Smooth Move, Mary Landrieu

Check out this headline in the (reliably liberal) Baton Rouge Advocate:

GOP win may cost La. $300 million

Even though the deal struck to get Mary on board the Health Care Reform bandwagon was widely regarded as a “payoff”, it had a reasonable justification.

The money was to be used to help fill a gap the state faces because of a federal funding formula that penalizes Louisiana because “per capita income” rose during the infusion of insurance and federal government money to help rebuild after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Now, with the HCR bill foundering, a statistical fix that might have been sold on its own merits to Democrats and Republicans alike is as dead as a mackerel.

If the state budget suddenly grows a $300 million hole, can Jindal use the sudden shortfall to pull the plug on useless and worse-than-useless programs, along the lines of what Pawlenty was able to do in Minnesota, or will this blow be a disaster for Louisiana?

and that isn’t looking too likely right now.

I saw Senator Alexander on Greta last night.
He was saying that all the Senators that passed their version
of ObamaCare should go be governors. Because all ObamaCare
does is give the bill to the states.

Thus the Nebraska Cornhusker Kickback and the Louisiana Purchase would only come into play if ObamaCare was passed in
it’s present form. Which now – does not look likely.

I think up to 15 states have threatened legal action to block
ObamaCare. The democrats just don’t get it.
This whole idea of “Health Insurance Reform” needs to be dropped until the economy is much stronger….

Of course Obama will say that because “Health Insurance Reform” WAS NOT PASSED is why the economy is not recovering…..

Solution – KICK OUT all of the democrats & RINOS and start over…

If Obamacare dies, Landrieu lost Louisiana 300 million Fed dollars.

Those dollars were not just a “bonus” for playing Obama-roulette. Some of them were also – as Vladimir’s article notes – part of a Fed bailout because per-capita income in Louisiana rose (maybe due to fewer on welfare in the big easy?) after Katrina, so less Fed money was going to flow that way.

That’s a similar situation to the one Pawlenty found himself with in Minnesota – although on a larger scale – and my question is can Jindal play Louisiana in a way that cuts funding to mostly garbage and Lib-feather-bed programs the way Pawlenty did and come out with a balanced budget?

Yes, the full 300 mill is predicated on Obamacare, but .. apparently not all of it, and there’s no telling what kind of budget assumptions the Louisiana statehouse made.

by Landrieu is her newfound support of the Murkowski resolution against the EPA regulations. Nelson, Lincoln and Landrieu are seen as the prostitutes that sold their votes for Commie Care. They are now desperate, and are trying to take some of the egg off their faces.

vladimir, you have posted many times on the Global Warming debacle. Did you see this latest sham-

If we a Donk as a Senator here and that Senator toke the cash, there would be attaboys from all of the members of the Fourth estate of Texas. They love leftists a lot and hate Conservatives. So a a GOP win is really bad for them. Why else would they shamelessly plug for Bill White even though the Democratic party of Texas is very progressive.

Or openly attach it to something else?

Or can it only pass the Democratic leadership if it’s needed to buy off her vote? Hmm…

It’s no different than how many Dems seem ready to put HCR on the back burner even though they have claimed that thousands of people are dying per month without it and that there is $500B of Medicare/aid waste/fraud/abuse that they will go unchecked.
