Romney has flip flopped on ObamaCare more than once.  The latest “story” is he’ll “grant waivers for all 50 states”, before that it was “repeal ObamaCare”.  No need for waivers if repealed.   His campaign ideals are far from consistent and lack honesty and integrity.  Americans want a man of character not a showboat who makes excuses like I change my positions just as business leaders adapt to the changing biz environment.

Yes true, but in politics those who change tend to be less reliable and consistent till elected therefore trust is an issue.  Once a position is solidified most voters expect the candidate to remain firm. Conservative policy hasn’t changed as much as Romney has.  Romney has also said gov and the biz world are 2 different environments, he said this criticizing Rick Perry as someone who never ran a company.  So flip flopping is something he needs to work on and I don’t see that changing yet Romney has been working towards 2012 since 2008.

What about the states that don’t want a wavier???  Does Romney plan to allow ObamaCare to drain Fed resources to liberal states including Massachusetts? Why wouldn’t MA pass the buck on to the Fed? California, OR, WA and so on, yikes, we end up paying billions.   Thanks to Romney, fed taxpayers already pay half the cost ofMA’s RomneyCare in, or should I call it ObamneyCare.  Either way the bill was poorly vetted and the Smitten one signed it anyway.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Libya and the announcement of the death of Osama bin Laden, and have therefore raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “A Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level
was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let’s get the Bastards.” They don’t have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ‘s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country’s military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”

The Germans have increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbor” and “Lose.”

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She’ll be alright, Mate.” Two more escalation levels remain: “Crikey! I think we’ll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!” and “The barbie is canceled.” So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.

In blog one David Frum race baits and suggests the GOP should have ignored this issue, which they did, in the second blog the next day Frum blames the GOP for not getting involved in this sooner.   What a poor excuse for a CONservative because Frum has the CON game on and he’s a joke and not a serious conservative.   When conservatives succumb to race baiting we lose legitimacy on important issues, save till a true racial issue arrises.  Small issues like the birther stuff only hurt Obama not the GOP which avoided the birther crowd for the most part.

The media are at fault for not investigating the birther stuff in more detail in 2007, instead most shrugged it off and we all know the liberal media fanned the birther flames after the inauguration and they ran polls as did Pew Research’s poll in August 2010 just in time for the elections.

Now the more haunting question: How did this poisonous and not very subtly racist allegation get such a grip on our conservative movement and our Republican party?

I know there will be Republican writers and conservative publicists who will now deny that birtherism ever did get a grip. Sorry, that’s just wrong. Not only did Trump surge ahead in Republican polls by flaming racial fires – not only did conservative media outlets from Fox to Drudge to the Breitbart sites indulge the birthers – but so also did every Republican candidate who said, “I take the president at his word.” Birthers did not doubt the president’s “word.” They were doubting the official records of the state of Hawaii. It’s like answering a 9/11 conspiracist by saying, “I take the 9/11 families at their word that they lost their loved ones.”

Yet even now, the racialist aspect of the anti-Obama movement has not subsided. Trump has moved from the birth certificate to questioning the president’s academic qualifications for the Harvard Law School. Trump himself was a troubled student (at one point he attended a military school) who nonetheless gained admission to Wharton. His father’s wealth and business success cannot have hurt with that application. Yet he feels himself qualified to pronounce on who is and who is not smart enough to attend Harvard Law. Barack Obama graduated magna cum laude. (And to anticipate a new line of attack – yes, Harvard Law School exams were blind-graded.) He was elected editor of the law review. And his classmates, left and right, universally admired his abilities.

I wish it were otherwise, but it does seem that these racialized attacks on Obama have exacted a toll on him. But they also have exacted a toll on the opposition to Obama. The too-faint repudiation of birtherism by regular Republicans has shaped not only the Obama brand, but also the Republican brand. It was not only white people who heard the implied message about who counts and who does not count as a “real American.”

I write as an opponent of virtually every major and minor action of this administration. Republicans should be fighting this president on policy, not winking at those who use race as a weapon. It’s worth recalling the generous words of John McCain on election night 2008:

Abe Greenwald suggests at the Commentary blog that President Obama deliberately exploited the birth certificate pseudo-controversy.

Greenwald suggests that the president cunningly baited a trap with the conscious intent of portraying his opponents as racist lunatics.

Greenwald may very well be correct about this. Question: Faced with such a devilish ploy, how might Republicans and conservatives have avoided being victimized? Here’s a thought. What about: not walk into it?

Instead, with rare exceptions, leading Republicans from the Speaker of the House downward played games with the birther issue. Maybe they played those games unhappily, but they played the games even so. That was a choice, not a compulsion. And some Republicans – Sarah Palin inevitably, but others too – did much more than play games. That was a choice too.

What else could Republicans have done? They might have answered as Bill Clinton answered when confronted by 9/11 conspiracy theorist hecklers. He heard them out. He recapitulated the facts. He restated the truth. And he told people who continued to defy reality that they “looked like idiots.” He added for good measure: “We heard from you. You go away.”

We can thank the Illuminator in Chief Obama for outlawing incandescent bulbs before thorough research was conducted on compact florescent bulbs.  The rush to outlaw the bulbs is consistent with the Envirofascist style of scare first, study later, say opps ummm never and Obama followed the same people who said paper grocery sacks kill the environment, the same group now want to outlaw plastic sacks because the children finally figured out that trees are “renewable”.  The adults on the right tried just as they did with light bulbs.

These bulbs aren’t as bright and they don’t always fit in lamps so what will the left think of next?  Though more studies are needed I felt people should know now for health precautions and because the liberal media haven’t discussed this so I wonder what will it take to focus on this issue.  I think Dems are trying to find a way to blame Bush because this one is on Obama.   Hope and Change that light bulb! Their report advises that the bulbs should not be left on for extended periods, particularly near someone’s head, as they emit poisonous materials when switched on.

Peter Braun, who carried out the tests at the Berlin’s Alab Laboratory, said: “For such carcinogenic substances it is important they are kept as far away as possible from the human environment.”

The bulbs are already widely used in the UK following EU direction to phase out traditional incandescent lighting by the end of this year.

But the German scientists claimed that several carcinogenic chemicals and toxins were released when the environmentally-friendly compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) were switched on, including phenol, naphthalene and styrene.

Andreas Kirchner, of the Federation of German Engineers, said: “Electrical smog develops around these lamps.

“I, therefore, use them only very economically. They should not be used in unventilated areas and definitely not in the proximity of the head.”

British experts insisted that more research was needed and urged consumers not to panic.

Dr Michelle Bloor, senior lecturer in Environmental Science at Portsmouth University, told the Daily Express: “Further independent studies would need to be undertaken to back up the presented German research.”

The Department for the Environment insists the bulbs are safe, despite the fact that they contain small amounts of mercury which would leak out if the glass was broken.

Advice on its website states: “Energy efficient light bulbs are not a danger to the public.

“Although they contain mercury, limited at 5mg per lamp, it cannot escape from a lamp that is intact.

“In any case, the very small amount contained in an energy efficient bulb is unlikely to cause harm even if the lamp should be broken.”

The latest report follows claims by Abraham Haim, a professor of biology at Haifa University in Israel, that the bulbs could result in higher breast cancer rates if used late at night.

He said that the bluer light that CFLs emitted closely mimicked daylight, disrupting the body’s production of the hormone melatonin more than older-style filament bulbs, which cast a yellower light.

The Migraine Action Association has warned that they could trigger migraines and skin care specialists have claimed that their intense light could exacerbate a range of existing skin problems.

Al Gore has been going down hill since his failed bid for the presidency.  Can’t wait till the ClimateGate House investigations begin, they’re still planning them right?  I certainly hope so.  Even liberals should see through the scam and wonder why Carbon Derivatives will be used……aren’t they against derivatives?  If Gov could prove CO2 is a threat then perhaps CO2 could be taxed.  But even then we wouldn’t need derivatives because Gov could tax industry directly with no need for publicly traded futures aka derivatives.  So wallstreet gets what they want and liberals just lie down and take it while everyday costs go up to compensate for industry costs.  Food and energy costs are way up, wait till CO2 permits trade, this liberal scheme will starve the poor and we’ll see more retirees freezing in the winter.  And Keith Olbermann will usher in the hysteria.
