In case you have not heard, the latest Gallup poll has McCain up by 3%!
It’s early, and Gallup has not been the most accurate polling organization this year (who has been?), but it is much better news than if the polls showed McCain was still behind after the 2008 Republican Convention.
Good news from Gallup
McCain pulls into the lead

It's still early
wiseprince Sunday, September 7th at 1:06PM EDT (link)Don’t get to excited, it’s still early. There have been no debates yet and the electoral map still favors Obama. That being said it’s obviously better to be +3% nationally than down 3%.
Not to make something out of nothing but will MuslimGate overshadow so called Troopergate?

Agreed, it's early
ZootSuit Sunday, September 7th at 1:16PM EDT (link)And as for “MuslimGate,” it’s an obvious slip of the tongue. The context was a conversation on the claim that Obama is secretly a Muslim and he obviously was falling that train of thought. You’re lost in the train of thought of the central topic of the conversation (ie.g. “being a Muslim”) and that’s the next thing you say. We’ve all done it.
Let me go on the record here and now and say that anyone who tries to make more of it than that is a RACIST!

I think you are way

Given that all I’ve seen of the tape was the 9 seconds posted here I don’t know what it was.
Open debate is always the best path.
Trying to shut down debate and conversation is always the wrong path.
Dohhh! Wrong thread ya think?

actually it isn't TOO early
Dave_in_Fla Sunday, September 7th at 4:46PM EDT (link)Except by a few days. In 9 of the last 10 elections Gallup has shown a 5 to 15 point shift to the right-center candidate within a week of the end of the conventions. McCain going from -2 to +3 is at the low end of the scale, but it will indicate a solid shift to McCain as the front runner. This will likely hold until the debates, where it change if McCain seriously screws up. We should see another 2 to 3 points by next week, with a steady 48-43 advantage. I’m being pessimistic though and would not be surprised to see McCain hit 50%.
But it is not too early. It is occuring exactly when it has historically occurred.

I stand corrected.
ZootSuit Sunday, September 7th at 5:30PM EDT (link)Point well taken. It would be bigoted.

No, correct thread
RMJ Sunday, September 7th at 5:47PM EDT (link)and the next time you want to be snarky about something you only have to hit the “post comment” button once.
My comment was in response to ZootSuit’s excited response to Obama’s gaffe.
"Bigoted" might have been a better word
ZootSuit Sunday, September 7th at 6:10PM EDT (link)But my basic comments stands. I think many people — yes, even some conservatives — are beginning to lose it in their opposition to Obama. As others — yes, even other conservatives — have noted both here on RedState and other places in the conservative blogosphere, if you look at what Obama was trying to say in context, it is obvious that he was not “admitting” that he is a Muslim.
Truthfully, while I sincerely give Moe Lane and others for addressing this issue, I think it said that they even had to. Granted, there are many liberals out there who will accuse “us” conservatives of anything, but why are “we” conservatives so willing to give them ammunition, such as so obviously taking what Obama said out of context in order to “prove” he “admitted” that he is a Muslim.
