“Gubbmint isn’t the solution,” Ronald Reagan famously said. “Gubbmint is the problem!” Well, until Al Gore invented our wonderful Internet world, there were darn few ways we common citizens could highlight just what the “problem” of government was. But, happily, we bloggers have become the modern version of our Founders plying the pamphleteer’s trade. Now, via the incredible world of blogging, we can spy a government abuse and cast the harsh light of public scrutiny upon it. And we can do it in the blink of an eye. All we need is our computers and a little Internet access.
But, now gubbmint is trying to find ways to make it harder for us to highlight their evil, wasteful, illegal ways. For now comes the Democrat Party of the State of Washington trying to reinvent bloggers as “lobbyists” so that we can be regulated out of existence.
Or, if they don’t exactly want bloggers regulated out of existence, Democrats at least want to put bloggers in such a position that there are fewer of them because of gubbmint’s onerous regulations.
The Seattle Times is reporting that Washington state regulators are considering just that question. Are blogger “lobbyists”? Of course, the answer is no, no, a thousand times no. Even if we make money with our blogs, it does not amount to “lobbying.”
But, beware, fellow bloggers. Whenever gubbmint eyes something, it is rarely long before it gets its grubby hands fully around it.
So, get ready to have gubbmint pry into your personal finances just so you might have the “privilege” of being “allowed” to blog about politics.
Or, you could just blog about sports, or movies. Just forget about all that gubbmint business. What is it of yours, anyway? Let the smarter, better, more refined folks in gubbmint take care of all that. Don’t worry your little heads about it.
So says Big Brother. So shall it be.

Figures, doesn't it?
itsonlywords Sunday, November 23rd at 12:32PM EST (link)I did a diary entry on this last night.
Tu ne cede malis sed contra audientor ito. ~Virgil
Do not give in to evil, but proceed evermore boldly against it.
Unlikely
bs Sunday, November 23rd at 2:24PM EST (link)Combine the almost impossible nature of trying to prevent Internet anonymity with offshore hosting of servers, and the state (or nation, for that matter) has almost no way of enforcing this. The only way of doing it would be to impose ChiComm-style web site filters, and neither the left nor the right would stand for that.
Very, very unlikely.

JOY BEHAR ON HOMESCHOOLING
GENE_LALOR Monday, November 24th at 12:21AM EST (link)**Will the government please “go after” Joy Behar!?
JOY BEHAR AND THE NEA
“The View’s” views are so skewed to the left that the show should be re-titled, “The Leftist View” and none of its panelists is more liberal, ignorant, hateful, and bigoted than Joy Behar.
Sometimes, however, Behar outdoes herself in the stupid department such as when she recently said of kids who are taught at home, “A lot of them are demented when they’re homeschooled.”
Feel free to watch the clip here and notice that Behar’s outrageous put down of homeschooling gets barely a blip of a reaction from the other women on “The View:” http://michellemalkin.com/2008/11/19/demented-joy-behar-disses-homeschool-students/.
Even the only conservative voice on the show, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who normally takes on Behar, doesn’t react nor does the clownish Whoopi nor the Botox queen, Baba Wawa.
I guess it becomes tiresome to react to Behar’s ignorance when it’s so repetitive.
Calling homeschooled kids demented, however, demands rebuttal since the comment reflects an attack on all those kids and on their parents who are choosing to bypass the traditional educational system in favor of having control over what their kids learn and how they learn it.
The chief articulated criticisms of homeschooling is that the home teachers, normally the parents, are unqualified to properly instruct their charges and that as a result of being isolated from their peers for six or so hours a day, the children are missing the “socializaton” they would experience in a classroom environment on a daily basis with twenty or thirty other kids.
What goes unspoken is that homeschooled kids and their at-home teacher-parents have the audacity to buck the establishment.
Aside from the fact that Behar is totally unqualified to make her own pronouncements on every issue confronting the human race, her dissing of homeschooling is truly over the top.
The divorced mother of a thirty-seven year old daughter, Behar is a former public school teacher which in itself should have given her pause before uttering that slander. But, no, that background proved no obstacle to her slamming kids as retarded, crazy, unbalanced, and insane, all of which are synonymous with her chosen word, demented.
And just why are they demented?…

OBAMA XLV
June 22nd, 2008
Ok, we’ve been told Obama is the new JFK, brainy, handsome, eloquent, etc. etc. etc. Well, I don’t know about any of that, especially about his eloquence when he doesn’t have his script. Take a listen to a few examples o
