LA Primaries, Including the Reelection Bid of Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA02)

What is, "$90,000 *In His Freezer*", Alex?

The Congressional Primaries were originally scheduled for September 6, but were postponed due to Hurricane Gustav.

The polls closed at 8 pm CDT. The highest profile elections will be in District 2, where a slate of six challenge The Freezer King for the Democratic nomination (and, effectively, the Congressional seat).

There is a contested primary for each party is District 4 (Shreveport), the seat of retiring Republican Jim McCrery.

Seems like corrupt scum to me. I’ve no patience nor tolerance for such people.

    Here.

1 precinct in, 491 to go. Dollar Bill was a weak third. Keep those fingers crossed.

    1 Former newscaster Helena Moreno.

2 Byron Lee, Jefferson Parish councilman.

and forced to comment on Jefferson.

Top three within about a 1/2%

  • Vladimir

He’s not polling any votes in Orleans.

88 pcts now in. If this holds, there will be a Jefferson/Moreno runoff.

He just got caught. And heck, Dollar Bill is a penny ante player compared to the likes of Rezko and the Chicago Democratic Machine.

Actually, I find Dollar Bill to be an improvement. He’s just in it for the money. BO wants to change this country into the vision he shares with Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dhorn.

    in his freezer, people.

…That Dem turnout in the 4th district is so much higher than the GOP turnout.

I hope this doesn’t auger what’s in store in November.

  • Vladimir

Party registration has been meaningless in the past; many Dems regularly vote Republican, given the choice.

  • dld1717

Jefferson is likely to survive now that he faces a white politician in overwhelming black district

    LA 4 Open Seat

McCrery endorsement never helped Thompson it looks like Dr Fleming will win nomination

More shocking is that Dem will have primary too

Keep in mind the runoff for these 2 races is on Election day and the races will then be determined after Nov 4th.

LA postponed some dates due to Hurricane they had.

LA 4 could switch to Dems if we do horrible on election day

We need those 5,000 expats living in Houstan to come back and vote for WJ like they did for Nagin.

  • IJB

The list of people who came in first, and then went on to lose runoffs is long. I would assume nothing about Fleming vs. Thompson at this point.

But I agree with you about Jefferson – I think Moreno will make it a race, but I fully expect Jefferson to pull it out now. No amount of corruption will keep Democrats from voting for incumbents. He could be a convicted serial killer of children, and I suspect Jefferson would still get elected.

    LA 4 GOP

    Fleming

    Gorman

Thompson finished 3rd and is not in runoff and he indicated he will endorse Fleming
