And the chemical plant sits along side the Conneticut River in Brattleboro. (Maybe Brattleboro is south enough along the river that Gov. Shumlin feels that any FURTHER toxic releases will be Massachusetts’ or Conneticut’s problem…)

To the OP, every multi-generational Vermonter could name someone whose last 5 minutes of life either transpired between the top and bottom of a marble, slate or granite quarry, or were hastened due to years in an asbestos mine. Such people will not be likely to worry about fracking.

The true audience for the governor and his Gaian chorus are the same NE Corridor palace courtiers who since the 60s have used VT as a cultural/political Petri dish in which mixtures unfit for national consumption could be carefully tended until the right moment to take off the lid.

VT will always be liberal but declared socialists is way too much to take.
