MEMBER DIARY

The Tea Party’s Quiet, Formidable Force Will Upset The Election…Again

The Tea Party political movement is the best thing that has happened in American politics in my lifetime.  For the first time in my life, I found myself swept into a political uprising — called the Tea Party — with passionate focus and desperate determination  — an exhilarating and formidable combination of forces that can only be summoned when one is feeling fully backed into a corner.

Like most of those who would identify themselves as a Tea Party member, in my search for answers, I had to face my role in contributing to the mess our nation is in.  Primarily, I took our freedom and blessings for granted and failed to supervise and hold accountable our public servants. With a gnawing guilt in the back of my mind, I realized that before I could hold any of them accountable, I needed to go back to the basics and really study our founding documents.  And the more I studied, the madder I got.

Evil forces have always loved power.  And while most Americans were going about their lives taking advantage of the privileges and opportunities that abound in America, evil forces have been manipulating, lying, conniving and abusing our system of governance after finagling their way into public office.  The more we allowed it, the more they did it — with impunity.  Both parties.  Democrats and Republicans.  Indeed, more than once, when reading the federalist and anti-federalist papers, the reasoning our founders used to craft our founding documents mirrored my thinking today when considering how to go about restoring what we have lost and making our nation great again.

Some foolishly think the Tea Party has disappeared.  That it was nothing more than a temporary flash in the pan.  Nothing more than a way for frustrated Americans to ventilate their grievances and move on.  But they are so wrong.  The Tea Party has been awakened and recognizes what’s at stake if we fail to stay involved for the long game.  And we are still mad.  Really mad.

We’re like a silent army now.  We don’t need accolades, public recognition or pats on the back. Most of us aren’t paid for our labor.  And now we are better armed.  Millions of others have done exactly the same thing I did and enrolled themselves in crash courses to renew their understanding of the Constitution.  Millions now understand that the Constitution will be the road map back to sanity and we are not discouraged by the setbacks and seemingly slow progress we are making.

If I had to say where I think we are in terms of winning this war, I would wager that we may be about a fourth to a half of the way there.

I’m looking forward to the election next week.  It is one of the most substantive ways we measure our progress.

But no matter the outcome Tuesday, the Tea Party is here to stay. We will continue to get stronger, win more elections and go about restoring this nation.  We recognize that our efforts must expand beyond the political realm to include other spheres of influence in the culture — including the media, public schools and entertainment industry.  And we’re in it for the long haul — for our children and our children’s children’s sake.

So don’t be fooled by the pundits who think we have gone away.  We’re still here.  And we’re here to stay until we win — because America is worth it.

What a gem you are, WCP. We’re so fortunate to have you fighting with us. Can’t rec this diary enough!

    • westcoastpatriette

Wow…what a great compliment, APA Guy. I’m blushing.

  • Ausonius

If MAObama wins somehow, whether with or without corrupted voting, the Tea Party Movement must redouble its efforts, because a wave of Socialism, a wave of Repression of our Freedoms, and the burial of the Constitution are all to be expected quickly: these will happen WHEN our national bankruptcy occurs in a Second MAObama Term. Capitalism and THE RICH will be blamed, of course, along with low taxation and “obstructionism” by Republicans.

The War On Religion via BIG BRObamaCare and in other aspects will increase. The War On The Military will increase in vehemence, and anything else to diminish America will be done, on the path to creating AmeriFrance.

We need the Tea Party Movement even WITH a Romney win, to prevent RINO’S from “compromising” a Romney win into a de facto victory for the Dems.

  • Melody Warbington

You’re so right, wcp. I know what the dedicated, unpaid volunteers in my tea party are doing and realize that others across the country are doing the same. We are determined to win.

    • westcoastpatriette

Yup, Melody. And I didn’t want to get too religious in my post, but, I speak with such confidence because of my trust in God and his principles. Many in the Tea Party are strong believers and know that we can “overcome evil with good.”

I live in a swing state and have been polled twice. I hang up each time — no way I’m going to let the MSM use me like a tool to float out rigged numbers. Most of my Tea Party friends do the same thing. I bet this is account for at least a couple points in the polls. Maybe as much as 5%. The number of Romney yard signs in my hometown are twice what McCain had in 2008, and Obama is halved. We are going to win this thing. Fast and Furious. Benghazi. Exploding the deficit. Cutting and running from Iraq and Afghanistan. There’s no way America is going to let Obozo get away with that all on Tuesday night. The champagne is already chilling in my fridge.

    Romney/Ryan 2012!

    • Viet71

Scientists know now there is both dark matter and dark energy in the universe — powerful actors that can’t be observed directly.

Same with the Tea Party. Which is the main reason I’m skeptical of the polls this go round.

      • tetrisd85

Skepticism is weak. I’ve outright concluded that they are wrong. They must be wrong. There is no way America would ever in a million years elect Obummer for a second term. It’s simply unfathomable to me. Once you unskew the polls it’s pretty apparent that Romney is going to win. The only question is how big the landslide is.

        • Viet71

          I believe in understatement.

          I also believe we’ll learn you’re correct come 11/7/2012.

          • http://www.TerriersOfTheRight.blogspot.com Flagstaff

I think it will be drug out long past 11/7 unless we can win by a big enough margin they simply accept the fact that they’re losers.

      • norris

Disregard the polls , count the people at the rallies . Romney draws 30,000 the president draws less than 3,000 . These people will vote.

        • Viet71

          10 to 1

          Let’s go!

        • APA Guy

          BINGO! 555s to infinity, norris.

        • APA Guy

One thing more: I am HUGELY skeptical that Obama will turn his people out on Election Day. I think this is why they are running like scared mice to college campuses and begging them to vote. They know their base hasn’t liked Obama since Obamacare because it had no public option/single payer – and they know that Tea Party activists and the rest of the disgusted voting population is chomping at the bit to vote this guy out of office.

The election won’t be close in the end…bank it.

          • Ausonius

My son just voted early in Cleveland: the wait was 90 minutes, and one group of MAObama voters did indeed turn out. Across the street from the polls was an Afro-American church offering free food to voters and hundreds were in both lines. Perhaps without the free food the line and (putatively pro-BIG BRObama) turn-out would have been smaller.

To be sure, two women behind my son, after standing in the voting line for an hour, decided to go across the street to see if you could eat without showing your “I Voted Today!” sticker. Here one sees how the location of a polling station was affected by something unexpected: free food at a church.

I do indeed hope your skepticism becomes the real result on Tuesday. I suspect Romney will win, but unexpected factors can never be counted out.

  • rosenstern

I think you have it exactly right WCP – the “consultant class” in both political parties and the media just cannot fathom the determination of the Tea Party, and so they under-estimate us time and again. The results on Tuesday will shock them to the core – and we’re just getting started!

    • westcoastpatriette

Amen, rosenstern. If I have to work ’til the day I die to accomplish the restoration of America, so be it!

      • Ausonius

You ‘n’ me both, Li’l Sister! We may be looking at a 40-year wandering in the wilderness to cleanse away the generations that elected BIG BRObama, or we may be looking at a Conservative Renaissance modifying and replacing the welfare state and rebuilding our defenses, our outer space program, and inspiring a new generation of Edisons, Wrights, Madisons and Monroes to create the supersonic America which we know is in our DNA, rather than the enervated, pusillanimous AmeriFrance envisioned by MAObama and Company.

        • westcoastpatriette

Well said, Ausonius!!! Give me liberty, or give me death!

  • chbroussard

Glad to add my star to this diary. We don’t hold big Tea Party rallies anymore, mainly because we don’t have to. The rallies served their purpose in showing people that they were not alone in their thoughts about what was happening to our country. We learned there were thousands and thousands that felt the same. We have now moved on to working at local, state, and federal levels to support like-minded candidates. Another thing I have found is that my three grown children, all conservative, are not shy about expressing their conservative principles to their friends and backing up their arguments with actual facts. It’s going to take more time and more work, but the Tea Party is alive and well and will continue growing in numbers. You are so right…America is worth it.

  • RealQuiet

Flat out beautiful diary wcp. Nicely done.

  • runner12

WCP, what an amazing, uplifting diary. If I could recc it 100 times I would. It is hands down one of the best diaries I have read at RS. It is exactly the kind of mentality we need in our country right now.

I can relate as it was the Tea Party that woke me up, too. For once, I saw people who were just like me speaking out. They were not partisan shills, just normal, common-sense Conservative Americans. We will vote in droves on Tuesday and put Romney/ Ryan in the WH with God’s help.

  • Viet71

WCP, you are the soul of Red State.

  • GremlinJones

I just wish we were voting for someone we believe in, rather than the lesser of two evils.

    • Bill S

Got a mouse in your pocket?

      • APA Guy

Surely you mean gerbil, don’t you Bill :)

    • APA Guy

      Oh lookie…more “concern”…puke.

  • jamesmpratt

    Ditto!

  • rbdwiggins

Only the foolish would dare to underestimate the enormous electoral power of a highly motivated and fully operational Tea Party.

I think you have spoken for a lot of us.
