Climate Skeptics = Terrorists!

Are you now, or have you ever been, a subscriber to ClimateAudit.org?

Individuals who made Freedom of Information inquiries of the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit have come under police scrutiny, including interviews to determine their political beliefs, scientific qualifications, and details regarding computer usage, according to an article in The Financial Times. [Link requires registration.]

Even more troubling, local police are being aided in their investigation by members of the National Domestic Extremism Team, the unit set up to counter home-grown terrorists and radicals. The purported reason for their involvement is their skills in computer forensics and their experience dealing with environmental terrorists.

But it’s curious that, given the very real threat of terrorism, both in the U.K. and the U.S., precious resources are allocated to tracking down a culprit who would be glorified as a “whistleblower” if his politics were different.

The muckraking leftist press glorifies the whistleblower, regardless of the legality of his/her leaked information or the consequences of the leak.

From Daniel Ellsburg with the Pentagon Papers, to ex-CIA agent Philip Agee, to Deep Throat of Watergate fame, to Jeffrey Wigand, the tobacco industry whistleblower, information thieves have been lionized by those who believe that the end justifies the means. This stuff is standard fare for the New York Times, the Washington Post and the network “newsmagazines”.

But this time it’s different; the mainstream press has already chosen sides. It has gone “all in” in support of the Climate Change agenda, and the quest of the U.N. and the statists in their quest for control of the industrialized Western economies. That being the case, they emphasize the “illegality” of the “stolen” or “hacked” emails, all the better to distract from the damning content contained therein.

Terrorism, apparently, is in the eye of the beholder. It all depends on whose ox is being Gored.

whistle on ACTUAL illegal activities? The climate scientists at East Anglia have been cleared of any wrongdoing by not just one, but two, independent investigations. Not to mention that Global Warming data isn’t just being studied at East Anglia, but in research centers around the world, all of which have shown an alarming rise in global temperatures over the past 50-years.

    • http://vladenblog.tumblr.com Vladimir

East Anglia is supposedly the repository of the world’s best temperature database, which even NOAA defers to. Oh, and East Anglia failed to keep their raw data.

The individuals coming under scrutiny in this case are the people (both in the UK and in the US) who had the temerity to make FOI data requests. The ones that East Anglia blew off & failed to respond to in a timely fashion.

Are you a civil libertarian? Are you not the least bit troubled by the police showing up & questioning the politics, scientific credentials etc. of the people that did go through the channels and attempt to have legitimate questions answered through FOI requests?

How “independent” were those investigations? Boy, they sure got wrapped up in a hell of a hurry.

Have you considered the content of the purloined emails? The disregard for the integrity and the abuse of the peer review process? The emphasis on stiffing the Medieval Warming?

50 years is no time frame to evaluate planet-wide climate phenomena. What about the “missing heat” of Trenberth and Fasullo? That doesn’t make you just the teeniest bit skeptical?

Since you are one of the last remaining people in the Western Hemisphere that still believes that those in the business of flacking climate change and global warming are doing so with nary a lick of bias. As to illegal activities, what would you call people who took government money to study something, hid the true facts, and continuously fudged the rest of them all in order to keep getting that money?

That’s my definition of theft, which, correct me if I’m wrong, is illegal. On the other hand, it’s the Left that is doing this, so maybe it’s not illegal, just business as usual.

You bring up the “well, they’ve been cleared of all wrongdoing” argument. So, what do you think of the whole Valerie Plame affair? Were Bush, Rove, Cheney involved with the leak, or not?

Oh, and if the same data is studied all around the world, there is no way to reconstruct that same data from the raw, since they lost the records after “norming” it. Even East Anglia said they had to start over because the data was in such bad shape.

And you talk about the last 50 years. 30 years ago, these same “research centers” were decrying “global cooling” during the preceeding 20 years. And you do realize that 1998 was not the warmest year on record, but 1934. And we’ve had a slight cooling trend since then. AND none of this even comes close to the medieval warm period – when Greenland was green.

It seems that since you are only looking at the last 50 years, you’ve been hit over the head too many times with Mann’s thoroughly discredited hockey stick.

Before someone gets the wrong idea and thinks there really was some “affair” to the Flame-Wilson situation, I’d like to mention something. As someone who has been employed as both a Senior Special Agent by the Feds, and worked for DIA and with CIA in an Intel capacity, I KNOW (that is I don’t think I know, I know) that the “affair” was a waste of taxpayer’s money. Fitzgerald was informed at about 2 weeks into his “investigation” that the allegation of a violation of a Federal Statute had no validity as Plame did not meet the requirements of the statute protecting undercover CIA Agents (no matter what the MSM claimed). If he had been a non-political professional, he would have terminated the exercise at that point and saved the taxpayers the money he spent over the next 2 years trying to drum up something to embellish his resume. The man is a political hack who, without a bit of concern for the truth, misused his office and the taxpayer’s money in an effort at self-aggrandizement. He should have been the one needing an attorney.

in the Guardian–he’s the former head of East Anglia’s climate cabal, but it is also on UTube, that he and his staff could find no warming since 1998 and that he admits the medieval warming period probably produced a hotter climate than we have today.

I’ve forgotten, is it Eurasia or Eastasia that we are at war with? Could somebody post the correct response w/o alerting the ministry of my lapse? I beg of you, please.

While frequently reported as such, that is false. The most recent panel 1. was funded by the University of East Anglia (BBC).2. The panel’s members were appointed by the University of East Anglia. The UK government review before that was similar. The UK would cease to exist without the fake climate industry. Gordon Brown is on record saying carbon trading is key to the economic success of the City of London. There are trillions at stake. I have seen other so-called proof of global warming put out by the media. Among other things, hiding well behind big headlines are words like “may” or “suggest.” Then there are formal retractions. The climate scam is the biggest crime against humanity in history.

may be a year or two of global cooling, up to 1% according to the Weather Channel. When you talk of degrees, the MGW’ers were mostly predicting ONLY a 3 degree world temp. rise in the next century that would produce 20 foot higher sea levels, the loss of islands, the ravaging of the rain forests, and depletion of Himalayan glaciers. What dastardly effects will 1 degree’s cooling produce? Ice bridges from AL to Russia, skiing from Paris to London, glaciers in Chile? Only the Shadow knows.

    • rbdwiggins

The manipulation of temperature data by “climate scientists” accounts for nearly all of the “warming” during the 20th Century. The actual increase in global temperatures was approximately 0.3 C°, and that gain appears to have been erased during the first-decade of the new Millennium.

The international community should be more concerned with mitigating a potentially devastating reduction in the world’s food supply an extended “cooling period” would cause.

intimidation… perhaps the FOI people being checked out should start FOI requests to find out why all the extra scrutiny suddenly on them by the same sorts of organizations should be prosecuting the EA bunch for terrorizing everyone with utterly falsified predictions of global warming and literally tearing down the careers of the ultimately correct skeptics…

The article you link to merely says the local cops are making phone calls and talking to people to see if they can figure out who hacked into the email account. The help from the terrorism group is just because the particular agents helping are computer forensics gurus.

While the information released in those emails was extremely important, hacking into their email Was a crime. And a serious crime at that. Remember how we all blew up with Governor Palin’s email was hacked into? Same deal here, legally.

This is not a big deal and you really should not have portrayed it as one.
