IRS stifling pro-life speech

I came across this today. It appears that the IRS is now in the business of defending (Un)Planned Parenthood. From the news story; “the IRS stated that it would not grant tax exemption until the Coalition swore to limit its “picketing” and “protesting” of Planned Parenthood.” Is this for real? Is the IRS now using the full might of the US to quash free speech?

Just out of curiosity, is the covering up of an alleged rape of a 14 year old girl by a 31 year old man what they are defending?

LiveAction.org does some great work on the pro-life front. They expose blatant violations of the law by Planned Parenthood on a regular basis. You may want to view this while you can since Google has a tendency to take their videos down on a regular basis. If the video has been removed, you can download it here.

Using government regulations to stifle “unwanted” political speech is a thriving industry these days. Campaign finance “reform” is the usual tool, but IRS rules will work just as well, or a revived “fairness doctrine.”

Hope this gets lots of attention, maybe it will wake people up to the threat to the First Amendment that is out there.

That it really isn’t all that surprising. We have become so polarized as a nation that we would allow this to happen as long as the view being muffled was different than our own.

I had a debate with my 19 year old last night about the second amendment. He’s a typical college student with some left leaning views. I asked him which right he would be willing to give up in exchange for my forfeiting my second amendment rights. Of course there were none. Unfortunately, that seems to be the attitude of a lot of people right now.
