Biden Campaign Chair Jeffrey Katzenberg Compares Trump to Hitler

The Biden campaign is once again stooping to the lowest levels of political discourse by comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, according to a report from Deadline.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Hollywood over the weekend, Joe Biden's campaign chair, Jeffrey Katzenberg, began by repeating that tired old line about the president's supposed "decency."

“I’ve known Donald Trump for 50 years,” said Katzenberg, who was previously chairman of Disney. “The only thing I can say is he was a colossal asshole then, and nothing has really changed.”

“I’ve known Joe Biden for 40 years, maybe 45 years,” he added. “He is actually one of the most decent human beings I know.”

Katzenberg then went on to cite Trump's recent interview with TIME magazine as evidence of the "catastrophe" America is facing if he triumphs in November.

He continued:

When I was in high school, we were studying Third Reich Germany and the rise of Hitler, and over the holiday, our teacher suggested to the class that, to the degree which we could, please go home and talk to your grandparents. Ask them, what did they read? What did they see? What did they hear? What did they do?

In the case of my family, on my mom’s side, they came from France and on my dad’s side, from Germany and they all said exactly the same thing. We read it; we heard it. We literally did not believe it. Thought this guy was a clown, that what he was saying was so incredibly impossible, and unimaginable. And then we ran for our lives, quite literally.

And I said to my wife, my partner, for 49 years, when my kids, my grandkids when ask me: What did I see? What did I do? I will be able to say that I did every single thing that I could to defend our democracy.

This is not, however, the first time that the Biden campaign and its surrogates have likened Trump to the notorious German dictator.

Last December, the campaign posted a graphic on the X platform in which it tried to equate Trump's rhetoric to that of Hitler during his rise to power.

Making Katzenberg's comments even more bizarre is the fact that Trump himself compared the Biden regime to aspects of Nazi Germany over the weekend, drawing condemnation from his campaign.

“These people are running a Gestapo administration,” Trump was quoted as saying at a recent luncheon. “And it’s the only thing they have. And it’s the only way they’re going to win in their opinion.”

"Trump is once again making despicable and insulting comments about the Holocaust, while in the same breath attacking law enforcement, celebrating political violence, and threatening our democracy," Biden campaign spokesperson James Singer added later in the statement.

The reality is that both sides would be much better off if they avoided such comparisons. Likening Trump and Biden to the evil of Nazi Germany, where millions of people were exterminated as part of an industrialized death machine, only degrades the political conversation in America and around the world.
