The New York Post reports that New York’s state Chairman, Ed Cox, risked the ire of perpetual tantrum thrower, presumptive nominee Donald Trump,  by initially declining to have surrogate and fellow human bobble-head, Newt Gingrich, speak to the delegation Monday morning.

In typical fashion for the organization that follows Mr. Trump’s lead, Chairman Cox’s short-lived decision to do what he thought was best for his own state’s delegation, was met with completely reasonable pushback from the campaign.

Here’s my favorite unifying quote which, again, was merely about disagreeing on a speaker for five seconds.

The insiders said they were stunned by what one called “the clueless stupidity of the Cox people,’’ noting, “Newt isn’t just anybody. The New Yorkers weren’t being ‘offered’ Newt. This is who Donald Trump wanted to speak.’’

Got that? Mr. Trump already made himself clear so there needs to stop being all these questions else something bad might happen to ya.

The fact that a minor disagreement over scheduling was leaked at all is evidence that Trump intends to “punish” Cox over his insubordination and the fact that he hasn’t always been the most enthusiastic Trump supporter.

And by the way, all this “clueless stupidity” was because there was already a lineup for the Monday morning meeting and Cox simply intended on not bumping anyone.

Cox conceded there was a pre-existing schedule for the Monday-morning breakfast that didn’t include Gingrich, but insisted his aides had not rejected him.

“We’re doing exactly what the Trump campaign wants us to do, and it’ll be great to have Newt, who is a great friend, there,’’ Cox told The Post.

WELL YOU’RE NOT DOING EXACTLY WHAT TRUMP WANTS WITH ENOUGH EXCITEMENT, COX! OR SHOULD I SAY COXe?

I expect over the next few months there will many things that are dealt with primarily by trying to make sure Donald Trump doesn’t throw a tantrum. That’s bound to happen when you nominate a man-child.  Recall how he responded to dissent when meeting with Republican senators whose support he needed?

Flake told Trump that he wants to be able to support him — “I’m not part of the Never Trump movement,” the senator said — but that he remains uncomfortable backing his candidacy, the officials said.

Trump said at the meeting that he has yet to attack Flake hard but threatened to begin doing so. Flake stood up to Trump by urging him to stop attacking Mexicans. Trump predicted that Flake would lose his reelection, at which point Flake informed Trump that he was not on the ballot this year, the sources said.

See? Trump does want unity. Actually, more than unity. He wants uniformity! Actually, more than uniformity, he wants obedience.

What a fun election season this is going to be.
