MEMBER DIARY

And like night follows day…

The subtext for the 2012 election has already been set.  Presto! Chango! With a dazzeling flash and mighty “Hi-Oohh, Silver”, a vote for Barry will now be counted as a vote for Trayvon and a vote for Mitt will be seen as a vote for Zimmerman.  See how easy that was?  Now, Obama’s thoroughly politicized DOJ will wait until a pivotal point in the election process to find Zimmerman “Guilty as charged!”  And voila!  There you have it.  Yet another case of racially induced homocide.  (Never mind that Zimmerman tutored black kids.  Never mind that some 40 odd black teens are gunned down in Chicago every year by other blacks.  And certainly never mind that the VAST MAJORITY of inter-racial crime is black on white.  Heard of any black on white hate crimes lately?  Neither have I.)

Yes kids, in the blink of an eyelid, our entire tradition of deliberative politics; our cherished system of checks and balances; the most rational and beautifully constructed Constitution ever written — all of it has been thrown out the window and replaced with the Alleged Rev. Al Sharpton’s lowest common denominator thinking, i.e. “We good, they bad.”  As The Rev. Jesse “I have a scheme” Jackson has reminded us repeatedly – no justice, no peace.  Wecome to the brave new world of identity groupthink.  No real choices, just a herd mentality and thug enforcement.  October’s federal show trial for Zimmerman will be a spellbinder, no doubt.

    1. No argument from me.
    2. This is happening because we as a nation let it. Charges of racism only work if you respond to them.
    3. What do you intend to do about this?

Well, I have been writing about such things for the last several years on this very RS forum.

I have taken every opportunity to make the point in casual conversations that identity politics eventually harms most those it is ostensibly designed to help.

I have written letters to the editor on the topic and made responses and replies on every other forum available.

I have been strident to the point of being called “racist” by people who had formerly pretended to be friends.

I have been active in local conservative politics – telephones, bumper stickers, etc.

And most of all, I spent most of last year arguing with “acat” and others here at RS about why we likely will not win in ’12 with another vanilla white boy like Mitt, Newt, Rick, Ron, etc. (I hope and pray I am wrong about that one.) My reasoning was that all Obama & Co. had to do was turn it into a racial election and we would be lost. With the Trayvon/Zimmerman affair, they and their stooges have done just that. They have set the subtext, printed the programs and called the tune. All we have to do now is show up. Or not.

My hope was we could nominate someone like Sarah Palin who, for many reasons, would not be nearly as suseptable to such things because:
    1. People are already tired of the race thing, but they are basically trapped into the constantly forced duality of making a “choice” and what that might “mean” about them. Most people don’t need the hassle in their lives…
    2. People would love a chance to vote for a woman…especially conservatives. Finally, finally, finally we could beat the Dems to the “historicity” prize of offering a woman at the top of the presidential ticket of a major party.
    3. People may believe a lot of things about Sarah Palin, but no one will believe she is some kind of racist – that I can guarantee…in other words, one may safely vote for SP without fear of meaningful if not gratuitous accusations of “racist”…
    4. The countercharge of being a “misogynist” for voting against Palin would be just as irrational – and just as effective…
    5. Sarah Palin is one of “us” or as near as we are ever likely to get in the W.H. – a smart, straight-talking Alaskan with a proven record of taking on hacks, crooks and establishment types in her own party…and staying clean while doing it- every so-called “ethics” charge brought against her was tossed out…
    6. The Non-Fox-Media (NFM) is frightened to death of her. They know good and well how smart she is; they know she knows where Russia is; they know she is NOT afraid of them. Even now, HBO is propagating a hit piece on her disguised as a movie and SHE ISN’T EVEN RUNNING FOR OFFICE…
    7. Barry is the emptiest of empty suits. He was the scion of globe-trotting intellectuals, raised by wealthy, educated white folks, given handshakes, pats on the head, smiles and special advantages and privileges everywhere he has gone his entire life. Indeed, from private prep schools to Harvard law to phony quasi-gubmental “jobs,” he has been treated like a hero since his youth. As editor of the Harvard Law Review he wrote not one article – unprecedented. (His staff will not release his grades – from anywhere.) But as he was annointed, he needed not do such unGodlike things as write articles for journals to which he had been crowned “ARTICULATE BLACK CHIEF.” All his positions and “accomplishments” were achieved without exerting a drop of sweat or suffering in the slightest degree.

Now, try to imagine Barry the Empty standing up onstage opposite the spitfire Sarah Palin, about as real a person as one can imagine. Someone who has worked tirelessly for family, state and country and at great personal cost, I might add. Someone who has fought “the machine” of her own party and WON. I’d give a month’s pay to see it. And the NFM would move Heaven and Earth to prevent it.

Just imagine, the gaunt, arrogant Obama, haltingly spouting his vacuous, spurious platitudes and specious bromides in that imperious, holier-than-thou tone of voice while SP stands up and speaks truth to power with her wisdom-of-the-heart common sense and practical, no-nonsense manner. Make that two month’s pay…

    Any more questions? PALIN/ROMNEY in ’12 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to you below, but characteristically forgot to push the “Reply” button after your initial response…

Sorry for the confusion and delay…

With Palin on the ticket last time there was still a 12 point gender gap. What makes you think that it is the gender of the candidate that is more important than the issues they run on? Women at least claim that they want 1. bigger government, 2. less use of military force, 3. more welfare spending, 4. more gun control, 5. affirmative action. See,
    http://www.cawp.rutgers.edu/fast_facts/voters/documents/ggapissues.pdf

The only good news there I can see in that is that a desire for more gun control likely reflects a woman’s greater fear of violent crime and this could be, and successfully has been, exploited by painting the Democrat as weak on crime. But don’t count on that from Rom, that would be too much like Willie Horton to suit him.

The women that I know that are favorable to your five issues have two things in common: Husbands who weren’t worth anything, so they had to 1) Work and raise their own family, and 2) Tend to believe in the feminist mystique. These two classes, coupled with the social/welfare woman who is not working, seem to me to be the bulk of the “gender gap”. This is NOT a gender gap. It is a liberal/conservative gap, the same as the gap in men with the same beliefs.

  • avagreen

And, look at the sources of the info.

    My opinion:
16 years ago I tired of the liberal press telling me what I thought and what people of my “gender” thought when I could find no one in my acquaintance that believed in this manner at all.

I’m older and now realize this type of “study” from people from the NE coast had little to no relevance to me or anyone west of the Mississippi, with the exception of the nutz in California (lived there for a short time),l and was more into shaping thought than reflecting it.

I can strike all those answers as wrong in that survey from MY viewpoint.

  • demsaresatanic

Calling it a “liberal/conservative gap” ignores the variable used.

  • demsaresatanic

you cite no objective data to refute the study. The objective data subsequent to 1996 demonstrates that women continue to be more inclined toward the liberal/Democrat viewpoint than men, for example, I ran across a recent poll showing that Romney would be elected if only men voted, but that Romney loses by a substantial amount when female voters are included.

You are a welcome exception to women at large, but the problem of female voting in general is a serious one for Romney or any Republican.

  • avagreen

Can’t provide info that doesn’t exist.

I remember when this study came out in 1996 and was infuriated by its conclusions, but couldn’t find any study to refute it then. And, apparently none now.

However, doesn’t make its findings true because no study before or since has been run. Means only that this issue has not been further pursued. One study does not a fact make.

  • demsaresatanic

again you provide no evidence to refute it, and the historical data establishes a gender gap consistent with the study that we do have here, notwithstanding that the results infuriate you. In my view the better approach is to accept the data for what it is and attempt to deal with it instead of arguing with the data.

having taken statistics and research design at the PhD level, I would have to thoroughly study the original research before I believed anything it says. Besides, many women are now purchasing guns and learning to use them. If a 16 y/o study is your only “fact” I’d say give it up.
