I Do Not Like It, Uncle Sam! I Do Not Like Your Clean Green Scam!

Will government ever learn? Every time they try to fool the market with some cockamamie attempt at central planning, they create a discontinuity in the market. These discontinuities can often be exploited for gain. That’s when the jackals rush in. The EPA runs a program that is supposed to ensure 36 billion gallons of biofuels are blended into the gasoline supply by 2022. Every gallon | Read More »

Apologies to John Lennon. Concept by Al Armendariz, Administrator of EPA Region VI. Repair Man Jack posted the video with analysis here. No apology is necessary, Mr. Armendariz. In a perverse way, your comments reveal the tactics of your agency, and more importantly, the philosophy which motivates Mr. Obama’s entire Administration. It also speaks of the arrogance of a government that thinks its citizens are | Read More »
When Did the EPA Jump the Shark?
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | December 10th at 02:00 PM |
Iron Eyes Cody cried at the sight of polluted waters and skies in a famous public service announcement, first aired in 1971. Old Iron Eyes may have been a faux-Indian, but his message resonated with people. The Crying Indian PSA was one of the most successful ever. It resonated because it was true. In the early ’70s, the environment was a mess. Urban skies were | Read More »
EPA Ruling Kills Shell’s Plans to Drill Offshore Alaska
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | April 25th at 06:30 PM |
A ruling by the Environmental Appeals Board of the EPA has scuttled Shell Oil Company’s plan to drill its initial exploratory test in Alaska’s Chukchi Sea. This is at least the second time drilling has been deferred or delayed due to environmental concerns. But this time, the reason proffered by EPA seems to be “Because we can.” The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had | Read More »
Obama Finds ‘Strange New Respect’ For Natural Gas
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | November 6th at 12:00 PM |
The President’s post-election remarks contained something of an “olive branch” to Congressional Republicans. It came in the form of a broad hint that the Administration might backpedal on its opposition to natural gas development. Obama’s Enthusiasm for Gas Drilling Raises Eyebrows “We’ve got, I think, broad agreement that we’ve got terrific natural gas resources in this country,” Obama said when he was pressed for issues | Read More »

EPA: Mission Creep on Steroids
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | April 10th at 07:15 AM |
Iron Eyes Cody, the faux-Indian of the Keep America Beautiful ad campaign, had a point. In the 1960s, our environment was a mess. I can remember streams full of suds from non-biodegradable detergents. Litter was a big problem everywhere. The air in major cities ranged from blue to grey to brown. There were two high-profile oil spills, one in California and one in Louisiana. The | Read More »
We’re Taxing Tanning Booths, So Why Not Nail Salons?
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | March 29th at 05:15 AM |
One of the many features of the Health Care Bill that Nancy Pelosi was oh-so-anxious that we boobs find out about is a new 10% tax on tanning services. That one somehow slipped past most Americans as they watched the President’s promised coverage of the health care deliberations on CSPAN. (*Clears throat*) Most “progressive” initiatives have a “Women and Minorities Hardest Hit” angle. This victim-du-jour | Read More »
Fun Facts About Methane
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | December 9th at 07:03 PM |
On Monday, the EPA moved to regulate six “greenhouse gases” by finding that their contribution to Global Warming constitutes a hazard to human health. One of those gases is methane, the lightest and most abundant hydrocarbon, chemical symbol CH4. This finding by the EPA unmasks an unscientific charade and a regulatory power-grab. U.S. Agency to Regulate Greenhouse Gases The announcement was made late Monday and | Read More »
The Anti-Cap and Trade Video That Embarrassed the EPA
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | November 13th at 12:05 AM |
Laurie Williams and Allan Zabel are lawyers in the Environmental Protection Agency’s San Francisco office. They are also married to each other. Williams and Zabel are Global Warming “true believers”. They’ve done the research, and they think the Waxman-Markey-Boxer-Kerry Cap and Trade scheme is a very bad idea. So they wrote a position paper for the website www.carbonfees.org. They wrote an editorial that was published | Read More »
Our EPA: Keeping the Environment Safe for … Mayflies?!
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | September 7th at 11:30 AM |
Even though Iron Eyes Cody, the Crying Indian, was a fake, he had a point: America in the 60′s had become a nasty place. You used to see people throw all kinds of litter out of their cars; nowadays the only socially-acceptable forms of automotive litter are cigarette butts and dirty diapers. No longer do babbling brooks foam from phosphates. Emissions from cars and coal | Read More »
By definition, the Obama Administration is a ‘Pollutant’
By: Steve Maley (Diary) | April 18th at 01:19 PM |
The EPA, in a Friday announcement, declared that six “greenhouse gases”, including carbon dioxide, are “pollutants” worthy of regulation. Quoth Bruce Niles, a Sierra Clubber at HuffPo (find it yourself, if you’re that interested): “Under the Clean Air Act, EPA is now obligated to issue rules regulating global warming pollution from all major sources, including cars and coal-fired power plants. The law specifically states that | Read More »
