Here Are The Senate Republicans That Voted to Confirm Tax Cheat Geithner

Keep the following names in your wallet just in case the IRS comes knocking at your door to arrest you for any possible “mistakes” in your payment of federal taxes, won’t you? For these are the names of those Republican Senators that one can rely upon to absolve us for being a tax cheat. In fact, if you play your cards right, you might even get a cushy government job out of the deal. These are the Senators that don’t think being a law abiding tax payer is a necessary requirement for being Secretary of the Treasury:

Corker (R-TN) - (202) 224-3344
Cornyn (R-TX) - (202) 224-2934
Crapo (R-ID) - (202) 224-6142
Ensign (R-NV) - (202) 224-6244
Graham (R-SC) - (202) 224-5972
Gregg (R-NH) - (202) 224-3324
Hatch (R-UT) - (202) 224-5251
Shelby (R-AL) - (202) 224-5744
Snowe (R-ME) - (202) 224-5344
Voinovich (R-OH) - (202) 224-3353

On the other hand, here are those unrelenting bores that seem to insist that tax laws are written in stone and that, darn it all, one should not be given high public office when it is discovered that one is a tax cheat!

Alexander (R-TN), Barrasso (R-WY), Bennett (R-UT), Brownback (R-KS), Bunning (R-KY), Burr (R-NC), Chambliss (R-GA), Coburn (R-OK), Cochran (R-MS), Collins (R-ME), DeMint (R-SC), Enzi (R-WY), Grassley (R-IA), Hutchison (R-TX), Inhofe (R-OK), Isakson (R-GA), Johanns (R-NE), Kyl (R-AZ), Lugar (R-IN), Martinez (R-FL), McCain (R-AZ), McConnell (R-KY), Murkowski (R-AK), Risch (R-ID), Roberts (R-KS), Sessions (R-AL), Specter (R-PA), Thune (R-SD), Vitter (R-LA), Wicker (R-MS)

Heartless of these stick-in-the-mud Senators to expect someone to have actually followed tax laws when being proposed as Secretary of the Treasury, isn’t it?

(And, to be fair, here are the Democrats and Independents that voted against Geithner’s confirmation: Byrd (D-WV), Feingold (D-WI), Harkin (D-IA), Sanders (I-VT))

As I said last night Voinovich could not bring himself to vote for John Bolton. Voice breaking, tears streaming down his face standing on the heads of his grandchildren and saying his nay vote was for them.

I guess this shows that Voinovich wants his grandchildren to live under the threat of Islamic terrorists and to be bankrupt at the same time. Someone get him out of the Senate before he offers his grandchildren as human sacrifices.

I guess they think...

…they’re saving their politicol capitol for a greater battle. They just don’t understand - the battle is on and will be non-stop until 2010. At which time, I pray, we can take back the House, the Senate or both. DD

Isn't much of a battle when so many of the troops surrender.

Who’s gonna be our voice? Who out there is going to stand up for America? Who ever it is they better be quick about it because we’ve already lost several fights since the Inauguration.

Intro to Federalist Papers; section 5;
paragraph 4.
“…dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the zeal for a firm and efficient government.”

I’m an embarrassment to Barack!

I only scored 17 on the Obama Test

What political capital?

I’m thoroughly disgusted with the invertebrates posing as politicians.

Here’s an idea: howzabout they do the right thing just because it IS the right thing?

Glad he's leaving

ckincincy Tuesday, January 27th at 8:37AM EST (link)

Voinovich is a waste of a senator. I am glad he is leaving because I wouldn’t have been able to vote for him in 2010.

The best thing for Ohio democrats has been Voinovich and Bob Taft.

Cornyn (TX)?! I'm shocked.

Sending letter of diappointment. Letter of praise also goes to Hutchison (TX).

Shocked actually

kat Tuesday, January 27th at 9:18AM EST (link)

To see Specter’s vote with the nays. I will have to send him a note of encouragement - keep on with the nays.

We cannot forget who voted yea when their next election cycle comes around. You can’t tell me we can’t find a real conservative in Texas for example, to replace Cornyn. I think I know the Lone Star State better than that. Maine may be a little tougher, but no one ever got anything worth getting without work.

And finally, as I read over at Ace’s ,@#$! each and every one of them.

“Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” Thomas Jefferson

I quote Rachel from "Friends",

skicougar Tuesday, January 27th at 10:20AM EST (link)

In regards to Geithner, “once a cheater, always a cheater.” She said that phrased used by many women about cheating men in one Friends episode.

We’re supposed to believe this guy skirted the rules all tax payers live by in line for the NY Fed and then the Fed chair and he’s going to not skirt the rules again when he needs to.

I wonder if we’ll actually think Paulson was not so bad within 4 years.

It’s up to the GOP leaders, if they straighten up, clean house and follow the party platform; it’s a quick trip back to control; but 2 years after 2006; America still waits to see it.

Why do you people keep expecting the Beltway Aristocracy

Tbone Tuesday, January 27th at 11:05AM EST (link)

to exhibit any moral awareness? Government is evil because the majority of those in government, whether politicians or bureaucrats, seek those positions out of either greed of gain or the gain of power over their fellow humans.

Does anyone believe that had this over-educated, over-paid and under-principled piece of pond scum would have been confirmed by any 100 small business persons gathered together? In fact, I doubt that if you gathered up 100 hookers, street corner drug dealers and shoplifters that they would have confirmed this piece of high class scum because at least they know right from wrong. An awareness which politicians progressively shed like snake skin each additional year they are in office.

Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.

I was shocked

Vegas_Rick Tuesday, January 27th at 12:25PM EST (link)

the Ensign voted yea. And extremely disappointed. He’s been a fairly reliable conservative vote in the past.

I sent him a blazing e-mail last night. Not that it will do any good.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge.

I send blazing e-mails all day long. If thousands and tens of thousands do the same then it might make a difference.

Any Republican to the Left of Specter has issues

Their next election needs to be their last.

Photobucket “Unlike cruel liberty that requires you to stand and take responsibility for your choices, kind tyranny requires only that you kneel and surrender your choices.”

There are things to like about Senator Specter

David123 Tuesday, January 27th at 12:51PM EST (link)

1. Support of Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court
2. Opposition to Geitner
3. Tough questioning of Holder

I don’t think people mind principled centrist republicans nearly as much as republicans who abandon their principles. Backstabbers bother me more than basicly loyal, principled centrist republicans

Apparently, he doesn’t mind Geithner so much anymore…

Geithner ala Barkley, "I am not a role model."

skicougar Tuesday, January 27th at 6:08PM EST (link)

I figure that needs to be Geithner’s new motto as many of us will be paying more taxes starting sometime this year, yet the new head of the IRS proceeds to live by his own rules.

I don’t know if Barkely has trademarked that prhase requiring Geitner to pay for its use; but I really don’t expect Geithner to pay anyways.

I just expect Geithner will expect us to pay.
