off!

I’ve never watched The View, but from all I’ve read its pretty liberal. That’s why I don’t waste my time. But yesterday I took an interest because on Hotair they highlighted a clip of where a host, Joy Behar, called Sharron Angle –the B word, and shortly thereafter said Angle was going “to hell”. I watched the full clip and was immediately reminded why I | Read More »

Denver ordinance addressess the pressing need for Extraterrestrial Awareness. Voters asked to fund an ET commission.

If the Buck v Bennett race isn’t enough to get voters’ blood pumping in Denver, how about Ordinance 300? A h/t to Jonah Goldberg at NRO’s The Corner for pointing out this beauty. An ordinance creating the Extraterrestrial Affair Commission. Obviously this is some kind of joke, to humor voters after a very trying election cycle, right? Um, no. One more reason to aid DesJarlais in the fight against Davis in TN-04

For those watching this race closely, you’ve already seen what’s on the scoreboard. R-candidate Scott DesJarlais released an internal poll showing him and D-Lincoln Davis tied at 42 percent. They had to show the internals because no one else wants to poll this race. ( Much like the Miller/Murky race and the Djou/Hanabusa battle there are some races pollsters just don’t want go to. An Alternative Solution for ‘The Site’

Everyone here it seems has written a diary on their take regarding the Ground Zero Mosque. The ‘cultural center’ thats a place for ‘healing’. Obviously, putting the mosque there is not going to “heal” anybody and the idea just poured salt on a very deep wound, which I suspect was their idea all along. Rather than rant off about why we shouldn’t have it there | Read More »

Accusations abound that Dems have “tampered with Tea Party” in 4 states.

“The accusations range from helping tea party activists circulate candidate petition sheets to underwriting the creation of official Tea Parties, which then put forth slates of candidates that local conservatives accuse of being rife with Democratic plants. ” That’s a quote from a Politico story concerning more than 6 races in 4 states; MI, FL, NJ, PA. We need a win for Dr. Dan today.

Every few weeks we get a Cinderella story and today it unfolds in Michigan, one of three states holding primaries. I’m not going to get into the Kansas or Missouri races but in Michigan Dr. Dan Benishek is on the ballot to take the place of Bart Stupak. This is one candidate who really deserves a seat in Washington. He’s genuine and a true conservative. | Read More »

    All eyes on Arizona today

Tomorrow, citizens in Arizona could wake up to a brand new law helping them regain control of their state. At midnight tonight, SB 1070 is set to take effect…unless Judge Susan Bolton grants an injunction stopping the whole thing in its tracks. Which could happen today. So today is a very exciting day for those of us who have the illegal immigration at, or near, | Read More »
