Interesting Question

Aren't We All Really Liberals?

*Liberalism is a broad class of political philosophies that consider individual liberty to be the most important political goal.[1]

Liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. Within liberalism there are various streams of thought which compete over the use of the term “liberal” and may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for a number of principles, including freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, an individual’s right to private property,[2] free markets,[2] and a transparent system of government.[3] All liberals, as well as some adherents of other political ideologies, support some variant of the form of government known as liberal democracy, with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law.[4]*

I copied that from Wikipedia. I’ve been thinking, are we all liberals? I mean look for yourself and read the entire definition of the word liberal and what it entails to be a liberal. I’ve come up with half an explanation as to what type of liberal I might be. I think I might be a conservative liberal or a moderate liberal. You see the definition states that liberals believe in individual rights. They believe in free markets, capitalism, small government, and personal liberty.

Open Thread:On This Thanksgiving Day

On this day families across America will gather to give thanks for the good health and safe keeping they enjoy throughout their daily lives. But on this day it is equally important that we not forget those, far away in a land very different than ours, their struggle for freedom and a chance at greatness. That we remember the blessed bounty endowed by our creator manifested on this day, and the coming holiday season. But back to those many who are not fortunate as we are to live in a country as free and as great as the United States of America.

Those people fight a battle against oppression and rule, by which their very basic rights are suppressed and micromanaged by dictators and authoritarians. To be fruitful and thankful for our own bonds of freedom and prosperity and forget those who do not share our claim would be to forget our own long struggle against a king and his mighty empire 200 years ago. I declare this day, as all of you do, a great one. But I also remain vigilant in the fight for freedom around this globe, along side my worldly neighbors. I will mention their cause, and their strife in my prayer; I hope you do the same. And in that prayer I will beckon to my creator to grant to them his gracious gift he has given the people of America. Despite the news of the past few months and weeks we live in the greatest nation god has given mankind. The envy of the world is not the might of our army nor the power of our navy, but the power of our freedom as the only weapon no man made bomb nor blade can deter.

All the peoples of this beloved and sacred nation gather to recognize just how blessed they are, and how much we cannot take for granted. As we’ve seen we can no longer rely on the mindset of “It will always be there” For if we do not preserve this beautiful bounty, sadly her grace and her treasures will soon fade into the winds of time and history. So as I end this short message I wish all of you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. And to those out there in the world whose experiences are less than stellar, the people of this nation are with you and we will fight for you. And hopefully one day when the struggle against evil and oppression’s guns have been silenced, though you do not share our Thanksgiving holiday, hopefully you’ll have more reasons to be thankful in the future.

Cure For the Common Market

Common Sense, Pace, Consequence, Self Control, Hard Work, Contentment

Since the dawn of the modern era we were told and taught as children to save the few pieces of loose change given to us by our parents when we go to the store with them. We were told and taught to value the dollar and to never get ahead of ourselves or lose sight in what we need as oppose to what we want. The differences between “wants” and “needs” have been blurred by the financial bubbles that come along every so often and cause us to get sucked in to a “sure” thing. However the only sure thing is the lose of money and financial meltdowns; as seen here in American today.

But I have the remedy to your economic common cold. And trust me, despite the media diagnosis of a terminal economic cancer, this is indeed common. It is not realistic, nor promised that any economy in any country remain fail proof. It is also not realistic that the American economy, the largest, most dynamic economy sink to the bottom of the ocean for good. Our economic structure impacts even the most developed and rapidly developing nations. China, for instance experience 8% growth last month, and now they are talking about an economic stimulus to jump start their growing economy. But what we possess, at least originally over other nations is an abundance of common sense. Common sense is the best tool in which an economy be managed and grow further. It’s common sense that prevents the bottom from falling out of economic foundation; it will be common sense for now on, that remain the steady hand on the tiller and the only hand I might add.

Open Letter(To Opposer Of Prop 8)

This Is Not A Civil Rights Issue

When the decision came down from the people on whether to ban gay marriage I was both proud of the decision to stand up for traditional values amid the growing call for progressive europeanization of America and also disturbed by the rabid behavior within the homosexual community. As an African American speaking I’m not surprised by the overwhelming support from the black community in regards to Prop 8.

It offends me to hear homosexuals and their supporters balk at the decision made by the people. To hear them label this as a denial of civil rights, and then to liken it to the very struggle of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement was equally offensive if not more. I’m not the only African American who feels this way. Many African Americans who supported Barack Obama voted for Prop 8. Perhaps that’s the most heartbreaking and surprising fact to the gay community. Perhaps they felt well, the blacks know what we’re going through so they’ll support us. Well we don’t know what you’re going through and you don’t know what we went through.

Not being able to get married is different from not being able to vote. Gays can still vote, they can own their own business, get an apartment if they want to, they can work in the movie industry, they can run for office. African Americans in the 60s and prior, not only could we not vote, we couldn’t drink from the same water fountains as whites, ride in the front of the bus, own a business, a property, eat in the same diners, in Hollywood you wouldn’t see an African American leading man. All you got were cooks, piano players, and maids. The “Yes sir Mr. Charlie” and the “I do say Mrs. Scarlett” were the only lines spoken.

Homosexuals were never hung nor had their homes burned for being gay. Sure there are hate crimes but homosexuals were never bound by the single most unjust and immoral law known to man, I speak of Jim Crowe.

So when I hear them chant “Gay, Straight, Black, White, Marriage is a civil right” I get annoyed. I remember the times when my own grandparents were harassed in the deep south for being shades darker than everyone else. I remember my father’s own story of being singled out for having “nappy” hair and big lips.

It’s not just a religious issue, it’s an issue of whether or not gay marriage is a civil right and it is not. Elton John said it best when he stated that straight people have marriage, gay people have civil unions and that’s how it is. No one is denying gay people the right to vote, the right to drink from the same water fountains as everyone else. But there once was a time when those basic rights were denied to black people. When the most simple things were taken away in the most inhuman manner. So don’t tell me about civil rights, I know the topic all too well.

But then again, what is democracy when the courts take it away? When a group of people scorned and filled with selfishness take the streets and threaten church goers and threaten violence against the church? Why do we vote in America? Why did the people even bother voting in California when the activist judges on the California Supreme court honor partisan preference and agenda over the will of the people? The folks voted and they voiced their opinion, live with it. Contrary to popular belief Americans value the traditional foundations that made this country the envy of the world. We don’t want to be like Europe, this is America.

And so when you create this hatred amongst yourselves and you clash well, what does that solve? What measures and consensus building can take place if we just continue to fight and clash over issues? And what is this democracy all about when the will of the people is denied with the stroke of a pen by the Supreme Court. That I think above everything else is the most concerning. When the votes and the voices of the people no longer matter in America. To that I say, god help us all.

Yes I Will

Stand Up For Conservatism

I’m going to do something I’ve never really done before. I’m going to stand up for conservatism. I’m going to stand up against the apologists like Kathleen Parker and David Brooks who gravel at the feet of the liberal media. The ones who in every waking breath apologized for conservative values. David Brooks who all but endorsed Barack Obama. Making every ploy as to why despite his liberal positions Obama would make a better president than John McCain. David Brooks who ceded his principles so that the liberal firing squad wouldn’t light him up with bullets. To Kathleen Parker who wrote an article called “Giving Up On God” in the article she explained the reasons why the GOP should leave the Christian Coalition and the Evangelicals at the door before entering the political arena. People like that have no principle, only expediency and they ain’t to proud to beg.

To the Peggy Noonans’ of the world who made like she hadn’t arrived with the conservative crowd. The elite Republicans who dine with liberals but as soon as the night is over they pretend to be like the “folks” These people are liberal Republican wolves in sheep’s clothing. The only thing they liked about conservatism was Ronald Reagan. Not because Reagan had conservative values, but because Reagan was attractive, fresh, and gave great speeches; sound familiar?

All throughout this campaign who saw the pseudo-conservatives willing to throw each and every one of you under the bus to save their own hide and remain relevant. The media had them afraid to voice their own conservative views, although I doubt they ever really had any to begin with.

Credit To Obama

Snubbing the Left, Leaving Them Aimlessly Lost and Feeling Duped

He led the citizens of Hope, Arkansas, then he made his way into the White House for eight years, now he’s back and he’s taking the country with him. Now your first guest my be Bill Clinton right? But no, surprisingly the Clinton administration is being ushered back in by Barack Obama. Yes folks that’s right, a third term of not George Bush, but Bill Clinton is about to reign in Washington DC. Barack Obama, could he be anymore snubbing the left?

It’s just like with the FISA bill, Obama’s not even trying to hide it. He’s just in plain sight snubbing the left and dumping them after he successfully used them to get into the White House. Ah, old style politics, how I’ve missed you. And to be honest I have to give Obama a lot of credit. I mean he’s basically shutting these people up and rendering them obsolete and irrelevant in one cabinet appointee after another. The latest names leaked are Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano as the head of Homeland Security and former Senator Tom Daschle as the head of Health and Human Services. Both picks sparked negative articles from lefty journalists proclaiming the current appointees are a disappointment.

Apparently the left didn’t get the memo. Obama used you, you fools. He never believed in his own message. How many times do I have to write about this? It seems with every cabinet choice Obama makes the left goes more weary by the day. I know, maybe this is the kryptonite used to vanquish liberalism? So if Obama keeps choosing moderates and small “c” conservatives to his cabinet the progressives will finally go back underground forever. One can dream at least right?

Well I have news for the left. Obama’s idle was a Republican who believed strongly in bipartisan governance and building diverse coalition of cabinet members. Obama identifies more with Lincoln than FDR or George McGovern. And he’s no Euro style progressive either. He’s a born again christian, old style Chicago politician who took advantage of people who were dependent upon him in ways we’ve never seen before. He devoured what was left of puny meaningless lives and turn them into a ticket to the White House. You can’t fault the man nor get angry, you can only give him credit for marginalizing the left without hesitation and without effort. It’s like he sung them songs as he led them off a cliff into black, fading in the distance as they continue to chant his name while going down into the abyss below. Yes, in fact we should thank Mr. Obama for taking out the left so us Republicans wouldn’t have to.

Care For A Laugh?

The DailyKook Kids Are Freaking Out Over Among Others, Joe Lieberman

I was at the Dailykos today reading a blog about the outrage from the left over Joe Lieberman. The lefty red headed stepchildren are pissed off and railing against, way for it, way for it, their prodigal son Barack Obama. They’re saying thins like, “I voted for change, I didn’t vote for this” it’s so funny to see them squirm and throw temper tantrums like kids in a department store. Well, we tried to tell them their obsession and wholehearted dedication to Obama’s “journey” to Washington might result in disillusionment and the feeling of being lost and without meaning. But did they listen? Of course not.

Here’s the link, oh and my comments are on there as well. My user name is Independent113

From A Moderate To A Reasonable Thinker

Obama Must Tread Softly

There’s been some negative reactions coming from the Obama camp as well as some of his most ardent supporters. They’re not so keen to the idea of Hillary Clinton being Secretary of State. In fact they’re not so keen to the idea of Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff, Obama meeting with John McCain, or the prospects of Robert Gates staying on as Defense Secretary.

The emotions felt in the Obama run for president lingered even if Obama himself got over the hype, the passion, and the fanfare. His supporters are getting annoyed with his recent moves because well, they’re wondering where the change is in all of this. A Democratic Strategist close to Obama said that his supporters believed in his campaign and his candidacy more than Obama himself did. This is the part where a lot of letdown will potentially hurt Obama. You see because he owes a lot of hard left organizations and power brokers, not only that the millions of young wide eyed college liberals who basically worshiped Obama are left with a feeling of betrayal because of Obama’s lack of change.

You see when you promise big things and you don’t deliver to those who believed every word you said then you find yourself in some trouble. Sure his supporters were dumb enough to actually believe everything Obama said, but at the same time Obama should have toned down on the lofty, atmospheric promises that no president can deliver in these times. Lowering oceans, ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, combating global warming, giving every young person a means to pay for college, jobbing the jobless, feeding the hungry as he once said in his nomination speech. All of those sound great to naive and impressionable ears but to those who deal within the limits of reality and reason, they sounded foolish and dangerous to even offer.

So the minute Obama glides over the left wing agenda he ran on during the Democratic Primary, the voices in the activist wing of the party who control Pelosi, Reid and the other western Democrats will become furious over the flat out neglect of their ideas. This is also dangerous Mr. Obama

Change We Can Believe In?

If You're A Bumbling, Gullable, Fool It Is

Yes We Can, Yes We Can. Change You Can Believe In! Well, not quite but okay if you really believed that sort of stuff then it’s fine.

It seems President elect Barack Obama is about to add another Clintonista to his arsenal. This time it’s Senator Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State. I don’t know about you but this is starting to reassure me about “the one” at least for now. You see Hillary Clinton brings not only experience but conservative foreign policy points of view to the position. I’d say she’s to the right of George Bush and Condi Rice. She’s certainly to the right of Obama and to be honest she makes up for Obama’s lack of well, you know the term. Just look at her record, she voted for the Iraq war, she voted for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard legislation, she said if Iran attacked Israel the United States would obliterate them, she’s the type of hawk we need right now when our president is such a dove when it comes to foreign issues.

I mean ask yourself who you’d rather have standing up to Ahmadenijad or Vladimir Putin? Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama? That’s a no brainer folks. Plus this almost certainly puts John Kerry’s bid for the Sec of State job on ice. God, please don’t let that obsolete, irrelevant buffoon get the job. I know, many of my conservatives friends here on Red State might object to this but you have to admit Hillary is the best choice for this job.

And for those who bought into the “Change We Can Believe In” talking point well, a team of Clinton era advisers and cabinet members isn’t change, it’s intelligence we can believe in. It’s eight years of peace and prosperity we can believe in. Obama is smarter than people gave him credit for. Yes the left is up in arms over the amount of conservative and moderate Clintonites Obama has on his team but they should have known this man wasn’t about to keep his promises. Especially if he wants to run for reelection in 2012.

Dark Clouds Ahead

The EU Eyes Socialist One World Governing System To Combat Economic Crisis

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown called it cross border governance, French president Nicholas Sarkozy sent a stern demand for serious talks of increased regulations within the global financial sphere. He also demanded several meetings of the G8 and G20 nations tomorrow as well as the future. No this isn’t tea time with France and Great Britain, this is something far worse and apparently something thought to be tossed out onto the ash heap of history, along with Nazism, fascism, and communism…Apparently not. The biggest threat to American capitalism and American sovereignty is a one world financial system. Globalization by itself is bad enough, but when you have so many intertwined economies you’re bound to run into a situation where no amount of means justifies an end. An end to free market capitalism and independence that is. No I’m not some right-wing zealot nor am I some protectionist, I’m simply one who recognizes bad ideas and the storm brewing over the horizon. This tough talk from Gordon Brown and Nicholas Sarkozy is the perfect storm for a one world financial blueprint.

In the latest shots at the US, by the way we’re being blamed for this I hope you all know that, the French president said the dollar was a failed currency that needed some serious reevaluation. Translation? The dollar is obsolete, scrap it for a more efficient universal currency. You see the world has lost faith in the American economic philosophy, our way of doing things. They place the blame of the global collapse on the shoulders of the “greedy” Americans. Yet both China and Brazil use our capitalist style to grow their emerging economies. Both countries also reject the idea of a universal global financing czar that has free range to poke his or her nose in the business of other countries; especially those trying to develop into one of the more respected nations.

I’m Gonna Miss George Bush

Let's All Look Back

Here are some of the lighter moments of the Bush presidency. Now, don’t take this as me making fun of George Bush, I’m not. I’m really going to miss the Bush years because we’ve all gotten so used to them. It almost seems as if Bush had been president for more than eight years. And given the recent news overseas, I’m especially going to miss George Bush’s foreign policy. In my opinion he’s one of the most underrated and successful national security presidents in our history. Sort of like his dad was. We all remember FDR and World War II, Carter for his Iranian hostage crisis blunders, Reagan and the Cold War, Clinton and Bosnia, but few recall George Herbert Walker Bush and him bringing down the Berlin Wall and finishing what Reagan started. Perhaps history will shed more light on the son, than on the father. I believe Iraq will vindicate George W. Bush, that is, if the left-wing media doesn’t indict him for it years and years in the future. Here’s to you, Mr. President. A time now, to laugh.

The New Frontier

Common Sense In The Republican Party

You know what type of Republican I am? I’m a common sense Republican. I’m a Republican in the way Eisenhower was and I also hold views outside my party. But more important than my views is my common sense. What ever happened to that? And this scarcity of common sense isn’t prone to the GOP alone. When I talk about common sense I speak of simple fundamental tools needed in order for a country like ours to function in an orderly manner. For all this talk of being the world’s leading advanced and modernized nation we sure lack the most simple thing: Common sense. I cannot say the word enough, we need so much of it right now.

My party has gone the way of the corporate crowd. Reaganism led the way, free markets, and less government, low taxes, those ideas seem to elevate the very sector that has ruined the economy today; I speak of the Wall Street types who rode the wave of Reaganomics during the 1980s. What had become apparent was the disconnect between the working middle class and the GOP. The “Country Club” label stuck like glue. What we’re missing in our party is a real down to earth, independent, Teddy Roosevelt type of Republican who could rally the folks behind a populist message without alienating people. Populism, like it or not is the type of song Americans want sung to them. Down in the mud Americans who aren’t so easily swayed by the low tax, national security argument. I don’t know it just seems so out dated to argue lower taxes and restraint spending in such a general term. It sounds like the run of the mill generic Republican mantle. Many Conservatives want to go back to that generic platform. But every era has its theme. The 80s was the era of Ronald Reagan, his conservative economic ideas and his battle with expansive government. The 90s was the era of Clinton, who showed us that Democrats aren’t always falling under the same style of McGovern, Mondale, and Jimmy Carter. Clinton brought a small “c” governing style to a party built on nanny state government and “economic justice” There’s no doubt Bill Clinton stonewalled the Progressive movement for a good 15 years when he was in office.

Then came the 2000s and the era of George W. Bush. His “Compassionate conservative” platform argued for change, for a more conciliatory approach to foreign policy and economics. Bush argued that we need to change the Clinton model of foreign policy so that our allies could embrace us again. Instead what we got was moderate socialism and preemptive foreign policy built on unilateralism and obliviousness to our allies, especially in Europe.

Despite the different eras and their successes, each of them lacked the most important element, common sense. Whether it was Reagan’s inability to gather more of the middle class under his Reaganomics umbrella, Clinton failing to address the rapid growth of Wall Street and the deregulation of Fannie and Freddie, or George W. Bush and his irresponsible trade practices resulting in a large deficit, and domestic job loss.

I’m Going To Defend Barack Obama

From The World

Have you heard? President elect Barack Obama has made it cool again to be American. Well, at least that’s the sentiment from our global friends and Americans living and or working abroad. The Americans abroad were saying that they now feel proud to call themselves American as oppose to being not so proud? Well I mean one of the most unfair charges America as a whole had been tagged with was the claim that since George Bush had a horrific effect on world leaders, then America shared that same sort of arrogant approach to Europe, the Middle East, and elsewhere. But you see it’s like Sarah Baxter said to Brett Baer, America never changed, the rest of the world did.

And so assuming the love fest and the great expectations of Barack Obama will carry on past his historic inauguration, well, forewarning to Europe and the rest of the world: Obama will look after American interests first and foremost. Sorry to disappoint, but don’t hold your breath. You see Obama is a politician, I suppose the world didn’t get the memo? Obama wants to send more troops into Afghanistan, Pakistan, and he will most certainly leave troops in Iraq. You see Europe’s biggest problem with the Bush Administration has been their willingness to act like they have balls. We all know that for the past eight years Europe has proven they have none. They’ve continually waved or thought about waving the white flag of surrender in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in dealing with terrorism. Europe cannot solve their own Islamic extremist problem so they fold up their tent and relinquish their system of government and their laws.

But that is what makes America and our president “cool” again right? America’s willingness to actually stand and fight for freedom and our lively hood? You see if Europe has their way, Obama will adhere to their needs and demands. But we all know Obama better than the second rate Europeans who chant his name and go bananas over his very existence. Obama has stated in several news interviews that he will govern from the center, as all presidents do.

Rockford Grand New Party Speech Preview

My Speech To The Grand New Party At Rockford College

Let us combine what is the best of us, in order to grow this party we both proudly call our own. Last Tuesday we witnessed the most profound indictment of the Republican Party since the time of Richard Nixon and Watergate. And the crimes committed by our leaders in Washington, the president, vice president, and the one time Republican Congress are equivalent to Nixon’s Watergate scandal. But as I’ve said before I will proudly say to you, our party will never fade into the throws of obscurity and irrelevance, but instead regain our moral compass and our deep rooted beliefs that were represented through Lincoln, and Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan. My fellow student members we mustn’t forget the overall theme of our duty, and how those causes effect not only our own lives, but more importantly the lives of Americans in the future. For when we leave the halls of this prestigious and wonderful institution, we will embark on a path all our own, and change the course of history.

You know I’m often surprised at the engagement and the response by my fellow Republicans here at Rockford College. Whenever our voices were small in number we never felt as though we were too insignificant to hold favor along side our Democrat friends and classmates. And why is that? I believe it’s our principles that keep us grounded and remind us what we’re fighting for. There will be those who will challenge us to abandon our ideals, and to relinquish our true identity for sake of political gain and selfish agenda. But to them I say that I am not willing to sacrifice all that I am, for a stake in half truths and unjust practice. I cannot trade my beliefs for success, after all we’re nothing when our core has been forsaken, and the so called treasures we gave in to are spent.

I ask all of you here with me to never give up on the cause in which promotes independence and community. For without either fundamental tool, the house in which we reside cannot hold against the wicked winds of division and indoctrination. Without an inch of restraint on our own self aggrandizing motivations we will fall, without a firm grip on the tiller of our own agenda above the collect good at large this party and it’s future will surely crack and crumble. So again I ask you to hold off on the temptation to make it all about you, and rarely about others. So I end this coming together of young minds and innovative vision with these words:*To whom do you serve? Will you promote a cause that go undeterred, or will you let your beliefs be deferred? *

Are You Smarter Than Sarah Palin

Well Are You?: An Obama Administration Preview

Are you able to think on your own? Well, are you? Are you capable of acting as if you’re responsible for who you are and how you go about your daily lives? Apparently those who object to the very existence of Sarah Palin couldn’t possibly answer any of the questions I just asked. You want know why? Because they’re all mouth pieces and puppets that’s why. Broken records lacking the intellect and the individual gumption to think in a manner that signals independent thought. I find myself surrounded by those on television and in my own little world who take recycled sound bites and half truths delivered as credible information and puke it back to you as if they came up with the cockamamie notions on their own. Is this what where we’re headed for the next four years?

The liberal media gets to enjoy the under the table hand rub by Barack Obama(Chris Matthews must be happy right about now) The most important issue facing president elect Barack Obama is the very pressing choice of what type of dog he’s going to get for his daughters. Nah, never mind the economy, he’s going to give us all welfare checks so it should work itself out. Oh and the Russians deploying missiles in Poland to offset the US missile defense system, that’s irrelevant compared to the types of drapes his wife is going to buy for the White House. Get with the program you know nothings, the Obama’s are stylin’ and profilin.

But the most annoying gush fest comes from the less intelligent and serious media such as Hollywood Insider and Extra. They had a portion of the show called “Are You Smarter Than Sarah Palin” well I have a question for the host Mario Lopez, “Are you working more than one day a week?” “Are the Save By The Bell royalty checks supporting you in these economic times?” You see my own skepticism of Palin never transformed me into a mean spirited jerk. I was respectful in my concerns over her dealings with legit issues. Her wardrobe and her mistaking Grand Rapids, Michigan for Cedar Rapids, Iowa aren’t legit issues. I mean after all Iowa is but one state out of 57. Because well, not even George Bush made that mistake. And he once said “strategery”

So if the media is going to rail against Palin and drink from the Obama tree for the next four years then perhaps a pair of ear plugs and the device used in Men in Black to wipe away someone’s memory could be of good use. Gosh, how I miss the ever reliable team of common sense and independent thought. Where have you gone in such a time of ignorance and moronic dribble. Drool cup anyone?

If You Don’t Know Where You’ve Been, You Don’t Know Where You’re Headed

The Republicans Know Not Where They're Headed

Fighting amongst themselves like little school girls fighting over the same boy they both happen to like. Using Governor Palin as the scapegoat for all the ills the GOP suffered in this election. Boy the party of Eisenhower and Lincoln just don’t get it. I don’t know how many times I can point out the obvious before the so called “leaders” of this crumbling party will understand.

The GOP actually created a website asking for help as to what direction the party should go. I see, you can’t even figure out what direction the party should go in? No wonder we lost on Tuesday. If you gave a Republican a map to find his home he’d get lost. The party itself is so far out into the wilderness they’d need a compass to find their butts. This party is fractured like I’ve never seen before, and as a newcomer my own suggestions are met with visceral response and feet dragging resistance. So is their hope for the GOP? Yes, if they leave their egos at the door, along with the out dated ideological frames of Reaganism.

The first step in the process is to expand. This party needs moderates, we need John McCain Republicans, we don’t need more Reagan replicas. We need to own issues of social strife such as poverty, and we need progress beyond the issues of the 1980s and 1990s. National Security is one of those issues. We can still have good ideas about National Security without being the Party of National Security. We need to be more specific when it comes to fiscal restraint and spending. It’s not enough to say “Well, earmarks this and earmarks that” because quite frankly it’s been the most cliche’ and boring argument of the past twenty or so years. No one cares about earmarks because the majority of Americans wouldn’t know an earmark from an earache.

The GOP Needs Young Grassroots Leadership

Why I'm Running For Congress in 2014

I’m running for Congress in the state of California in 2014. I’ll be the exact age eligible to run for such office. I’m running not only to restore some credibility to the GOP, but to also expand our party with young people and moderates who I’ve met in college and elsewhere. My own experience as a humanitarian allowed me to settle on a narrative of common sense and reason. I believe my party lost the will and ability to reason with the American people. So often the Republican Party fell slave to the conservatives dragging their feet on every issue that arose in this day and time. Now is the time however for our party to relinquish its tendency to close its doors to outsiders. Now is the time to lay down the weapons of division and litmus exams in order for people to become one of you. Why should they become one of you? Why can’t our party be diverse in both color, creed, and race, as well as ideology and vision?

That’s why I’m running for Congress in 2014. I want to show the rest of America that the Republican Party got the message in 2008. That the party finally listened and reflected on the utter rejection of our failed agendas and outdated ideas. And for me it’s simple. I want to start bringing more people into the party who are moderate, independent thinking, and reasonable in the way they approach politics. I no longer seek the approval of ideologues who cram themselves in a culture war that is quickly fading from the minds of many Americans who were born after the 1960s. It’s not our job to force feed conservatism to those who do not think like us, it’s our job, as the party of my hero Dwight Eisenhower and of president Lincoln to lead.

History, A Convicted Party, A Hero Wrongly Takes The Fall

Last night as I watched Senator Obama capture the presidency, two thoughts came to mind. My first though was my sense of pride. I was proud of a minority winning the White House. I don’t think my lack of trust or my suspicion of Barack Obama could hamper my feeling of pride and to be honest, happiness for him. Politically he’s just wrong for America. But symbolically he couldn’t be more right for America. As I sat around friends and classmates at Rockford I saw tears of sadness for McCain, and tears of joy for Obama. And I turned to one of my classmates who like me hoped for a McCain win, though deep down we both knew it wasn’t meant to be. I told her there was nothing we could do, McCain was but one man against the armies of history. He just didn’t have it in him to prevail.

The second thought that rang in my head was the utter failure of the Republican Party and the damage left behind by George Bush. My fellow RedStaters our party is absolutely broken, if there ever was. This party got the reality check it so desperately needed in order to survive the present and rebound in the future. Part of me said “You know what, we deserve this.” And I can’t find one Republican who thinks otherwise. We failed the American people and in return the American people have spoken. Barack Obama is our 44th president and I call on conservatives in the party to respect that. You may not support him but you have to recognize him as your president for the sake of unity and if you love your country you will do so.

McCain, god love him he’s one of my heroes but the wind was too strong for him to make it. Jesus himself would have lost as a Republican to Obama. History was calling for change and America answered.

I Hope McCain Wins

But Above All I Hope America Will Heal After Tonight

Watching live feeds from Fox News I saw two members of the New Black Panther Party standing outside a polling station in Philadelphia. One of the men was carrying a police nightstick and yelling “I’m tired of white supremacy” I hope we all learn how to act civil toward one another regardless of who wins. Sure we can go on and on about Obama and his radical nature, McCain representing Bush’s third term, but we must also understand that we’re all Americans and that cliche cannot be taken with a grain of salt. I fear that if Obama loses African Americans will riot and the racial wounds we thought would finally heal with Obama’s candidacy would only open more.

We can all hope for McCain to win and Obama supporters can hope Obama wins but we must all hope and pray this nations heals and united behind whomever takes the oath of office. We must remember that our voices count above anything else and we’ll always have the power to pick and choose the person we feel will represent our values and our better angels as Americans. That my friends sets us apart from any other nation on earth. Our sense of community and our fighting spirit. So let’s all go out there and vote, be respectful to the opposing side, even if they show disrespect to you. We’re all better than this.

And if McCain shall lose then we will united behind Barack Obama and make sure he doesn’t screw up. If he does then well, we’ll toss him out in four years. That’s the beauty of America.

Now, go out there and vote. It’ll make you feel a whole lot better.

Because You Want What's Best For Your Country

If you don’t elect Barack Obama as your next president. Millions of irrelevant foreigners are crowding the internet to pledge their support for Barack Obama. Good thing they will never vote in this election or elections in the future. The fact of the matter is that many Europeans and others in the world are simply clueless when it comes to American voting methods and what we Americans take into account before we cast a ballot. First off whether you support Obama or McCain, I think I speak for everyone in the good ol’ US of A when I say that I’m proud to be an American and I’m proud of our democracy.

Yet the world seems to be reading from a list of demands like a gunman with a room full of hostages. One women from Russia said that the American people need to vote based on the world’s interests and not our own. Has it gotten to the point where America has to babysit the entire globe? Are people in other countries that incapable? Instead of depending on America to bail them out and coddle them, why not take a few pages from our playbook so you can be strong like us? Just a thought. One student in Cape Town said he supported Obama(no surprised) because Obama had a world view while McCain and Palin only cared about American issues such as lower taxes and a stronger American economy. The theme with the foreign voices seems to be this sense that America can no longer support and preserve its own national interests because the world depends on us so much for everything. So we Americans must be considerate of those who serve no benefit to our country nor do they vote.

Eh, just another reason why I’m proud to be an American. But I guess if wanting whats best for your country is a crime then why haven’t Europeans objected to Russia or China? Why is it always America who gets blamed? You mean to tell me that we can no longer ensure that our own country is safe, prosperous and well grounded for our own children and grandchildren? Uh, message to the global community watching this election: This is OUR election for OUR next president of OUR United States of OUR America. You have no say, no one’s listening, no one cares. Cause you can’t vote, so shut up and deal with whoever the AMERICAN people choose. We know what we’re doing. We wouldn’t have been around this long as the lone superpower in the world if we didn’t.
