Start is close it just seems like it might get punted until after the DREAM fails and DADT likely passes and the GOP at that stand point might just decide they will go home and deal with start when they get back in January. That is the reports I’ve been hearing at least. Granted I wrote this post right after reading one of those, but

I’ll say START is pretty much 50-50 at this stand point and when I wrote this post I thought it was 55-60 likely to fail.

Unless Republicans decide to change their current votes. I believe Reid has 55-57 for Dream, 67 for Start, and over 60 for DADT.

But in a pure political sense, it is vastly better if DADT passes but DREAM fails. It also would’ve been better to punt the “tax deal” into the next congress, but the GOP already screwed that up, and Obama is “teh bestz!” for being such a brilliant team player (puke). Now, more than ever, it’s time to embrace being the “party of ‘no’”.

I know you haven’t been here long, but, this is a comment for an open thread, not a diary. This will cause good diaries to page down faster than they should. If there are no open diaries, many here use the Morning Briefing as an open diary.

this is one issue that some will slam Pence on. I have read some comments that the Pence Immigration deal was “back door amnesty.” Decide for yourself. The Republicans have a bad habit of kicking controversial problems down the road. There’s more to the third rail of politics than just SS. At some point, someone is going to have to put teeth in the current Immigration law, already on the books, or will have to address the issue. If the Republicans don’t do it, the Progressives will, and , it won’t be to anyone’s liking.

Love to hear the thoughts on the Pence plan.

I rifled off the diary because the news was just mostly forming on the handicaps of each of the bills.
