The Fat Lady Sang, It’s Over Now…Welcome to the White House, President Romney

When I worked in mental health, a colleague of mine was getting his doctorate in psychology and needed some guinea pigs to practice evaluating the psychological profiles of people using various tests that were in vogue at the time, so I agreed to help him out.  After the tests were completed, I met with him so he could go over the results with me.  They were eerily accurate in pinpointing certain aspects of my character and conduct.

It was fascinating just how accurate the profile was and I don’t recall being able to protest any of it.  But there was one area that I have never forgotten because I saw it as a potential weakness that could cause me problems if I did not work to change it a little.

On a scale from one to ten, one of the tests measured the strength of certain personality traits — with one being the weakest and ten being the strongest.  When it came to measuring my attention to detail, I got a one.  The colleague explained to me that it indicated that I was a visionary who was preoccupied with looking ahead at the bigger picture and did not want to be bothered with the details.  As a practical example of how this impacted my life, he told me I probably found myself frequently stubbing my toe or banging my knee on something because I was so focused on the future and getting there that I did not pay attention to my immediate circumstances.

Ouch!  No wonder I have so many bruises all the time.

I said all that to say, I hate statistics.  The endless scrutiny and arguing over the minutia and accuracy of the polls leading up to elections is so boring to me and –especially in this election — I was barely able to pay attention enough to follow what everyone was arguing about.

The plus side of my inability to pay attention to details is that I am intuitive and able to clearly see the way forward or trends that are coming that few others see or feel certain about.

I’m sure you know where I’m going with this diary by now.  Setting aside the endless questionable polls and the expert’s vaunted opinions of how the election will turn out today, it is obvious to me that we will have a new President in the White House next year named Mitt Romney.  Just call it a hunch.  A strong hunch.  And get ready to do the happy dance.

Curious – did you see Obama winning in 2008?

    • westcoastpatriette

Yeah, I did. And it was literally nauseating to me…I was physically ill for three days after the election because it was easy for me to see what a useless con man he was.

      • GremlinJones

Well, hope you are right again!

Yep…no question Obama was going to win. It is that same observation of voter enthusiasm that says he is going to get trounced today.

Romney will win with 309 electoral votes. http://instagr.am/p/RqlwXzDDuB/

As soon as McLame was nominated in 2008, it was obvious that Republicans had made a huge mistake, especially when H. R. Clinton tanked. There was no way that America would vote for the jowly grandpa over the slam-dunkin’ Kool dude.

If America has come to its senses, we will see today whether it will refuse to admit what its senses are detecting. I also have a feeling that Romney will win. The swing from the mild socialism of Carter and the Dems to Reagan in 1980 showed that America back then could focus and think clearly about how to solve national problems.

With our Attention Deficit Society increasingly influenced by the League of Extraordinarily Illogical Gentlemen and Gentlewomen, there is no guarantee against a second term for BIG BRObama.

If we lose, I will be publishing an essay about our next step. If we win, I will be publishing a quite different essay about our next step.

I am thinking more about the latter than the former.

2008 was a Democratic year. The only person who could’ve cost the Dems the election was Edwards and his libido. If Hillary had won the primaries, she would be president right now. McCain was a sacrificial lamb. I felt bad for McCain because Bush screwed him in 2000 (via things like ugly rumors about McCain fathering a biracial child out of wedlock) and then screwed him in 2008 by presiding over an economic meltdown. A McCain presidency starting in 2000 would’ve led to a different 2008.

McCain sunk himself by being a spineless idiot. However would have been infinitely better than obama obviously.

        • crimsonchampion

McCain was dealt a tough hand. 2008 was so bad that Bush (the sitting president) couldn’t/didn’t even attend his own party’s national convention. There wasn’t much that McCain could do except nominate a “not ready for prime time” Alaska governor in a desperate attempt to woo bitter Hillary voters.

dont disagree but McCain hardly even tried and didn’t go after obama.

Which may have been instrumental in delivering so many Democrat votes today to Romney… think about it…

I absolutely agree with your hunch, I have the same instinct. I think we are about to see history take place, and I think we are about to save our country from ruin. Let’s hope we are both right.

Wow, Westcoast, your diary explains so much! All those bruises, my husband constantly questioning me on how I can miss the crumbs on the counter and the stuff on the floor. I’m a visionary! This will be my excuse from now on. I kind of just assumed I had a short attention span. :) I have the same hunch you have, though, and have for a couple of weeks now. It solidified when I, and about 10,000 other patriots, had the privilege of seeing Romney/Ryan at Red Rocks here in Colorado. I pray (literally) that we are both correct and have been practicing the happy dance around the house for a couple days now!

    • westcoastpatriette

ROFL, recentlyenlightened. We’re all visionaries now.

  • redmymind

Same-o, same-o, friend! Just been real busy with Church stuff. Hence my thin presence here at RS! It’s really wonderful to be back though! I just have a great feeling about today!!! Hope you and the family are doing well!

        • westcoastpatriette

All is well here. I have a great feeling about today, too. Kinda like that peace that passes understanding. :) )
