Transparency, Czars, and Experts Are Obama’s Smoke and Mirrors

Obama has no intention of living up to campaign rhetoric...

A few days ago, Politico reported that Obama’s vaunted Economic Recovery Advisory Board supposedly headed by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker has not even met yet, six weeks after its storied birth at the president’s behest, months after Obama began to shrilly say that we are in the “emergency” of an economic crisis.

Worse, it was revealed that some of the members of this “board” have met, but in smaller groups and in private making the lie to Obama’s self-reverential, and now prosaic claim of the importance he was to place on government transparency.

Unions Harass Employees in Albion, Ind.

Union thugs being union thugs...

It’s the normal tale of union thugs acting like union thugs.

At an auto part plant in Indiana, one woman was threatened because she didn’t want the union. Why was she threatened? Because she and her fellow workers were involved in a card check effort and EVERYONE knew what her vote was. Once the union thugs found out she was against their unionization, they harassed her and threatened her to vote their way.

This sort of thuggery is what President Obama, Congressional Democrats, and union thugs everywhere want to visit upon EVERY U.S. worker.

Constitution, Schmonstitution — What Gov’t Wants it Takes Law or No

Do Americans even know anything about the Constitution anymore?

I propose that “Dueling Banjos” replace our current national anthem. Remember the 1972 movie Deliverance with Burt Reynolds? OK, recall that scene of the goofy looking kid plucking out “Dueling Banjos” on the porch? That kid was supposed to represent a backwards, inbred, and half sentient hillbilly if you’ll recall. Well, that is officially the United States of America today.

No, I am not saying that the country is like a slack-jawed southerner, but is instead like an inbred, uneducated fool. I am not talking about genetic inbreeding here, either. I am saying this country has become like a dumbed-down, socially and historically illiterate, inbred, incurious, fool, one that understands one thing and one thing only: entertainment. We can thank our putrefying “education” establishment for this as well as the coarsening culture about us.

The reason I am drawn to this sad conclusion is the complete ignorance of the people of this country to the rule of law. Not just the ignorance evinced by the self-empowering politicians and the activist judges, but the bulk of the population. The Constitution has at last become a document that has no meaning to the largest number of Americans.

Name That Party: 3 Dems in FBI Probe, Party Affiliation Omitted/Buried

I think it is finally getting to the point that when an Old Media story goes out over the wires without mentioning the party affiliation of troubled politicians, people naturally assume that all the criminal actions in said story are being perpetrated by Democrats. But, that assumption aside, we are still seeing reports nearly every day that omit the “Democrat” in any story involving criminal Democrats. Here is yet another one.

The Associated Press posted a story on the FBI’s probe of questionable campaign donations to Senator Patty Murray and Representative Norm Dicks of Washington state. The possibly worrisome donations were from PMA Group, a lobbying firm founded by an aide of Representative John Murtha of Pennsylvania. With all these politician’s names being thrown around in the AP report, though, it is curious that not a one of them were ever identified as Democrats. Not once.

LAT Torn: Do We Cover for Obama or Puff Pelosi? Let’s Try BOTH!

The L.A. Times took upon itself a difficult task. The chore: to make it seem like Obama is in control of Congress at the same time that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is still a powerhouse there. The truth of the matter is that Barack Obama has revealed little influence over the Democrat majority in the House of Representatives but the Times wants to make it seem as if Obama is firmly in charge to puff his reputation. To do that, it would have to prove that Pelosi is taking a back-seat to the president. Yet, the Times also wants to show support for Pelosi. The resulting article is filled with one contradiction after another as it ends up attempting to say that both of them are in charge of the House. Quite a few journalistic backflips were made in the effort, too.

The L.A. Times headlined its piece, “Pelosi’s role diminishes under Obama.” This headline might tend to tell the reader that Nancy Pelosi has stepped back from her iron-fisted control of the House to allow Obama to push his agenda. Yet, even as the first six paragraphs of the piece starts that way, most of the article tends to dispute both the headline and the concept that Pelosi has relinquished any control at all to the White House. In fact, it says just the opposite, that she is just as firmly in control as ever, ceding nothing to Obama.

SF Chron Reports ‘Massive’ Anti-War Protest, Completely Ignored Equally Large Cincy Tea Party

L.A.Times reporting only the lefty protests

Back on March 15, Noel Sheppard noted that the San Francisco Chronicle completely ignored the thousands of average Americans that came together in Cincinnati, Ohio to protest Obama’s unprecedented take over of the US economy. The Cincinnati Tea Party truly was massive but is just one of the many dozens of Tea Party protests that have occurred — and are continuing to occur — all across the country in the last two months. Still, the SF Chronicle didn’t see any reason to cover the rally.

But never fear for the Chronicle does enjoy a good protest, nonetheless. As long as it’s of a leftist, anti-war flavor, of course. Witness the Chron’s coverage of the “Massive anti-war, anti-Wall Street protest in San Francisco” from this weekend, March 21.

NY Dem Steals Republican Email

Another in our series of examples of the failure of Obama's "post-partisan" presidency...

You might recall the gyrations that Democrats made about Bush’s “most secretive presidency”? One item upon which the Democrats focused their ire was the system by which the Bush administration saved White House email communications in order to satisfy the Presidential Records Act. Bush was definitely amiss in properly saving them for posterity (and legality) and it cost the government millions to go back to retrieve unstored emails.

As we all know, Congressional Democrats made a big show of their concern over those lost emails and constantly sent public letters to the White House to force compliance with the records act. It was a piece with their “worst president in history” campaign so lovingly crafted and diligently carried out.

Now, however, it appears that public letters to the president asking about compliance with the Presidential Records Act are a tad less important to Congressional Democrats. Even though the White House has not answered any requests from Congress on how compliance will be carried out, Democrats are less keen to push the issue.

Stimulus: Obama Stiffs Alabama Condoms For Cheap Chinese Knockoffs

The Obama administration has decided to buy cheap Chinese condoms instead of the U.S. made products it had been distributing for its efforts to spread condoms around the world by the U.S. Agency for International Development. So much for Obama’s “Buy American” promise.

Condom makers in Alabama will likely lose this business and perhaps as many as 300 American jobs. USAID plans to stimulate new contracts with a South Korean condom manufacturer and a Chinese company instead of Alatech, the Alabama manufacturer.

So, while Obama talks about American stimulus, USAID is deflating one American company in favor of causing foreign stocks to rise, screwing the economy in Alabama at least for Alatech and its 300 employees.

Isn’t it great that we have a president like Obama so willing to give our economy the injection it needs?

Teen Suicide Brings Wrong Call for Regulation

No one wants to see a beautiful 18-year-old girl commit suicide. No one wants to make any worse the pain that surviving family members feel. No one wants to make light of the situation that causes a child or young person to chose suicide, either. But high emotion makes for bad laws and this is no exception.

Last year, Jessica Logan imagined that she was sending a nude cell-phone photo of herself only to her new boyfriend. But he was not as circumspect as she might have hoped passing the salacious picture to his friends, and they to theirs, until it surged through some seven Cincinnati high schools.

It wasn’t long before Jessica was the butt of jokes and the target of epithets like “slut” and “porn queen.” The ribbing shook her so hard that she hanged herself in her bedroom last July.

And now, parents Albert and Cynthia Logan want new laws passed to somehow stop “sexting” of nude or half nude photos from one teen’s cell-phone to another. Unfortunately, such laws are just a bad idea. They will do nothing to stop the low-born practice while only piling more strangling regulations on the business community as well as giving government and police officials even more intrusive powers into our individual lives.

Lies Used to Support Card Check

The Shop Floor is reporting once again on the lies that the SEIU is using to try and cajole people into thinking that the Wall Street Journal supports the Employee Free Choice Act, today. But now that story has taken a twist. It appears that the House Education and Labor Committee is using the same lie.

Originally the SEIU surgically removed a few words from the WSJ article to make it seem as if the Journal was somehow supporting the EFCA. On what the WSJ said, the SEIU wrote the following:

“The bill doesn’t remove the secret-ballot option from the National Labor Relations Act,” wrote the WSJ.

Only that isn’t really what the WSJ said at all. Here is the full sentence the Journal wrote in its headlined “Unionize or die” (my bold for emphasis):

“The bill doesn’t remove the secret-ballot option from the National Labor Relations Act but in practice makes it a dead letter.”

So, in essence the WSJ was saying that the EFCA eliminates the secret ballot in everything but words.

It’s ME on the 2nd Amendment

You can see this and any future videos on my NMATV channel

VP Biden’s Union Friend, Video Taped and Arrested for Pickpocketing

VP Biden caught palling around with pickpocketers... and I don't just mean the Congressional kind!

During the late presidential campaign, vp candidate Joe “gimme a f*ing break” Biden visited with his friends at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in Iowa. Joe was in The Hawkeye State to participate in some union campaign boilerplate called Walk A Day In My Shoes. There he “walked” with an upstanding union fella named Marshall Clemons, custodian for an Iowa school system and SEIU member.

So, the vice president “walked” in Clemons’ shoes one day helping him replace air conditioning filters and sweeping floors. It was a feels good day all around, for sure. But Clemons now has a new walk to take, one generally known as a perp walk. You see Clemons was video taped by an alert lobbyist stealing people’s wallets out of unguarded purses and bags in the Iowa State House in Cedar Rapids. Police caught Biden’s buddy with several stolen wallets when they arrested him later in the men’s bathroom there.

Now, we have one set of “shoes” going to jail. I wonder if Biden will be walking in them again any time soon?

Naturally, a great little video was quickly produced to capitalize on this pickpocketing, VP buddy and union thug:

I guess that Clemons excused his theft because, after all, he was stealing from evil lobbyists in the Iowa Statehouse. I mean, we all know that lobbyists aren’t really even human, right? They deserve to be stolen from… right? I mean it’s not like union members, the salt of the earth dontcha know, have any lobbyists of their own. Uh… right? Gosh, union wuld never be that evil. Er, uh… right?

The story was first covered by TV 13 news, then by the Iowa Republican, and finally by The American Spectator.

If They Even Lost Kos, Geithner is Doomed

The lefties are getting restless over the many failures of Geithner, is Obama's guy at Treasury doomed?

Certainly one cannot say that Markos Moulitsas, the fellow that invented DailyKos.com, is the sage of the Democratic Party specifically or the left generally, but he does have a certain following as well as a high profile among activists if not Party regulars and political bosses. So when Kos begins Twittering that Sec. of the Treasury Tim Geithner is failing, this is not a good sign for Obama’s guy.

On Sunday, March 23, Kos wrote a Twitter posting stating “Geithner is starting to look like Obama’s Rumsfeld.”

To employ a saying: I know Donald Rumsfeld, Tim Geithner is no Donald Rumsfeld. Still, this could mark the beginning of the end of Tim Geithner as Obama’s Sec. of Treasury. His bad start when his tax cheating was revealed, compounded with his lackluster performances in press conferences, his claims that the next press conference will have all the answers at which time he tells us the same thing he’s already said, and, finally, his mishandling of the AIG bonuses incident is a veritable cornucopia of failure. For a man that is supposedly the smartest president we’ve had since Carter his choice of Geithner is not reassuring. And when even a kool aide drinker like Kos starts dissing Obama’s guy, well, who cannot suspect that the end is near?

USNews Column: Obama’s Post-Partisan Washington Failure all Republican’s Fault

Obama's continuing failure to create that "new tone" rolls on...

Two March 19 editorials on Obama’s failure to create post-partisanship in D.C., both from lefties, can’t be farther apart from each other in their conclusions. Marc Dunkelman’s in U.S. News blames everyone but Obama for the failure to invent that mythic bipartisan Washington while Mort Kondracke’s Real Clear Politics piece lays the fault squarely at Obama’s door step.

But, the differences in the two are not just in conclusion but in the journey it took to get there. Sadly, the journey the Dunkelman piece took to get to its conclusion went through Obamamania, into the Obamagobsmacked tunnel, then it took The One turnpike, and ended up parked squarely in Obama’s southern port… if you know what I mean? In other words, it was based solely on a sycophantic love affair with the Obammessiah instead of on solid political analysis.

NYTimes Somehow Misses Obama ‘Special Olympics’ Jab

How it is that the NYT missed the one thing Obama said that had everyone in a tizzy is anyone's guess

All day Friday the newspapers, TV stations, radio, and the Internet were abuzz with Barack Obama’s failed joke about the Special Olympics Thursday night on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. In shades of John Kerry’s failed joke about the unschooled being “stuck in Iraq,” the president’s apologists said he was merely joking and didn’t mean to say anything disparaging about people with developmental challenges. Still, the incident stirred passionate discussion all day Friday. At least it did for everyone but The New York Times’s Helene Cooper. Cooper seemed not to even realize it happened if her review of the show is any indication.

One has to wonder, with the entire country talking about Obama’s Special Olympics quip, how did Cooper miss that part of the story? Why would she not even make a passing notation of the controversy the joke caused?

Thanks for Sending us a Terrorist, President Obama

We are blessed to receive your gift of terrorist Ali al-Marri, dear leader...

Dear President Obama,

We are thankful to you, our wonderful president, for showing the world that the citizens of Illinois are kinder and gentler than those evil Bushies. It has always been obvious to us that we are more open minded and far more caring than anyone but your gift to us this month proves our love for multi-culturalism. We can hold our heads up high in The Hague and in the hallowed halls of the École Nationale d’Administration at long last.

We are blessed and we thank god — not meaning to specify any particular god or gods to which you subscribe — for your beneficence with this action coming so soon during these early days of your administration of hope and change. To think that this hallowed day has arrived already!

We Illinoisans cannot thank you enough for allowing us to take charge of this poor benighted soul and al Qaieda terrorist, Ali al-Marri who, in the infinite wisdom of your administration, has been transferred to our loving embrace here in our state’s civil court system.

Another Example of Obama’s ‘Bi-Partisanship’ Lie

Rep. Rohrabacher is just the latest Republican to feel the emptiness of Obama's "bi-partisanship"

Obama is going to bring a new age of “working together” to D.C. He is the man to initiate that era of nice we’ve all been waiting for. He is captain bi-partisan… remember all that? When he finally got to the Oval Office he had a few meetings and some cocktails with a few Republicans. Everyone hailed this as the “new” Washington the promised land of post-partisanship.

Then came the omnibus spending bill. It was planned entirely by the Democrats in Congress, the Republican leadership thoroughly excluded from the planning sessions. Obama said not a word nor did he raise a finger to change the situation. It shouldn’t be surprising because the flavor was set by Obama early. When asked about working across the aisle, Obama told Republicans that he didn’t have to. “I won,” he pointedly said.

Unfortunately, the wool is still firmly swathing the eyes of the American people. So, we continue to chronicle every instance that makes the lie to Obama’s desire to “reach across the aisle” and we take inventory of the truth. This week we had yet one more example to report.

Networks Claim ‘Responsibility’ To Air Obama Speeches… But Often Skipped Bush’s

The Hollywood Reporter’s (THR.com) James Hibberd is reporting that the TV networks are “reluctantly” shuffling their on air schedules to fulfill their “responsibility” to air President Obama’s important campaign speech… er, I mean address to the nation next week. The Nets are solemnly claiming the mantle of the patriotic American fulfilling their civic duty to air presidential addresses, it appears.

It is all well and good that they should do this, of course. Keeping the nation informed is one of those long-held, self-proclaimed charges of TV news organizations, of course. But, curiously enough, that same attention to a patriotic, civic duty to air presidential speeches didn’t seem so compelling to them while Bush was in office because they often refused to air his speeches to the nation. Or, as in at least one instance, they left the speech early to go on to primetime programing.

Name That Party: Top NM Dem Sentenced, Party Affiliation Deep Sixed

Manny Aragon was one of New Mexico’s most powerful law makers and power brokers. A former Senate president, Aragon was this week convicted and given a 67 month sentence for lining his pockets and that of his co-conspiritors with millions in fraudulently billed state contracting money.

While his “iconic” status is mentioned and his long standing position as a “Senate leader” is dutifully chronicled, his status as a Democrat doesn’t seem to make the cut of a large portion of the stories on his sentencing. This is a common practice of the Old Media. The word “Democrat” never seems to escape the editor’s cut in a story about a criminal Democrat.

Don’t Fall for Making a Big Deal of Obama’s ‘Special Olympics’ Comment

Today we will see the news all over the place that President Obama was making fun of the Special Olympics during his Tonight Show visit. I can only say to the center-right blogosphere, DON’T fall for it. It’s a complete non-issue. It’s meaningless. In fact, dwell on it and you risk acting exactly like how the unhinged, uncivil left-o-sphere does on any given issue.

As ABC’s Jake Tapper reports, Obama brought up the Special Olympics when discussing his bowling score.

Towards the end of his approximately 40-minute appearance, the president talked about how he’s gotten better at bowling and has been practicing in the White House bowling alley.

He bowled a 129, the president said.

“That’s very good, Mr. President,” Leno said sarcastically.

It’s “like the Special Olympics or something,” the president said.

The knee-jerk, PC reaction is to feign outrage and howl that Obama was somehow making fun of the mentally challenged that participate in the Special Olympics. In fact, the White House itself tried to head off any carping about the comment with a quickly issued press release.

“The president made an off-hand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics,” White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton said. “He thinks the Special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives an opportunity for people with disabilities from around the world.”

Ignore this business, folks. It is a distraction that takes away from focus on the AIG bonus mess that is far, far more to our advantage.
