In 1969, here’s what five bucks bought:

– 50 packs of Winstons (which I smoked)

– 50 gallons of gasoline

– a steak dinner with wine at a fancy restaurant

The Fed has cheapened our currency in the meantime.

We have let it happen.

I say, time enough.

Let’s re-take our government.

    a hand held portable AM radio for five bucks, and feel like you were as cool as Captain Kirk.
    Obama and Pelosi are trying to take back government too. What a bunch of clowns. Did you see that Dufus-POTUS today getting madder than h*ll. They have a eighty vote majority and 59 Sen and they can’t run the country. What a bunch of losers. We need to get more of those Bush pictures up on the billboards; ‘Do Ya miss me yet’? Democrats besides being disloyal to the Republic, are the most self-centered incompetant Dufii in the history of this country. Don’t ya kind of miss the drunkard congressmen from the 70′s. At least they were funny once in a while. Oh ya, you could by one of them in ’69 for five bucks too, but at least you got some value in return, though I wasn’t old enough to know it at the time.

    In 1969-

    Unemployment rate was 3.4%, today it is 9.7%

    Average new car price was $3,270., today it is $30,000.

    Average new home price was $24,600., today it is $203,000.

    Average mortgage interest rate was 8.5%, today it is 4.35%.

    And, if I am not mistaken, in 1969 a home purchaser was required to have a 20% downpayment, and a verifiable source of steady adequate income to repay the mortgages.

    It’s beyond time to re-take the government.

    Agreed.

    Let’s work backwards from that goal.

    We have to elect decent people.

    That happens in the general election if they have managed to get onto the general election ballot.

    To get onto the general election ballot, they have to win the all-important, traditionally-very-low-turnout primary election.

    The BEST way to make sure that conservatives win the primary elections is to get conservatives to INVADE the Republican Party and fill up the 50 per cent of the Republican precinct committeeman slots. PCs are in the best position to evaluate the candidates and then get the vote out in their precincts for the BEST conservative candidate in each race. I know. It’s what I do.

    Conservatives could take over the Republican Party TOMORROW if they just went to their local GOP meeting and asked to be informed how to become a voting member of the Party. ONLY PCs get to vote for the leadership of the Party.

    Want to get a more conservative RNC Chairman? You can ONLY influence who gets elected to that position if you are a PC. Period.
