I will FIGHT for Speaker Gingrich to win.

My mourning period for the candidacy of Gov. Rick Perry is nearly over. Since the beginning, Speaker Gingrich has been my second choice, now my first. I’d like to share with you one of the reasons the Speaker has my support.

President Reagan was the first president I ever voted for and voting for him was the last time I didn’t have to hold my nose while marking my ballot. I had no doubts whatsoever of his love for our great country. It practically oozed from every pore. I see the same from Speaker Gingrich and always have. This is a man who truly wants what is best for America and will fight tooth and nail to get it! Is he “perfect”? Not by a long shot, but he is human, a human who makes mistakes large and small, learns from them and moves on. Just like all of us.

I want a president with true passion for his country and who is not afraid to show it. Obama doesn’t have that, you can tell by looking at his eyes that have no life and his tone that is so void of any real emotion. Other than Gov. Perry and Speaker Gingrich, I have not been inspired by any other candidate to do anything to help them win. We already have too many elected officials in D.C. who are only in it for themselves and not for love of country!

If you read some of the Speaker’s books and other writings, you too would come to realize he has an unwavering love for this country. He absolutely believes in the exceptionalism of our United States and would never undermine her as Obama has done. When he is on stage during a debate and gets side-tracked into the historical part of whatever the question was, it is because he knows how amazing our history is and wants to share it with us all. It’s not always appropriate in that venue, but he wants inspire us all to feel the same passion for our country as he does. He knows how improbable it was that our nation even came into being and he also knows we have forgotten that. This is a man who is well aware of how far we’ve come to letting that slip away, bit by bit, and how hard the task will be to setting things right again.

I believe Newt Gingrich is the only remaining candidate who has the backbone to stand up to Obama and win, then move on to stand up to those Republicans in D.C. who no longer deserve the support of their constituents. What gives him the backbone to take them on? The same love of country that compels us to be here at Red State, defending our constitution and the exceptionalism of these United States.

There was only one time I saw Perry speak with a passion that burned hot.

He was speaking of letting illegal immigrants who were there get In-State tuition so they could ‘become productive Texans’.

While his blood was hot with passion, mine was boiling with anger.

I am a truck driver. I see illegal immigrants holding down jobs that others would like, jobs paying as high as $20 an hour. Not jobs like taking the trash out as is often characterized… real jobs real Americans are proud to work in.

I see this so much, it sickens me.

The hidden facts behind illegal aliens sickens me also (like how many get benefits from various agencies while they work using someone elses social security number)

I cannot tolerate a true believer for illegals as President.

Now Newt has issues, God help me I know. But at the same time he has a different passion… to help the United States. He has done good things in the past, he has sought redemption and change in his personal life, and there is hope he will do the right things in the future.

Reagan was the 1st President that I was able to vote for, and the only one that I didn’t have to hold my nose. I was a young stay at home mother and remember all the wonderful C-Span, and loved to watch Newt. So much slander coming from Romney about Newt and his part with Reagan. Here is a wonderful link that is a bit of a read, but take us back to the real truth about Newt.

For the last cotton pickin time, the in-state tuition thing works like this:

Qualifiers for in-state tuition are that a student must have resided in Texas for at least THREE YEARS, must have GRADUATED FROM A TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL and MUST BE ACTIVELY GOING THROUGH THE CITIZENSHIP PROCESS. The state legislature VOTED 180 TO 4 in favor of this bill.

Many of these students’ parents brought them here as children – little kids – who had no voice in what their parents did. They have grown up in Texas and know no other place as home.

They PAY tuition. It’s not a scholarship, it’s not a grant, it’s not a dang freebie.

Would you really deny a young person, who is willing to work hard for the privilege, the opportunity to attend college while attaining citizenship, thereby becoming a LEGAL citizen? Seriously, you would deny them this because of the sins of their parents? You’d force them to be deported along with their parents to a country in which there are no jobs, no hope of attending college or becoming a productive citizen much like yourself? Really? I daresay there are very few American kids who would put that much effort into obtaining an education in order to better themselves. Shoot, most American kids wouldn’t even be able to pass the citizenship test.

None of what you cited as examples of why this should not be offered have anything at all to do with the Texas in-state tuition policy. This is NOT AMNESTY. This is not saying “here’s your citizenship papers, you don’t have to work for it, we’ll just give it to you”. These kids still have to complete the process just like people from India or the Philippines or Vietnam or England or Australia or anywhere else for that matter.

I DO NOT support blanket amnesty and neither does Gov. Perry. Try doing a little research before shooting off your mouth. You don’t even have to leave RedState to do it, there are plenty of posts here containing the truth of this matter.
