Your Move, Mitt: No Obama Apology For Bain Comments.

The Romney campaign demanded an apology from Obama concerning Stephanie Cutter’s comments that Romney was a felon

“He’s not going to get an apology,” Cutter said Sunday of CBS’ “Face the Nation.

So that’s the way this campaign’s gonna be: another 4 months of lies, deception, and misinformation Chicago-style (not that we expected anything else for Obama and Co.). And I won’t even hit on the hypocrisy of this attack considering Obama’s dismal record, especially from a guy with no private sector experience whatsoever

So what’s your plan, Mitt? Playing defense and taking the high ground don’t win wars from either a military or political standpoint. You were pretty willing to trash your fellow GOPers in the primary, but you handle Obama with kid gloves. I’d be less concerned, but the re-election of Obama means this country is toast. You wanted the nomination so badly, so prove that you’re man enough for the job. My country is at stake.

and come out swinging. He better not turn into a McCain wimp and hand a win to O. There is plenty of ammo to use to annihilate Obama. What is Romney waiting for?

  • ww2nd95

He needs to do something. He needs to be aggressive and push his agenda, rather then allow Obama to control the narrative of this campaign, which like it or not, he’s doing right now.

It’s time for something bold, if not now, then soon after the convention. As I’ve said multiple times, he cannot win this election on hatred of Obama alone, it won’t work. Romney cannot skate into the White House without getting his hands dirty.

  • http://travismonitor.blogspot.com Freedoms Truth

Yes, we are all impatient for Romney et al to go after Obama and defend himself better. Of course shameless Obama wont apologize for their deliberate desperate strategy.

Instead of whining, though, Obama campaign’s low blow is an opportunity to talk about Romney’s olympic experience:

Democrats are good at recycling. All of Obama’s recent attacks are pure Elizabeth Warren. You don’t even need the crib sheet or the Cliff’s Notes.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOyDR2b71ag

Obama isn’t really from Hawaii. He’s from Massachusetts. Don’t ever, ever forget that fact.

  • kowalski

Is that Warren wants to say: “God Bless” and “Keep a Big Hunk of It” to business owners. Obama wants to say: “Your hunk is my hunk. I’m the hunk.”

  • kowalski

He’s from Massachusetts with a very hard undercurrent of Chicago Old School.

Romney has nothing to counter it. First of all he’s a moderate Republican. Second of all, he still believes he’s playing in a world of gentlemen and gentlewomen. He’s not, and he’s going to get kneecapped with the sanctimony of Massachusetts liberals. Because Chicago pol experts like Axelrod will wrap Massachusetts liberal sanctimony around War Hammers and Maces and hit him and his family and everyone else associated with them until he cries uncle and wishes he was at the bottom of Lake Michigan.

It’s a tough, tough fight he’s in. We need to be on his side, because he’s got the real hard players out there in the Heartland wrapping Masschusetts sanctimony around their cudgels and hitting him upside the head and face with them.

Wake up Mitt. This ain’t even Detroit any more. It’s a lot tougher.

  • kowalski

Is that he hasn’t figured out how mean it’s really going to get. None of the people who thought they were building wealth for this country really understand what they’re up against.

It would be a mistake for Romney himself to become upset personally or angry. But his campaign team needs to start listening to people who know what they’re up against, and what they’re up against are really brutal Chicago politicos and they’re going to keep bringing the hammer down unless Romney finds a way to preserve the Gentleman while taking the Gloves Off.

  • kowalski

And so was Donald Trump, I have to say it. But mostly Murdoch. He read Romney very well, I think, and what he read was: “Soft. Used to being accomodated. Not really aware yet how brutal things are going to be, and not very well prepared. Insular and longstandingly so, but in his own bubble of privilege.”

Well, all of that is shattered and Murdoch, the tough Australian, has seen it all in the past few months and he’s on the money. Romney needs to toughen up a whole lot, at least in terms of his thinking. There are no gentlemen in this race at a certain level. This is a blood sport he’s in, and it’s probably the nastiest one the United States has ever seen.

Preserving a measure of decorum through that is going to be an awful task. I don’t know whether or not it can be done.

say kowalski when adding on more and more comments! I hadn’t been here long enough to know the why’s but followed the rule occasionally myself! All in fun, I promise :)

There is no question to me that Romney needs to pick an extremely strong VP candidate. But he should *not* take the bait and announce early in the wake of these recent scumbag-flavored attacks.

Gird your loins and wait. Don’t rush the man.

They weren’t kidding when they enshrined my username as a fixture here and I’m not kidding now. Except sometimes. And in those cases I will let you know.

    I’m not dead, either. :)

Song of the Day is “Seek and Destroy” from Kill ‘em All by Metallica. With all due diligence to people’s sensibilities and the demands of our political process, that is. Romney is a smart enough guy that he can (or at least should be able to) balance this song with all kinds of other, nicer and more accomodating songs by, like, Olivia Newton John. But he has to pick the right times and he has to know when to fight.

I was laughing wtih you, not at you. I really hadn’t seen a comment from you in a long time but I’m not here as much as some, lately.

  • troublingtimes

Romney’s team better figure out very quickly how to play hardball. This CAN’T be McCain all over. They have to be on offense AND defense and just beyond wise and on top of everything. They need someone advising them of the psychology on the Left and dirty games — and how to smash that junk.

Don’t let the other side snake anything through…it’s the only way. I agree that Romney himself needs to remain calm and dignified, but he also has to be strong and address absolutely everything — shut it all down. Don’t let them get away with Chicago politics. Flip it around on them bigtime.

they have died off. It’s all he has. After the Dems, many of his own surrogates, including Clinton, said enough of the Bain bashing, O’s team is coubling down. Calling him a felon is over the top.

Romney should take this latest opportunity to state a few of O’s law-breaking actions: pulling out the rug from GM bondholders, declaring amnesty for grown adults (up to age 30), recess appts., refusing to enforce DOMA, special deals with Pharma to go along with O’care, and the list goes on.

Then he should tell the public what Bain did, contrast it with the energy loans, and use it as a speech to state clearly why capitalism is the best economic policy for all. Not socialism that sucks the life blood out of a country or city. Greece, Stockton, N. Korea, etc. Use it as an educational tool for the masses in simple terms.

I don’t want him to come out as a hateful ranter which will not help him get elected.

  • kowalski

Frankly that’s the truth. I enjoy the company but I don’t like what American politics have become, and I especially don’t like the tone or the tenor of it at all. But nevertheless there’s a substantial choice to be made between our candidates this November and I am sure that there is one I like a lot less than the other when I look forward to the next four years.

It’s nothing personal, really, against Barack Obama. In a lot of ways I identify with him after having read some of his book(s) and knowing his background, and especially knowing how much of a hope vessel he was for the people who shepherded him into the place he is today. I’ve been around that block several times.

He’s wrong for America because fundamentally is a leftist academic. This is not a leftist country and it shouldn’t be. Nothing he’s said or done so far, though, has surprised me very much. This recent attack on Bain Capital comes close, though. His campaign team is really getting into the realm of scary in their desparation. I think it’s going to get worse, and Romney had better be prepared for that.

But thanks, I haven’t commented here at Redstate in a long time. I’ve had my own fish to fry and I’m trying to get all the dead fish off the grill, as it were.

  • kowalski

Today is my birthday, like, for real. And I had a wonderful day talking with a member of my local town’s Rod and Gun Club and spent a lot of time with my family. So I felt good tonight and decided to talk a bit.

I’m not the most erudite person here at Redstate by a long shot but I’ve got a pretty good mind for reading people’s personalities and understanding the context in which they have to make decisions. Romney needs to preserve the Gentleman, most people like the Gentleman – but he also needs to have the Sword to back it up.

  • checkmate2012

and of course I did go get my free Slurpee!

Agree that he should remain a gentleman and can do so and still get his points across.

  • commonsenseobserver

Now he should defend his record on his own terms, and ask Americans to compare it to four years of Barack Obama.

I think the campaign is not focusing enough on its strategy for ultimate victory. We’re reacting to Obama clumsily, not standing up to him, rebutting his lies, AND building the contrast.

  • trimulchio

representations that Bain made about Romney’s role (absent a LOT of footnotes). This was pre-SOX, so not as actively dire as it COULD be, but . . . maybe a wide open convention would not be that bad . . . .

I think a lot of informed people are going to think about this at least a bit in November, not what you need with a candidate who can’t get above 41% on In Trade.

  • Common_Cents

A caller on Rush pointed that out today.

Romney and/or surrogates do need to get tougher like they did in the primary. Hopefully they are just waiting a bit longer to unleash closer to the election in order to not tire out the message.

Where’s Gingrich been? He was successful in attacking Obama getting under the admin’s skin and drawing pathetic reactions. Gingrich giving voters 2 choices, (job creating president or would you like a food stamp president?) are very effective and make people think. He was able to draw clear distinctions in a simple manner for people. Why isn’t he out there being an attack dog for Romney? It seemed he was willing to do so not long after he dropped out.

If Romney goes soft like McCain we are doomed.

  • demsaresatanic

When Rom killed the witchdoctor Wright ads he showed his hand. Obama will simply ramp up the attacks and laugh off Rom’s calls for apologies.

  • liberteen33

Romney isn’t going to win this race by telling Americans to focus on Obama’s record [even though he should].

He needs to take a stand, stop listening to the consultants and talk to Obama like he was a naive college grad trying to get a job at Bain Capital.

  • zpatriot

Really, release you tax returns already! You make it look like you are hiding something. And I really hope you aren’t. I’m already a little queasy with a guy who is off-shoring jobs and off-shoring money that the government needed to give our troops the helmuts and body armor that they were missing.

And what’s this bull about being CEO of Bain, but not being there, but getting $100K salary for not being there, but being in Utah, but still being in Massachusetts so you could run for Governor. I can’t understand a word you are saying! And, if I can’t understand it, you think some swing voter in Ohio is going to figure it out?

Also, is the guy who invented Obama-care/Romney-care, the guy we want making the case on health care?

Also, all this animal cruelty stuff really makes me uncomfortable. A dog on the roof? A drugged up horse? And where did you find that guy Malek who barbecued a dog?

Ugh, we have to dump Romney before it’s too late!

then so are Obama’s actions in the late 1990s as well as his associations. He got a free pass in 2008. Romney had better not pull a McCain, as WCP notes earlier in these comments.
