Time to take stock

What the hell is going on ? President Obama, Director Summers and Treasury secretary Geithner,

In one years time the agenda you present is non productive, irrational and places the country further into debt.

1. The value of the dollar. Is your goal to weaken the dollar to pay off debt or a race to the bottom of currency devaluation before your neighbor devalues ? History negates the latter option.

2. Oil is $79 a barrel and gasoline is $3 a gallon.. We freed Iraq we are in a recession. Policy will not let us drill on our own land. Is your goal to force us to go GREEN through higher expenses.? Not a good idea for U.S. job creation.

3. The Democratic controlled congress continues to spend. The centralized economy approach has 300 years of history as being inefficient.  Are you afraid to let the American entrepreneur( with a level playing field ) compete.?

The policies you promote are job killers. Are you purposely trying to bring this nation into a depression with the idea that it would be easier to pass a socialist agenda.?

Move to the center you are out of control. People are becoming more distrustful of the government day by day.  We are a nation of laws let all Americans abide by them. Our voice is heard loudest on election day.

Everybody is looking towards government to put forth their agenda not through merit but by FORCE crafted in legislation. Americans are upset because we have lost the representation that was present when government was closer to home and rational. The federal government has literally corrupted our ability to forge our life without apprehension. This is accomplished by the constant drip of new regulation, restrictions and fear. Legislation is accompanied by slogans such as for your safety, do it for the children or the coming apocalypse of global warming.

The economy would be better off if control was relaxed from Washington.

A brief historical comment on the national debt.

A pamphleteer named Brutus in the 18th century warned against a centralized government’s power to borrow money.” borrow money on the credit of the United States . The Congress may mortgage any or all of the revenues of the union and may borrow of foreign nations a principle sum, the interest of which will be equal to the annual revenues the country. By this means, they may create a national debt so large as to exceed the ability of the country ever to sink. I can scarcely contemplate a greater calamity that could befall this country than to be loaded with a debt exceeding their ability to discharge. If this be a just remark, it is unwise and improvident to vest in the general government a power to borrow at discretion, without any limitation or restriction.”

Lets get down to real work.

Distrust plagues the economy. The federal government’s quest for control hampers the ability of knowledgeable people to move the economy forward. Individuals cannot plan when government has fostered an environment with autocratic laws and inconsistent rules. Large companies profit from this centralized approach with out true competition. The CEO’s of Wal-mart and GE have both backed the latest junk science coming out of Washington (current Heath care and Energy bills). They run to government and back every centralized plan being introduced without the spine to exercise commonsense and put the country first. Thankfully, so far small business is the largest employer of workers in the country.

If you need to pay Washington to open up a forieign economy then you don’t have free trade. Washington has either become a shill for special interests, drunk on power or completely out of touch with their constituency. If any of these scenarios are true the government has become ineffective and hazardous to individual rights as described in our founding documents.

This centralized approach of “one fits all” mandate is the crux of the problem. So I have to ask the American people what is the most amiable path to take. What offers the most freedom to the individual?. What system would be superior at keeping government in check?. The concentration of power has always led to atrocity even if it is congress instead of a dictator. Let us as Americans live up to our heritage and take the pressure off Washington. Let us alleviate the burden of narrow special interest so they can re-acquaint themselves on powers delegated to the federal government in the constitution.

Believe me Mr. President and Congress we can handle our own lives without the media induced fear or the top down management you exert. It is clear that power must revert back to state and local control. Americans can see that Washington is incompetent and meddlesome when it comes to the individual. This is where the modern political authoritarian must step back and check their premise as to their logic to force a free man or women that governments path is superior to their own. It is quite easy, constrain governments ambition to micro manage people and begin to look towards individual freedom as the goal, it is then our country will flourish again.

Due to the great debate taking place nationwide by reason of such a gargantuan divide maybe we should do nothing until we have a good old commonsense American debate.

A total disrespect of the American people

We are told that congress will push through health care regardless of the public outcry over further debt passed on to our children. My god the president and congress act as though health care is a inalienable right. Does the congress along with the president fantasize that this is the Emancipation Proclamation number two. The difference is the defense of a Natural Right as opposed to a government produced entitlement. I would suggest congress and the president get out of fantasy land.

Mr President you are not Abraham Lincoln with a mandate. He worked to led the country to a higher calling based on individual freedom your crowd works to divide it for special interests and governmental control. He fought for natural rights you fight for the expansion of the welfare state enslaving all. Save your reputation and move to the center leave the socialist agenda it has never worked for long. You believe your mark in history will be “the man who brought health care to all” I would predict that you and the congressional members that support this travesty will be thrown out of office next election. History will say ” the day free Americans finally saw the enemy and threw out the seeds of socialism and that was the turning point to recapture our country and maintained our freedom”.

It’s really is up to you guy’s what you advocate works well in the cellars of Harvard or Washington. Historically centralized planning has never worked over time and has never worked for men who respect freedom and the individual. As free men and women we know that is not rational legislation. You see we would actually like to be left alone.

So Mr. president don’t over estimate your own importance. Recognize when you are wrong and become a great American president ( like Lincoln ) who freed the people not enslaved them with large governmental bureaucracy.

The economy

Today I watched the president of the United States take responsibility for the measures enacted last year that saved the economy. It was even backed up with Fed chairman Ben Bernanke commenting “the recession may have ended”. By the way I respect the Fed chairman and cannot begrudge the spin doctors partisan goal to structure the administrations message.

Something happened this past weekend that I think scared this administration. It was the American people. The spin doctors said get out there we have a problem !!!. So the President goes in front of spin doctor prescribed media events ( continuing through the weekend in friendly territory ). The unions applaud and show he is so enlightened that we should just follow him without question.

Obama administration you are the ones that need to wake up.

Move to the center you are out of control as Clinton probably told you in New York. Just be honest because people are becoming more distrustful of the Government. We are a nation of laws let all Americans abide by them. Our voice is heard loudest on election day.

Anyway enough of the fearful little media world on both sides.

The economy would be better off if control was relaxed from Washington.

Now they include race as the problem on tonight’s news. My god it has only been 300 years of law and history that dispel central planned economies. We are a free people not to be subjugated by large intrusive government. That is what the spin doctors in the White house do not understand,

Begin Recall Measures

“It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from falling into error.”– Robert H. Jackson

We are a Republic; we elect members of congress who in turn represent us in Washington . We are not a democracy open to majority rule. When government chooses to directly ignore the intent of the American people, discussion needs to take place with an option to check their power. The U.S. Constitution does not provide or authorize the recall of United States officers (senators and representatives of congress). Although it was considered, no provisions were made for such action. Recall in the Articles of Confederation was replaced with rotation in office during the convention in 1787. I see where the Supreme Court has nullified the argument under the 10th amendment clause although not commenting directly. The court interpretation asserts individual states never had the original sovereignty to unilaterally change the terms and conditions of service of federal officials agreed to and established in the Constitution. My understanding of the intent on the dispersion of power is that the constitution derives its authority from the states and the states from the people. This is the basis of our republican form of government and to be respected through fair elections and the RULE OF LAW.

It seems as though the agenda in Washington has not been in the best interest of the American people for the last 20 years. Washington has either become a shill for special interests, drunk on power or completely out of touch with their constituency. If any of these scenarios are true the government has become ineffective and hazardous to individual rights as described in our founding documents.

So it appears from various news services congress is going to ram this legislation down the American peoples throat. The same people congress works for. If this is truly the case we should look at constitutionally based alternatives. Options that hold public officials closer to the responsibility their office demands while promoting freedom not enslavement. Good legislation does not require force in most cases because it is not narrow in focus. I would suggest the states look into recall measures and begin the lawful process to incorporate these measures in their respective state constitutions. A super majority of the states population would be needed due to the importance of such procedures.

If commonsense were present this would not be necessary. Only when the Federal government becomes so detached does it becomes our responsibility and right to restrict their power.

Thomas Jefferson warned George Washington in 1791 if the federal government was allowed to overstep its bounds with regards to the States “to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible to any definition.” Keep government limited and close to home. That will maintain freedom.”

Thomas Jefferson” free government is founded in jealousy not in confidence, it is jealousy and not confidence which prescribes limited constitutions, to bind those we are obliged to trust with power…our constitution has accordingly fixed the limits to which, and no further, our confidence may go. In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution.”

What domineering Washington personalities do not understand is for the most part the American people want to be left alone. Therefore your side shows don’t resonate. That is why you have to be restricted. Three hundred years ago people much more learned than you crafted this form of government to protect individual freedom.

Come about and fly straight

Which philosophy requires greater force liberal or conservative?. The original concept of liberalism was closer to the Whig party or libertarian view concerning the Individuals relationship with government. The modern characterization of liberal is to signify more of a centralized approach regarding the individual with concepts such as fairness or equity in human life. From an historical sense once government applies its power towards enforcing (rights equity in life) and not (inalienable rights) as described in the constitution we get off track.

We have a constitution that protects the minority from the majority through the rule of law. The rule of law has been distorted over time by government mandates passed without constitutional vetting as to the validity of such rules. The enactment of laws to correct monetary disparity in society can have the effect of killing off a desire for most people to improve there position based on individual initiative and rise in society. Current welfare and affirmative action policy have such an effect in two ways.

1. The young man or women that relies on government handout may never progress past the addiction of the welfare state.

2. It kills the ambition of the young fearing their hard work may be usurped by a panel that values racial or gender diversity over competence.

It is this injustice that divides a society having the effect of excepting irrationality and favoritism as the standard. This is not a democrat or republican phenomenon this has been going on for decades. The current administration and congress have become so out of touch with mainstream America that they are shocked over the outrage nationwide to recent and pending legislation. The politician with the help of the media had thought that after fifty years of T.V.the population (with only the last thirty years being more a propaganda machine than entertainment) was dumbed down enough to push this centralized approach down the American peoples throat.

The mistake we make as a society is to look towards the federal government to satisfy our perception of equality (unless natural rights are denied). Unless we get back to a level playing field we risk depression and socialism. The entrepreneurs can not work against administrative sanctions protecting favored industries or the arbitrary dictates of large government.

Cash For Clunkers

The cash for clunkers program is a wild eyed success, government did something right. I know the czars are from the great schools where these decisions must take five PHD’s and twenty years of research to complete. Then the unveiling of a brilliant nationwide strategy. One thing I don’t understand or hear about in the media or from the central planners in Washington is that the program was based on TAX CUTS. I guess that does not go with the CAPITALISM HAS FAILED CROWD.

In Check

The left are threatening to pass health care legislation in pieces (Wall Street Journal 8/20/09 New RX Health Plan: Split Bill). The strategy seems to use various parliamentary procedures to pass the health care agenda. One is reconciliation (simple majority needed) for other sections of the bill and filibuster proof majority (60 votes needed). As to what procedure congress would use for passage on the public option or exchanges is still unclear. It seems to me that congress is deliberately going to try and force a public plan without regard to the desires of the majority of free men and women in this country. There is only a mere 300 years of history including our own sacred documents that warn us against large intrusive government.

We are a Republic; we elect members of congress who in turn represent us in Washington . We are not a democracy open to majority rule. When government chooses to directly ignore the intent of the American people, discussion needs to take place with an option to check their power. Frederic Bastiat ”The state is the great fiction by which everybody tries to live at the expense of everybody else. The doctrine that places the moving force of Society in the legislators and Government results in imposing crushing responsibilities on them in matters where they ought to have none. If there is suffering, the fault is the Government’s; if there is poverty, the fault is the Government’s - Is it not the general and sole motor of society? If the motor is not good, it must be discarded and replaced by another.

Thomas Jefferson warned George Washington in 1791 if the federal government was allowed to overstep its bounds with regards to the States “to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible to any definition.” Keep government limited and close to home. The 2010 Orchestration

This following will come as no surprise to many. The more I see the Left hang on to a government option I can’t help but think their true agenda is not health care but dependency on government. Therefore this is not a democrat verses republican argument but socialism verses freedom. There are many great (free market) plans out there. Most are executable with the relaxation of government mandates and the ability to cross sell insurance beyond state lines, in other words true competition. I challenge the government to back away. Not favor the large insurance companies over small entrepreneurs and let a level playing field finally take place. The attention should be directed to how we as law abiding people wrestle these powers away from an entrenched federal government within the RULE OF LAW
The government forgot we like to be in charge of our own lives and destiny.
I know as Americans we can take responsibility for our own health careand should for the following reasons.
1. Not to burden following generations with cost and bureaucracy.
.
2. To keep the federal government from obtaining more control over our lives and freedoms.

3. Lastly we are sovereign individuals with inalienable rights and what this government is trying to do is deceptive and wrong.

The details of this plan at this point are inconsequential. It is the basic philosophy surrounding this plan that is so repugnant and must be discarded.

Finally, the left has come out of the shadows and shown their colors. In their mind along with the present administration the time is ripe to force their principles on the population (for their own good). It is interesting that their standards don’t spread freedom yet expand authority and lack choice. So I would ask congress to commit occupational suicide. Craft laws that limit your and subsequent legislators power. Bring into existence legislation that performs in the transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%”>best interest of the Republic instead on the narrow interests. Enact laws that return power to the local level where it is best checked. You may no longer have a job but you will have made history. You will have given the country back to its rightful owners, the American people.

If I may put a few thoughts forward that people may find worthwhile in the quest to reduce the intrusiveness of large centralized government

1. States should look into adopting laws that can recall (with a super majority) members of congress that refuse to maintain the spirit of their constituencies principles. I do not believe this leads away from a republican form of government but checks power.

George Washingtonin 1791 if the federal government was allowed to overstep its bounds with regards to the States “to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible to any definition.” Keep government limited and close to home. That will maintain freedom.
2. A complete halt to new government hiring and spending on new programs without equal budgetary offsets.

3. In all aspects congress must live by the very laws they create. You are public servants.

James Madison wrote. “The <house of representatives can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as the great mass of society. This (circumstance) has always been deemed one of the strongest bonds by which human policy can connect the rulers and the people together. It creates between them that communion of interest, and sympathy of sentiments, of which few governments have furnished examples; but without which every government degenerates into tyranny”.

4. A restriction of all relatives or married partners benefiting in any law being enacted by members. This keeps the axiom of “In the countries best interest “vigilant.

5. Free and open (public airway sponsored) televised debates. So a progression of ideas can be examined and deliberated among the citizenry.

6. Everybody that works in the United States pays a flat tax. All will have a stake in the size and intrusiveness of government while cutting out congressional shenanigans through special tax laws.

7. All legislation in front of congress should be transparent and visible (not accessible two hours before the vote). Prohibit the use of non vetted attachments.

“There is no greater tyranny than that which is perpetrated under the shield of the law and in the name of justice”Charles de Montesquieu

Remember as Americans we know how to roll up our sleeves, work as a country and accomplish the goals we choose. It is our history and our future. There is only one component we need as a people to accomplish this. It is simple common sense not the irrationality that spews from and the so called (Members of congress should take an honest hard look and ask two questions.1. Is your legislation helpful towards a free capitalist society?<2. Are you even equipped to handle such a task?
If people realize that this is the beginning and not the end we will start to bring common sense back to our country. Organize for 2010 and as the process starts, our belief that we as Americans can achieve anything will take hold. This is and will be our history as we have exhibited in the past.

Cap and Trade

Watch out for the end run on cap and trade. They are moving ahead as all the attention is on health care. If passed this system will be the new piggy bank for out of control government spending. The out of thin air market based on junk science will create the next financial bubble over time.

CATO on power “Only the checks put upon magistrates make nations free; and only the want of such checks makes them slaves. They are free, where their magistrates are confined within certain bounds set them by the people … And they are slaves, where the magistrates choose their own rules, and follow their lust and humours; than which a more dreadful curse can befall no people … and therefore most nations in the world are undone, and those nations only who bridle their governors do not wear chains”.

Small local government is easily checked.

Let me be very clear

I constantly hear the mantra ” let me be very clear”  Well I am not clear with the true aim of this administration. We are told the main reason for health care overhaul is the expense. The private sector if allowed to truly work has the best chance of accomplishing the goal. I believe the real agenda is larger government and more centralized control.

What we don’t hear is what sacrifice is the left willing to make.

1. Tort reform no mention today in New Hampshire. Where is their contribution to rein in this concealed cost.

2. Where is congressional accountability. Where is their obedience to their own legislation.

3. The country will not heal economically until we know the rules. The only problem is when narrow interests ( both governmental and privately ) are involved sanity is not present.

The real lesson here is the Federal government has no business in health care ( except the destitute and that for the most part is handled by family and charities.) or many other area’s of a free individuals personal life.

The real argument is large government verses small or local government. That is what Washington is truly afraid of. There is 3000 years of history that points in only one direction and it is the latter ( small and local government is checked best )

So far the statement ” let me be clear ” is nothing but muddled water.

relax

I am elated to see fellow country men and women invoke their belief in our great constitution. The sleeping giant or the great silent majority has finally awoken after 80 years of federal government expansion into the lives of a free people.

( Outside of the rhetoric ) I would ask all Americans to remember we are the model and shinning light of freedom worldwide therefor we share a responsibility. That responsibility (without the help of the mainstream media) is cool heads and a unencumbered honest vote that will happen in 2010. This means a constant outreach to fellow Americans to organize. Personally I don’t think we have had a government that works in the best interests of our country for quite awhile. What the left does not understand is their argument for more control is being fully rejected by mainstream America. Americans do not want or need further federal government expansion. I would like to complete this by saying a true free capitalist solution can be done fast and effectively. The American people instinctively know this is control not health care. If Washington really wanted health care reform they would back off and let the free enterprise system do it freely without the narrow corporate lobbyist influence.

The fundamental basis of the constitution is to delineate the power of government. The constitution derives it’s authority by the very process that brought the document into existence (ratification by the states) through the consent of the people of the United States

Below are recommendations that may help congress restore some discipline.

1. A complete halt to new government hiring and spending on new programs.

2. In all aspects congress must live by the very laws they create. You are public servants.

James Madison wrote. “The house of representatives can make no law which will not have its full operation on themselves and their friends, as well as the great mass of society. This (circumstance) has always been deemed one of the strongest bonds by which human policy can connect the rulers and the people together. It creates between them that communion of interest, and sympathy of sentiments, of which few governments have furnished examples; but without which every government degenerates into tyranny”.

3. A restriction of all relatives or married partners benefiting in any law being enacted by members. This keeps the axiom of “In the countries best interest “vigilant.

4. Free and open (public airway sponsored) televised debates. So a progression of ideas can be examined and deliberated among the citizenry.

5. Everybody that works in the United States pays a flat tax. All will have a stake in the size and intrusiveness of government while cutting out congressional shenanigans through special tax laws.

“There is no greater tyranny than that which is perpetrated under the shield of the law and in the name of justice” Charles de Montesquieu

Regardless of party I am sure we can all agree on the following.

There is nothing to be afraid of if our ideals are geared towards independence, personal freedom and laws that are common to all and not the few. This is the greatest time of our country I am proud to be a fellow American.

The Left have shown their colors.

The president along with the democratic leadership have put their agenda back two hundred years with their latest attempt at socialism. The two big legislative disasters that awoke the American silent majority are the socialists crown jewels regarding cap and trade and the takeover of health care. All the stars were aligned for the Lefts final assault on a free society. There is a financial disaster, bureaucracies in place to enact unconstitutional laws and the media enlisted to denounce anyone who questioned governmental authority.

The result is the outright rejection of this putrid socialist philosophy. The left have shown there colors revealing their policy of dominating peoples lives. They should not be let off the hook. The American public are done with the Great society, Affirmative Action and a welfare state mentality emanating from Washington. Going forward these legislators must be voted out of office in the next election. States should adopt recall measures to pull their representatives back from Washington if they cannot represent the greater good of their constituency. You see the true agenda is to solidify central power through socialism and economic stat-ism.

If the legislation was true and expanded freedom it would not have to be hidden and passed without being read. Instead we are told It needs to be passed NOW , IMMEDIATELY, WE CAN’T WAIT.

Mr. president you were not put in office to promote the pent up agenda of crazed left wing politicians representing a socialist agenda. I conclude that for the most part your election was due to a rejection of the Bush agenda for eight years. Mr. Emanuel and yourself should not confuse the two. You could really turn this around if you listened to America instead of the close little circle in your party. There are two simple principles you could begin to promote.

1st. Enact legislation that begins to disperse power away from Washington. It is locally where power is easily checked and best monitored.
.
2nd. Congress should be bound by the very laws they pass. (like health care)

The American people would see this as a true advancement to reform government. The point you miss is the American people want a reduction of government in our lives not expansion.

WISDOM OF OUR PAST

WISDOM THAT FORTIFIED OUR COMMON HERITAGE.

I am 50 years old born in the the United States of America . I have not been too confident in our country’s direction for quite a while. It could be rationalized that every prior group can become disillusioned about their country due to generational differences. I am sure these differences existed between the generation that witnessed the constitutional convention and the one that grew up with Andrew Jackson’s presidency. Even though these differences exist we should not turn away from the knowledge we can gain from history.

Below is a comment used frequently to crystallize revolutionary thought in colonial America . The statement is by one of Cromwell’s prior solders found guilty of a plot to assassinate Charles II of England . His statement comes as he is about to be drawn and quartered still defiant as to the injustice of monarchical power.

Richard Rumbold.”I may say this is a deluded generation, veiled with ignorance, that though popery and slavery be riding in upon them, do not perceive it; though I am sure there was no man born marked of God above another, for none comes into the world with a saddle on his back, neither any booted and spurred to ride him.”

I believe the fundamental problem is that we as a people have allowed the federal government to become too powerful thereby overly intrusive in our lives. Government has become the problem, a major cause of anxiety within our republic. It is this constant nonsense from Washington (which goes unchallenged by the media) that aids this distress and fear on a daily basis and people are agonizing over it.

“The deterioration of a government begins almost always by the decay of its principles.”
VIII, ch. I Charles de Montesquieu.

A new perception seems to be taking hold in the country. We no longer have a rational government that holds the best interest of the United States at heart. The last two administrations that controlled the White House for sixteen years assisted in the establishment of laws that have notably continued this intrusiveness. Through the use of federal dollars Washington exerts greater control over local communities. Some of these dictates are born in bureaucratic departments without legislative scrutiny. The congress has never been further from its constituency or more deaf to the needs as to the greater good of these communities. The use of televised and printed (emergency) politics has reached a new level where hast to enact sweeping restrictive laws takes precedent without discussion or debate. The speed in which these laws are being passed reeks with the fear of detection as if the merit of the legislation itself is deceitful.

What type of personality craves the office of a politician in present day Washington ? Our first president walked away from the aphrodisiac of power two hundred and twelve years ago. It was said that King George III commented that if Washington left the seat of power “he would be the greatest man in the world”. The office of the presidency has been usurped granting narrow favors to the very people that finance their campaign? The key word being narrow. Hell even there own kids are becoming lobbyist or running for office consolidating generational influence.

When you surrender to the collective thought of the party you loose your ability to be effective in your job. Instead of your unique insight you begin to make decision based on party loyalty. There was a young congressman today bellowing that “he would rather have the government decide his health care options than an insurance company driven by a profit motive “. Let’s look to the one thing congress has been in charge of for many years (federal spending) the result is out of control deficits. At least the private sector (staying private) cannot bankrupt the total population of the country. The opinion polls echo the belief that congress no longer represents the will of the people or the greater good of the country. I am sure there are enlightened legislators in office and coming up, nevertheless my problem lies with the structure that promotes this environment.

“But constant experience shows us that every man invested with power is apt to abuse it, and to carry his authority as far as it will go.”
XI, ch. 4 Charles de Montesquieu.

Through out history a large centralized government has never worked. Yet each new generation of politicians advance the same agenda with a new label to validate their lives. Then we as a country have to untangle the mess decades later (Fannie May, Freddie Mac).

John Witherspoon .
“The only reward that a state can be supposed to bestow upon good subjects in general is protection and defense”.

I would argue that we as Americans should reverse this latest political path and limit the size and intrusiveness of our government. We should return to a path that magnifies common sense not invalidates it. Restricting the reach of the federal government would decrease the narrow calculating influences that shape the national legislative agenda.
The American people could again trust their leaders and not be ashamed by their lack of diligence with regard to the American legacy. It is exactly that legacy the world looks to and fights for as the definition of freedom. ( Honduras , Iran ).

Frederic Bastiat.”The state is the great fiction by which everybody tries to live at the expense of everybody else. The doctrine that places the moving force of Society in the legislators and Government results in imposing crushing responsibilities on them in matters where they ought to have none. If there is suffering, the fault is the Government’s; if there is poverty, the fault is the Government’s - Is it not the general and sole motor of society? If the motor is not good, it must be discarded and replaced by another.”

Without even a facade of common sense the federal government risks anarchy. Legislative actions seem beset by irrationality. Even though people are very disturbed at the path both the legislative and executive branches have taken us down (look at congressional poll numbers) the rule of law must be maintained at all cost. That does not mean (government) uses the contrivance of (emergency powers) to suppress assembly. These tactics are usually invoked by cowards and are easily evident to the public as the last act of a fearful entrenched government. In America we change the law. We are not prone to chaos.

The following statement seems to spell out the intent of the founding fathers.

Samuel Seabury 1774 ” Government was intended for the security of those who live under it- to protect the weak against the strong- the good against the bad- to preserve order and decency among men, preventing everyone from injuring his neighbor. Every person, then, owes obedience to the laws of the government under which he lives, and is obliged on honor and duty to support them. Because if one has a right to disregard the laws of the society to which he belongs, all have the same right ; and then government is at an end.”
.
The founding fathers being well versed both in Latin and history, created a form of government that held individual rights superior to that of the state. This was the first republic in history to anchor the hierarchy of such natural rights.

Let’s look at three thousand years of acquired thought, culminating in the birth of the United States of America . Incidentally, Latin was the popular language taught in the early American educational system. You were expected you to know the English language when you entered school which was taught at home.

A government that is big enough to give you all you want is big enough to take it all away.”– Barry Goldwater

“Government is not reason, nor eloquence. It is force. And like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearsome master.”– George Washington”

Which condition would require more force, large or limited government? I can understand force to right a current injustice such as slavery in early America . When laws are not uniform to all the seeds of tyranny begin to grow. This statement on slavery does not condone a view by some that prior generational actions require the current generation to atone for such past conduct. The argument for reparations is nothing but outright theft.

When the government begins the task of regulating my life choices, I must begin to question the power and motive of that government. Every tax dollar I abdicate sending an individual to college through affirmative action binds my own ability (through force) to send my own child to school. Funds accumulated through private foundations or voluntary donations are acceptable because they are free from government coercion. By what right does the government ask me to sacrifice my child’s future for another?

Alexis de Tocqueville. “About this race of men stands an immense and tutelary power, which takes upon itself alone to secure their gratifications and to watch over their fate. That power is absolute, minute, regular, provident, and mild. It would be like the authority of a parent if, like that authority, its object was to prepare men for manhood; but it seeks, on the contrary, to keep them in perpetual childhood: it is well content that the public should rejoice, provided they think of nothing but rejoicing. For their happiness such a government willingly labors, but it chooses to be the soul agent and the only arbiter of that happiness; it provides for their security, foresees and supplies their necessities, facilitates their pleasures, manages their principle concerns, directs their industry, regulates the descent of property, and subdivides their inheritances; what remains, but to spare them all care of thinking and all the trouble of living?

The new government czars (33 as of last count) are needed to streamline mountains of red tape to accomplish the original function of the agency they control. I would argue that the appointment of so many czars is an acknowledgment as to the inefficiency of a fixed bureaucracy. If that is the case we should reduce the headcount of government employees. The other day it was reported that public service wages for the first time have surpassed that of the private sector.

The history of government involvement in industry is dubious at best.
Instead of a free market approach to energy our representatives divert the natural flow of capital creating more bureaucracy and an onerous tax ploy (The cap and trade bill). This type of legislation is exactly what gives rise to the distrust of government within the American psyche. It truly illuminates the assumption that the legislator is a slave to special interest groups. There is possible evidence that over reaching legislation may have been the impetus that caused much of this financial cataclysm (Fannie and Freddie Mac).

Here is the substance of the situation.
Large Government is not capable of respecting individual freedom. They are also not equipped to be efficient. Government has a just role in the defense of the nation and to uphold property rights through a court system that defends contract law. The function of Government is not to take control or back one group against another as in the Chrysler and GM bailout.

“It is not the function of our Government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from falling into error.”– Robert H. Jackson

Distrust plagues the economy. The markets are vacillating partially due to the ineptitude of rules emanating from Washington . The federal government’s quest for control hampers the ability of knowledgeable people to move the economy forward. Individuals cannot plan when government has fostered an environment with autocratic laws and inconsistent rules. Large companies profit from this centralized approach.

Capitalism demands innovation. Central planning has never brought society forward without an idea or seed planted by the individual. That seed can only take place in a free society (good or bad) and will be judged by history. The recent avalanche of top down legislation has already been discredited by history. The more they try to harness the individual the more they loose the conditions necessary to bring the creative intellect forward. The marriage between government and large corporations is rampant in Washington . I don’t regard this alliance as free enterprise capitalism. It seems to be a methodical alternate to obtain market share which is hostile to free competition.

You can actually sense the fear in Washington . They used to raise the sin taxes on cigarettes and alcohol a few cents to close a deficit. (Note the taxes never seem to go down after enacted). These sin taxes are no longer enough to satisfy the voracious spending by Washington . Now they need to go after the necessities of life by taxing energy through cap and trade and nationalizing health care.

Useless laws weaken the necessary laws. XXIX, ch. 16 Charles de Montesquieu

As the citizenry of the country we must take some blame if not all of it by looking to government for help. We are disavowing our birthright through either ignorance or apathy. Our founding fathers were aware of this tendency for some men to concentrate power. This historical backed recognition led to the Bill of Rights elevating the sovereignty of the individual above the state…

Thomas Jefferson
warned George Washington in 1791 if the federal government was allowed to overstep its bounds with regards to the States “to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible to any definition.” Keep government limited and close to home. That will maintain freedom.

The Preamble of the constitution states: We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America,

As the debate began in America over the rational of the Constitution and its objective. Samuel Adams and others began to draft the argument “That the Constitution is fixed; it is from thence that the supreme legislative as well as the supreme executive derives his authority.”

John Zubly in his 1769 pamphlet, An Humble Enquiry. “The rule of law–the constitution–is superior to the Parliament”. He further declared that Parliament derives its authority and power from the constitution, and not the Constitution from Parliament.” The Constitution ” is permanent and ever the same,” and Parliament ” can no more make laws which are against the Constitution or the unalterable privileges of British subjects than it can alter the constitution itself the power of Parliament , and of every branch of it, has its bounds assigned by the constitution.”

The fundamental basis of the constitution is to delineate the power of government. The constitution derives it’s authority by the very process that brought the document into existence (ratification by the states) through the consent of the people of the United States .

On Natural Rights. In 1766 John Dickinson argued that “Kings and Parliaments cannot give the rights essential to happiness.” “We claim them from a higher source from the king of kings, and Lord of all the earth. They are not annexed to us by parchments and seals. They are created in us by the degrees of Providence , which establish the laws of our nature. They are born with us; exist with us; and cannot be taken from us by any human power without taking our lives. In short, they are founded on the immutable maxims of reason and justice.”

The rights acknowledged in the Bill of Rights are accepted as (natural rights). These rights cannot be conferred by government to the people. They are not governments to give. We are born with these rights. The constitution recognizes these rights and we the people validate the constitution. The dictator that revokes these rights seals their own doom. They leave no other door open to free people except force. The use of the word rights is bantered around in the media. Here is a sample of original intent. This definition below was taken from a paper by Michael Kearney (The Purpose of the U.S. Constitution).

The Founders all knew that the Constitution neither gave nor guaranteed any “rights,” as Natural Rights cannot be given by any government, as no man or group of men has the power either to give or restrict the rights of others. In Thomas Jefferson’s words, our rights are “endowed to us by our Creator,” not any government. Neither can a government guarantee any of our “Natural Rights.” Liberty is always tenuous. It can be taken from us, at gunpoint, by either thugs or rogue government officials. Franklin knew this when he admonished the woman who tormented him with the question, “What kind of government is this that you give us,” replying, “A republic Madame, if you can keep it.”

The federal government exists to serve the states, not the other way around. The states have the right and the duty to restrain the federal government. The states hired the federal government and set forth the rules as to how it should operate. The Constitution is a list of those rules. It is the responsibility of the states to enforce the Constitution to manage the federal government.

“Freedom is not something that anybody can be given; freedom is something people take and people are as free as they want to be.”– James Baldwin.

Even though free enterprise capitalism has never truly been tested. We have a system that allows competition among private enterprise. This practice has provided us with the highest standard of living in the world. As long as we maintain capitalism as the engine of economical growth we will be a free nation. When we follow people that believe in large governmental solutions accompanied by a welfare state mentality we begin surrender our freedom.

The shame of this new president was that he could have enhanced competency among Americans with the idea of individual responsibility. Instead he talks of responsibility but crafts a system that reward’s incompetence and advances America towards socialism.

6. All legislation in front of congress should be transparent and visible (not accessible two hours before the vote). Prohibit the use of non vetted attachments.

“There is no greater tyranny than that which is perpetrated under the shield of the law and in the name of justice” Charles de Montesquieu

The left talk of fairness yet exercise the blunt force of government through quota’s and affirmative action legislation. It is the ability of the individual that steers ones career not the heavy hand of government. Color or ethnicity seems to be the litmus test for occupational advancement. By embracing this path you create a huge bureaucracy to enforce these restrictive laws. Even worse is the abrogation of optimism inflicted on the young through biased laws that cripple their hopes and dreams for the future.

Socialists employ force in order to get their agenda through. As opposed to legislation that increases freedoms which passes almost without debate or opposition. Acceptance is not difficult because it favors all. It is the narrow views of an influence peddler that requires hours of debate due to the narrow benefits it confers to one group over another. If a group thinks their goal of universal health care is noble, we must ask our self, at whose expense or whose rights does this noble goal violate?

There is a role of force by the government in insuring the rights of the individual such as property and life. As mentioned earlier slavery is a good illustration where governmental force was needed and enacted. The force halted the practice of one individual to control and interrupt the natural rights of another human being. That is the ethical purpose of government. Almost every other agenda from health care to global warming are political requiring force on the American people. These programs are not being instituted to protect individual rights they are an assault on individual rights.

Money confiscated through higher taxes will interfere with your individual dreams of sending your child to private school, a family vacation, a new car, a new home. Government control only diverts capital from its natural flow creating false markets. When the majority of our population is dependent on some remuneration or service by the government our freedom will be lost. You will never be able to restrict the size and intrusiveness of government until it implodes. It is at this point the dictator emerges to calm your fears and alleviate your burdens.

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”– Benjamin Franklin

William Penn.” Governments, like clocks, go from the motion men give them, and as governments are made and moved by men, so by them they are ruined too. Wherefore governments rather depend upon men than men upon governments”.

The bottom line is history only shows one direction and that it is to reduce centralized governmental power not expand it. Inevitably concentrated authority is discredited and society returns to a more natural state where local influence is easily kept in check. I would dissuade the young would be bureaucrat from entering into a government career. The quest for power always leads to disappointment because it is never fully achieved. Look to the satisfaction of freeing mankind not controlling it. Instead use your mind to enhance exploration in science and physics and other disciplines that advance freedom. Throw off the bankrupt philosophy of the welfare state it will only confuse and enslave you.

So before these current legislators are thrown out of office in the next election. I would ask Congress to commit occupational suicide. Craft laws to limit your own power and that of future elected officials. Bring in to existence legislation that performs in the best interest of the Republic instead of your own. Enact laws that concentrate power at the local level where it is best checked. You may no longer have a job but you would make history. You could be proud of accomplishing something great. That you gave the country back to its rightful owners, the American people.

You see I am a free man. The current congress or white house may not understand a declarative statement such as that. Although it is the embodiment of that statement that impels mankind to stand erect, proud and confident of the future. The burden of proof rests with the administration to make the case why I should follow a large government, socialist agenda. So far as I have commented in the beginning, I have little confidence.

The Democratic 4 year plan

The Democratic four year plan.

1.  Mr Obama will tackle as much as he can without regard to mainstream American philosophy. Push the socialist agenda and capture more of the American population bringing about greater dependence on government during a recession.

2. Sin taxes on cigarettes and alcohol cannot give cover to an easy way of hiking taxes any longer. Now the government furthers it’s obsession to increase control over your life. Energy through cap and trade and health care ( a single payer option ). All in the name of FAIRNESS. America then hands over its freedom to government bureaucrats resulting in a huge federal organization controlling 17% of the gross domestic product of the country.

“It is different this time.” RIGHT ?.

I would say look to removing government mandates and leave the decision to individuals through a medical savings account system. Open up competition in the insurance field and watch prices come down.

Peggy Noonan ( Declarations. Wall Street Journal ) July 18th 2009
Knowing Washington as well as you do, I thought your conclusion on Hillary was possibly to exalting.

I hope this does not sound to Machiavellian despite my belief that there is a problem in America called ( Entrenched Government ).

Here is a little speculation.

Maybe a bargain was forged between the democratic leadership, Mr.Obama and Hillary Clinton when she abruptly decided to step out of the race for President in 2008.

Mr.Obama deal was never to run for a second term. The goal is to ram through as much of a socialist agenda as possible without the fear of low approval ratings going forward. The left knows these proposals will cause a presidential and congressional election backlash. The maneuver gives the left greater control over the voting class cementing their base. This results in more Americans relegated to dependency upon a welfare state mentality.

2012 Election begins and Mr. Obama graciously steps aside due to some concocted  excuse. Health reasons or maybe someone leaks his true birth certificate ( kidding ).

Then miraculously Hillary steps forward, fresh from four years of international experience as secretary of state. ( international experience being one of her short comings in the 2008 election ). The tough laws ( energy and health care ) are done, the base expanded and Hillary can run more to the center to capture the trust of mainstream American. There is an old psychological trick , define an emergency create a solution so onerous that people balk but then sooth the outrage with a compromise that was calculated from the start. Never let a good emergency go to waste aye Mr. Emanuel.

The problem is the American people who thought they were voting for CHANGE will not get reduced government but larger more intrusive government. Look at California.

Hillary in office is the same as Obama the same people are in his administration. As with the Bush administrations same people different party. If you add the years of both Bush 1 and 2, Clinton 1 and 2 ( assuming 8 yrs of Hillary and Obama 4 yrs you have 32 years of the same agenda ( large central government ). These administrations appear to be more interested in a international outcome than what may be in the best interest domestically.

Just a little speculation.

2 Questions

I listened to various governors talking points on CSPAN this morning. The mantra is the federal government can do certain things better than the private sector. They point to social security and medicare. Last time I looked both programs were set to go bankrupt. The governmental option ( or single payer ) caries an unfair competitive edge ( no cost of capital ). This advantage will slowly push the free enterprise system out of the market. If you really looked at cost look towards government mandates.

Two questions:

1 If legislation is passed will the congress and first family be mandated to receive the same level of care.?

2. The government seems to think they can do a better job than the private sector. If you are so good at cost containment why are most state budgets in a deficit. ?

This will be another disaster for the country from Washington.

END RUN

Yesterday it was announced the Securities and Exchange Commission wants to regulate and thereby create a market to trade California I.O.U,s. This in effect would  allow state governments to print money. I know the federal government is straining at the leash to bail California out but Congress knows this would not be tolerated by the other states. So lets do the end run and create another bogus market and lay the seeds for the next bubble.

FORCE

socialism

**Senator Obama states yesterday he shared his toys as a child and therefor he is being called a socialist. I’m glad his understanding of socialism is so insightful. The reality of socialism is force. What he should have said is I took , stole, confiscated the toys from another child because I thought it was not fair he had more than I. Are Americans really going to give a bureaucrat the status of referee on what is fair or not?. I hope the country wakes up next Tuesday.

The Media

Media in the pocket of Socialists

**I can not believe what I hear on the TV . I can believe one thing If the socialists get there way along with the media. You will have a democratic aristocracy that has nothing to do with the values that made this country great. You will finally hear how great America is and the can do country in the depth of the greatest depression supported by socialist legislation that this country has ever seen. That is when our great protector , our honest watch dog of government will tell us how great we are. When for the last 40 years they have been complacent in every way to bring down the America we grew up with. It is only after they have brought individualism down they will half to defend there socialist view through the media. America can still win. Ask yourself large government or small government?

Don’t Forget About Congress

Outrage

**Where is the voter outrage from America towards Congress? Approval ratings in single digits. Members being reelected ( through there state machine )year after year and now there children running to replace there family seat and continue the cronyism. Most of these financial problems have been a result of misguided legislation coming from congress. To clean up the mess they created and to cover there tracks more regulation more market distortion. I read an email that was being sent around and the point was no matter what party you are if repub vote repub if dem vote dem just make sure you vote the incumbent out.

Bring it Home

WIN

**This is the exact message the McCain campaign must drive home Socialism and big government. Vs. Private Property rights with small government. I would recommend Mr.McCain read a few Ayn Rand novels and expose the terrible methodology of Collectivism for what it is. I don’t know if Mr. Obama’s life at Harvard was due to a scholarship or an affirmative action program of some sort. As I listen to his speeches there is no substance and everything is more spending and what government is going to do for you. I believe he possible may not know how capitalism and a free society work. If you had everything given to you by big government I can see how he can make the next leap in his mind to believe everybody should get the same from big government. The only problem is in order to carry out these plans you have to take from the rest. In a socialist environment force is acceptable for the collective good. It is this thought process that the McCain campaign must flush out and expose. These are the dangers of the collectivist mindset that Mr. Obama and the Democrats continue to work towards by redistributing your wealth
