BREAKING: Waxman-Markey Cap & Trade Bill Pulled from Energy Subcommittee

In a Tuesday afternoon conference call with Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA1), the congressman revealed that just this afternoon, the Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade Tax Bill was pulled from consideration by the Energy Subcommittee. It will be referred to the full Energy and Commerce Committee.

This move comes after three weeks of Subcommittee hearings on the bill. According to Rep. Scalise, Chairman Waxman (D-Beverly Hills) met with key subcomittee Democrats with President Obama at the White House. The bill has been encountering significant resistance from energy state Dems due to the high penalties it would impose on fossil fuels, with few remedies for those states where alternatives cannot be readily developed.

Because of Waxman’s concern that the bill would not be favorably reported out of the Subcommittee, Rep. Waxman will apparently try his luck with the full Committee. It is not at all clear that it will receive a warmer reception there.

Rep. Scalise sees this as a victory, for the time being, for opponents of Cap-and-Trade. It will be important to keep up the vocal pressure on Congress to expose the bill as, effectively, a $3,000 per year energy tax on the average American household that it is.

and to think that there are still so many folks out there that fall for this BS….

Seat belt fines, won’t be primary enforceable… A Tax that won’t be permanent… A Tax on only the “Wealthy”…. all that BS

Then a minor change later in the dark of the night in non-related legislation later and BAM…

It troubles me that there are so many dumb people floating about the country these days – they never learn anything!

Most people don’t understand cap & trade, that is even if they know about it. In casual conversion I mention cap & trade along these lines.
“Wouldn’t it be great to spend $3000 more a year and get nothing in return?” Most people ask me what am I talking about. I say hey would you give up your summer vacation for Al Gore & Obama? Or would you give up eating out so the democrats can have more money with little to no accountability? The energy companies will pass on the extra costs to consumers and in “trade” the consumer will get screwed. Cap & Trade is a dimal failure in Europe and will also guarantee brown outs & black outs in the coldest winter months and in the hottest summer months….

?If Republicans convince voters that clean energy legislation amounts to a new tax, Obama?s plan is toast.?

the reality is you will pay just by waking up and existing. Every time you turn on a light switch, every time your a/c comes on, everytime you drive to the store, every time you do…anything, even breathe, you will pay the tax.

Even when you die…your estate will pay the tax in the form of the higher price to make your coffin, for the backhoe to dig your grave for the lawnmowers that cut the grass on your grave, you will have to dig down to send some coin to the zerO and his pal corpulent AlGore.

It is the ultimately perfect Socialist tax and power dominance scheme. They drool at the thought of it’s enactment and the opportunity to subjugate you at every breath.

This is good news, and hopefully the full committee will reject this.
