A Personal Story - Unplanned Pregnancy

I Understand the Palin Situation

I can’t recall a time when I wasn’t really pro-life. During high school & college in the 1980’s, when every “teen” movie HAD to have some pro-abortion message, I knew that life was the right choice for the baby.

My wife became pregnant with our son before we were married. That was not a good choice on our part. We were engaged, & then married. We have been blessed with a very healthy, strong, intelligent son. Not everything was a bed of roses, we have had our struggles. I’d say we’ve had more struggling years, money & other things, than “lesser” struggling years. I would not change a thing, however, because I’d not want our son to be any different.

A couple of years ago we found out that his now fiance was pregnant. Of course, we had “the talk” several times - however, they chose to have a baby. Choosing life was our tact, though there were some issues with the parents of the girl. I can understand that, & with time & patience things worked out. We now have a very healthy, intelligent, & strong grandson who just turned 1 year old. Both families (though hers are Democrats) are strong & we are helping them through this time. She is extremely intelligent & a good academic student who finished in the top 20% of her class. My son was not the greatest student, however he has found a calling working with dogs & it looking to further education.

I would offer this is the better situation for the child, & everyone involved. I know people who have had abortions, decisions they regret. We have had tough times & will have struggles in the future, however we will never have to wonder “what if” the child had been born. Our child & grandchild will have the opportunity to achive, fail, & excel.

I understand what the Palin family is experiencing & they are in our prayers. I am heartened that they have made the choice of life, & am sure they understand they’ve made the right choice. Bristol Palin’s child & Sarah’s grandchild will have the opportunity of life. Where there is life, there exists infinite possiblity

for the testimony, Whitehorse.

You’ve just strengthened the conversative idea that a new life is always a gift, and will never be a punishment. It’s a gift as it represents the future of America. Protecting life of the unborn and babies is the grandest principle of conservatism. It’s enlightening, invigorating and heartwarming.

Transgressing on the issue:

How can the Dems “fear global warming that will kill all people” while cannot “protect the life of the unborn”?
It seems to me that the former is just mundane love of “this earth” alone, and doesn’t really include the human beings that live on it.

Nice Testomonial

But isn’t the real question: What does it matter ? This has no effect on the election or Palins job as VP.

You're new here, I see, and may not realize

that we relate to one another as a community, not just on political matters, but on matters of simple humanity as well.

Knowing how others have handled difficult situations can be beneficial to those who may face similar ones. Besides, it’s quite lovely to get to know all the different members here and to get an insight into what has shaped their opinions.

Thanks for that whitehorse, I have a different story

My wife and I could never conceive and we have been struggling for several years for an adoption. Our family members, sisters on the other hand have had abortions.

These were nieces and nephews we will never know and children we offered to raise. In our entire family now, both sides, there is only two grown up children, and no little ones.

I envy you and your family.

I’m not asking the question of whitehorse but a question of the whole business altogether. Who cares what a 17 year old girl does ? Dont we all make mistakes ? I have a sister in law who went through the same thing and I would never question her parenting because of it. What needs to be said is how she is going to do as VP

I agree wholeheartedly, Ballard. But now that

it’s out there, we all have to deal with it whether we like it or not, and we don’t like it. By that I mean that we don’t like seeing a teenaged girl attacked so viciously by people whose morals and integrity don’t usually rise to the level of the average felon.

What’s useful here is that so many people respond with respect for the Palin’s family strength and with disgust at the media and the lefties for how they are treating this.

Kyle, I wholeheartedly endorse

adoption.

For us, international adoption was the answer. It also obviates some problems you might never think of.

If people overwhelm the discussion with actual positions that the candidates have and continue to ignore the personal life the media will let it go - most of the decent reporters and talk shows have already and refused to take this seriously besides saying the facts - If you constantly but heads with Olberman and dailykos you keep the story alive
