Cheney the Pacemaker

To commemorate Human Events’s naming Dick Cheney the Conservative of the Year. My humble thanks to Dick Cheney, for having the balls to say what needs to be said, for leading the way as a man in this political world of boys, weaklings and cowards, and for allowing me and my family to feel safer knowing he exists in the world.

He is the pacemaker of America.

 – From an American citizen.

Dick Cheney said it.

CBS confirmed it.

Gibbs cried about it.

LA Times labeled it .

So did the Brits.

Washington Post’s David Broder used it.

Democrats knew it  and called it, with the LA Times noting how Cheney was the guy who “single-handedly reinvented the wonderful Wyoming word ‘dithering’.”

Even Chris Matthews likened it to Chamberlain’s Nazi appeasement.

Cheney’s “dithering” made the rounds in the world of political punditry until finally, it morphed into the most useful adjective to describe Obama – as in “dithering Obama” — both domestically and abroad .

The original quote?

“Dithering” comes from ”Concerns about America’s Foreign Policy Drift,” Cheney’s October 21st speech at the Center for Security Policy:

It’s time for President Obama to make good on his promise. The White House must stop dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger.

Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries. Waffling, while our troops on the ground face an emboldened enemy, endangers them and hurts our cause.

And two months later, on December 2nd, after Obama’s 8-month delay in announcing his Afghanistan Strategy, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan — the Taliban – added themselves to the list of observers of Obama’s ”dithering“:

The American President Obama has announced his strategy after months of dithering.

Sleep well knowing the Taliban are listening to Cheney, too.

This is here, too.

The thing I appreciate about him the most is his ability to stick with the facts and leave the emotions out of it. His debate with John Edwards in 2004 really set the standard of how to destroy your opponent with facts and relevant argument. He is a cool-hand. Thanks for posting this.

We were under the impression

They say Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor.
If they need more voters,
then they have to make more of who they are for.

We are there in the various Tea Party groups, leaderless, but not rudderless.
We steer always toward the Constitutional principles this nation was founded upon.

“If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”—Samuel Adams
