Monster Chiller Horror Global Warming!

With apologies to SCTV's Count Floyd...

This headline/subhead in The Guardian (UK) reminds me of the plot of a really bad 1950s monster movie:

Global warming monitoring needs to find ‘missing heat’, say scientists

Further study on oceans needed before hidden heat ‘comes back to haunt us’, say researchers in Colorado

So, Global Warming Is Going to Kill Us All!!!

And what makes it really scary: we don’t even know where all that Global Warming is!!!!

Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh! We’re all going to die!!!!!!

Kevin Trenberth and John Fasullo, climate scientists at the National Centre for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, say that only about half of the heat believed to have built up in the Earth in recent years can be accounted for. New instruments are needed to locate and monitor this missing heat, they say, which could be storing up trouble for the future.

The heat will come back to haunt us sooner or later,” Trenberth said. “The reprieve we’ve had from warming temperatures in the last few years will not continue. It is critical to track the build-up of energy in our climate system so we can understand what is happening and predict our future climate.”

What they’re telling us is that all the heat that their whiz-bang thermodynamic climate models say must be getting trapped has gone AWOL.

The scientists say: “How can we understand whether the strong cold outbreaks of December 2009 are simply a natural weather phenomenon, as they seem to be, or are part of some change in clouds or pollution, if we do not have adequate measurements?”

[Emphasis added.]

Fellas, um, I’m not a climate scientist, but have you considered the possibility that your climate models are wrong? That maybe, just maybe, there are significant earth/atmospheric/oceanic processes that aren’t understood well enough to make a half-decent computer model of them?

Nah, that couldn’t be, because those climate models are what hold the whole field of Climate Science together. And if those models are suspect… nah, we’re not even going there, my friend!

It was trapped under a volcano. Being responsible Global Citizens, they began releasing it yesterday.

Like the Tea Partiers should be thanking the President, Europe should be thanking Iceland for releasing the trapped heat.

All is right in the world once again.

      • spim

the amount of greenhouse gases being released is mind-boggling

if all goes well, their plan calls for volcano emissions to be reduced to 20% of current levels by 2020.

The UN planned on calling for Sanctions, however they are fairly certain China will veto.

The EU is planning on bringing the entire Island up before The Hague and sue for Economic Calamity – tying the ongoing troubles in Greece, Spain and Portugal to this Greenhouse Gas threat.

Iceland was only to release the trapped heat. They were supposed to sequester the gasses underground.

Failure to accomplish this is sure to be blamed on the US Senate for not passing Cap-and-Trade; a bill that was sure to fast-track “Green Technology”.

Van Jones is to go on record stating Glenn Beck derailed his initiatives by getting him unfairly oustered from his position.

          …What a tangled weave we have woven….

Kevin Trenberth mentioned in the article as a lead author is one of the Climategate crew. Is in many emails. He states in this article the problem that warming has stopped in the past few years. Where is the NY Times or WaPo with this news? The guy was after all a contributor to the UN IPCC report. Trenberth also says the missing heat haunts us. They suggest instruments are just all of a sudden not good enough to find the global warming. Even though they found it before.

the “science” to detect warming doesn’t work, but the “science” directing us how to reverse it will.

  • Adjoran

You can have it back if my demands are met. Refuse, and I just let it cool off, a little at a time, slowly.

Shall I send you a souvenir? Play ball, lest you wake up with an ice sculpture in your bed which bears an odd resemblance to your missing heat.

The Global Warming is HIDING from us? A big-ol’ global game of hide-and-seek? We gotta find it before it gets to the front porch (That’s safe, yaknow) or we’re all gonna die!!

Thanks for the laugh on a Friday morning.

    • blooch

It’s not hiding. It’s right there in plain sight, and if the scientoids wouild plug “Tea Party” into their climate models, they’d find their missing heat and then some.

      Wascawy Waaaahming.

And ads on milk cartons(soy and almond in sanfran). Have you seen this global warming heat?

“you wanna go warmie hunting? Ok, Kev, you hold this sack, Johnny , you hold the stick, we’ll chase the warmie to you, just wait right here…”

I think I know where they can find the missing heat: Al Gore. He is, after all, full of hot air.

  • E Pluribus Unum

is very suspicious to me. Clearly that warm water is proof of global warming.

  • cwb33

because they didn’t get any snow in March for the first time in 125-years. I’d say you’re right to be scared Vlad. I am too.

Minnesota’s March snow was accidentally delivered to Texas this year. Unfortunately it melted before we could arrange to have it shipped back up here.

But didn’t you hear? Climate has nothing to do with weather! I read it in the German press so it must be true!
