Liberal Fascism, Courtesy of Esquire Magazine

The following is a rebuttal to a chatty little piece written by John Richardson on www.esquire.com

Mr. Richardson:

Your argument against the Tea Party (Dear Tea Party: This Is What America Stands For) comes across as condescending, elitist, and incredibly ill-informed. Keep it up, because the more social liberals bash this movement, it only makes them stronger.  Attitudes like yours are the exact reason WHY the Tea Party is protesting.

In the typical strategy, liberals resort to name-calling and insults whenever any group of people present either cold-hard facts, or a point of view differing from their own (case in point, your smear).  After all, talking down to the public will certainly work, since the Tea Party just “doesn’t know any better.”

Let’s review, shall we?

1) The deficit IS huge and frightening.  Now why should the American people trust a government that put us in that position?  Why should we trust our health care to a bunch of corrupt politicians that can’t even balance a budget?  It’s completely unacceptable that President Obama — who requested his THIRD deficit-spending cap in his FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE — turns around in the SOTU address and lectures America on “fiscal responsibility.”

2) Your attempt at using stats from the Congressional Budget Office is laughable, at best.  GOP Congressman Paul Ryan single-handedly refuted that preposterous claim at President Obama’s healthcare “summit” last month. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/main-event-ryan-v-obama

And your pathetic attempt at trying to say this plan will save money?

This just in: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100317/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_overhaul_fact_check

3) The liberal ignorance is glaring, especially when you use lobbyist websites (Center for American Progress).  That is a website run and operated by progressive activists; it is not a bi-partisan site in any way.  I wonder aloud if it is, perhaps, YOU Mr. Richardson that is “being manipulated”, and that needs to “wake up.”

Social Security is in the red; that is true.  But that is where the reality ends.  The President himself already stated, “only non-defense related spending would endure cuts” during his proposal for a freeze.  Veteran’s benefits are already covered, and the same with national defense….sounds like “defense related” expenditures are safe.

It is quite ironic that the same people who protested and wailed against President Bush, are now questioning the “Patriotism” — as you so clearly put it – of those that don’t support this hostile takeover, disguised as “reform.”  You fail to recognize that almost 60% of Americans do not support this bill and those numbers rise each day!  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35897512/ns/politics/

What’s more alarming than the protests are the condescending attitudes of liberals.  You talk down to the American public, like they “just don’t know any better.”  Want proof?  Look no further than the tripe you posted on your magazine’s website.

Furthermore, why shouldn’t the people protest against the government, when Democrats openly talk about their attempts at reconciliation:  http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/16/opinion/16brooks.html?ref=opinion

And The Slaughter Rule: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703909804575123512773070080.html?mod=rss_opinion_main

And whenever facts are brought up, or Tea Partiers come about, we hear comments like this from the Left: http://www.google.com/search?q=all+tea+partiers+are+white+msnbc&hl=en&tbs=vid:1&tbo=u&ei=3ZKgS6-ANZqX_Qaa18T7DQ&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CBkQqwQwAw

I don’t know, Mr. Richardson.  You call it spreading fear, but where is the source of that fear?  The answer goes without saying.

What’s most troubling about your smear-piece are your contradictions.  You defend Communism and Nazism (two systems of collectivism that were solely responsible for millions of deaths in the last 100 years), then you turn around and mock the Bible.  You defend socialism, a system that pays no credence to religion, and then you attempt to use Bible verses out of context against the people you disagree with.

I’m a Roman Catholic, so let me help you out.  The verse you want to look for is from 2 Thessalonians 3:10 — “For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”

And that is the crux of this whole argument.  It’s not about “selfishness”; it’s about government charity.  There is nothing wrong about giving to charity, healing the sick, and helping the poor.  It is man’s FREE WILL that will determine “hope and change” in the world.  Real hope and change starts at the bottom, and works its way up.  It comes from the people, not from government.  Remember — we regard Jesus Christ as a king TODAY, but when he walked among us, secular society did not view him as a king (in this case, government). His teachings started at the lowest level – within the society itself — and now those teachings and edicts are common.  Or should be…

The federal government raising taxes and creating a national healthcare system looks good on the surface, as with all liberal ideas.  But in the long run, all those ideas are not steeped in reality.   I am willing to listen and support some kind of reform: tort legislation, outlaw pre-existing conditions, and the sale of insurance across state lines.  But I am very much against a complete takeover of our healthcare system.  I am very much against raising the taxes of 250 million people to provide health care for the remaining 45 million.  Most of all, I am wholeheartedly against a government that makes up the rules as it goes along, forgets the Constitution, ignores the people, and promotes open-and-blatant condescension towards American citizens invoking their First Amendment rights.
