MEMBER DIARY

For We Wrestle Not Against Flesh and Blood…

As we continue on in the war to save America, it is time for the Christians to regroup and keep in mind what the Bible teaches us about who and what is behind the warfare we are engaged in.

Many have been lulled into a stupor and have forgotten that Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection was not the end of the war…just a huge and crucial victory for mankind enabling us to assist God in His future and final ultimate victory of good over evil.

Do you ever feel like we are just whacking at the leaves, branches and stubble but are never getting to the root of the problems in our nation? In a sense, this is true. This diary is a reminder to “be strong in the Lord and the power of His might,” and to “put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil,” because…

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:10-12

Don’t be afraid to call a spade a spade…Satan is still alive and at work in this world and that is the only explanation for the horror that occurred in Connecticut on Friday. Yes, he used a human vessel to accomplish his diabolical purposes, but he was the prime culprit behind the inexplicable evil that transpired.

We spend too much time arguing with each other over the root of the problems in our nation and not enough time remembering the scriptures I just quoted.

Stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might — through much prayer and sometimes fasting, too. Know that “the faithful, fervent prayers of righteous men and women avails much.” And remember that the love of God is more powerful than the evil of Satan. Satan was completely defeated at the cross. Focus on becoming like Christ. Don’t return evil for evil, but overcome evil with good. And remember that Jesus is coming back again and we will win the final battle against Satan — with Jesus leading us triumphantly in battle.

I know it sounds wimpy sometimes, but love is the most powerful force in the universe. Use it to disarm as many enemies as possible in the battles ahead. Pray for wisdom and unity in the body of Christ. Be blessed, all my brothers and sisters. We are all in God’s army. Stay close to Him and He will lead us to ultimate victory.

Very well said. Christians have something special, something that is often overlooked. We know how the story ends. God wins. And He will reign as Lord, God and King forever and ever. That’s comforting in these troubling times.

    “Focus on becoming like Christ.”

The finest counsel in the world! A suffering Jesus showed us in His many earthly trials what crushing temptations we are capable of overcoming even in the flesh. Yet there is precious little evidence around that humankind breaks much of a sweat even trying to follow those examples.

Humanity’s real passion seems to be our desire to have things our way instead of God’s way, which has led to thousands of years of horrific consequences. Believers know the
proper path, yet weak and headstrong, we still fail to take it time and time again to our sorrow. What does that say about the depth of our commitment to our faith? No wonder the advice stands to pray always – we need the strength. And the Imitation of Christ provides it.

So very true, fightnright. It seems at times that Satan is winning the battle as he has succeeded at keeping so many Christians carnal and/or babes in Christ and the whole body has suffered much as a result. In the meantime, if we keep our focus on Christ, He is faithful to bring us through every trial stronger than we were before and work it all together for good because He is a good and loving God.

one more thing wcp… the trials of a soul when it heeds not the higher consciousness (that conduit illuminated by Christ which thus keeps Him ‘always with us’ here on this plane), but only to that part of mind which relates us to the physical environment. I’m amazed how stubbornly I cling to the concept in my own trials that if I can twist things the way I think might make me ‘happy’ and fulfill my desires, things will turn out okay. In another thread I mentioned that only God can bring an End to Darkness, why can’t we accept that His will alone can bring the End of Sorrow? =(

It’s a battle every day, so wise of you to remind us of our prayer life. Jesus says ‘knock and it will be opened’, but you have to work hard at raising that window every day. You cannot get from here to There via cognitive mind alone (which perhaps atheists don’t take into account), but He can reach us from There to here if we desire to be united with God as much as we desire ~anything~ else. And a blessed Christmas to you and yours!
