Please don’t eat the babies!

Funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. The Boone County Democrats are having a Chili Dinner fundraiser.  Their invitation postcard shows a baby in a chili pot with a crosshairs image pasted on top of them. Apparently babies are being targeted for murder and cannibalism in Missouri!  Don’t believe me? If I lived in Missouri, I’d be there on the 24th with a “Please don’t eat the babies!” sign.

Hey, the kids are free!

It costs $10 but the kids are free! It’s extra-meaty chili, I guess. So much for the Greens. Is this a “Baby in Every Pot” now for the Democrats? And I thought people were joking when they said the Democrats ate their own.

Badump bump, bump, bump and bump. ;)

They have a new logo and a new focus for 2012. Oh dear.

But hey, you know what?

I would settle for people taking things like this less seriously across the board. What this proves is that politically active people are perfectly free to make up their own postcards and stuff, even if it conflicts with someone else’s interpretation of the symbolism. The blowhards should stop blowing and start sucking. [This is also known as the inverse MegaMaid, for the terminally obscure Mel Brooks fans out there.]

And there’s nothing wrong really with using a target as your new symbol when you’re talking about an election, even if there is a baby in a chili pot to sell it. This is mild stuff and before the MOcrats change their symbols and reprint all their postcards, they should just join the rest of us in yelling: “Cut it OUT! It’s a picture!” Look, they even put the target on the pot right in front of the baby, which leads the question from overpaid academics: “Do they want to eat the baby first, or shoot it?”

Really. Seriously. This is America and people need to cut the crap about the 5th-grade level symbolic interpretation. I know nobody on the Left will do it but they should, because their people need to be free to have a fundraiser with a baby in a chili pot also. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

"Hypocrisy" is the single most overused

kowalski (Diary) Thursday, January 20th at 8:31PM EDT (link)

“Hypocrisy” is the single most overused and increasingly meaningless pejorative term of our time. It competes for space at the bottom of the Uselessness Scale with terms like “Community” and almost anything that ends in “-ism”. The only more meaningless term we use to describe things we know almost nothing about is: “Climate Change”, which is the bastard child of “Global Warming” and is demonstrably even more meaningless than the original term.

So while you could call the Missouri Democrats hypocrites for placing a target on the front of a chili pot containing a baby, you have to ask the question: “Is it really worth it to call them hypocrites? Or could it just be that everyone is trying much harder than usual to read things into things that other people say and use that as a basis to impugn and discredit, to debase and slur? To impute motives to them that certainly didn’t exist in their minds but which they must now be held to account for, somehow?”

Everyone among us who lives on this Earth is a hypocrite on some level. I’m a hypocrite. And if you’re reading this, you are too. There are some who are bigger hypocrites than others, and some who are better liars than others, and others who just don’t know the difference.

I think it’s time we stopped being so quick to judge other people before really getting to know them.

And the original term for "Global Warming"

kowalski (Diary) Thursday, January 20th at 8:36PM EDT (link)

Was Malthusianism. It was just elaborated differently, but it’s the same thing.

And that’s a quadruple Kowalski, which is a term I still enjoy using. :)
