Because I never tire of seeing former Gov. Edwin W. Edwards (D-LA) wearing the government-issue uniform that suits him so well.

WASHINGTON — Edwin Edwards’ hopes for an early release from federal prison appeared dead Monday as President George W. Bush issued what top aides said would be his final acts of clemency with no mention of the former four-term Louisiana governor.

After Bush commuted the sentences of two former border patrol agents, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino told Fox News on Monday that the commutations would be the last of his presidency.

    but IMHO Edwin Edwards is the most sleazebag politician I’ve seen in my lifetime. He could turn on the Cajun charm and all the folks in South LA would vote for him regardless of what he said or did. I know it was 25 years ago, but what other politician ever could have gotten away with saying, “The only way I can lose this election is if I’m caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy”? Unbelievable.

      …has been led by former R Gov. Dave Treen, who never impressed me as the sharpest tool in the shed, and the butt of the “dead girl/live boy” wisecrack.

      I’d like to think that his campaign for Edwards’ release is an act of supreme graciousness. But EWE is where he needs to be for the good of the state.

        My Cousin always thought that Treen was Edwards’ republican butt boy who was simply a place holder between his elections since he couldn’t serve three consecutive terms.
