Left-wing governments are rebelling against the Immigration and Enforcement agency’s raids, intent upon #resisting tyrannical Trump. For more, see the positions of mayors in both NYC and Los Angeles (here and here).
So how many have been apprehended in the sweep to send back those who’ve defied court orders?
Not as many as you might think.
The ICE raids that began last week targeted just over 2,100 illegal immigrants “who pose a threat to national security, public safety and border security.” But according to The New York Times, only 35 people have been taken into custody.
Many were able to avoid capture:
[The immense publicity] may have prompted many of those who had been targeted — 2,105 people in more than a dozen cities who had received final deportation orders but had not reported to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers — to temporarily leave their homes, or to move altogether to evade arrest. [Advance warning] also gave immigrant advocates time to counsel families about their rights, which include not opening the door or answering questions.
As for not answering the door, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti offered similar advice to the city’s illegal population.
ICE Acting Director Matthew Albence commented on such a move:
“I don’t know of any other population where people are telling them how to avoid arrest as a result of illegal activity. It certainly makes it harder for us to effectuate these orders issued. You didn’t hear ICE talking about it before the operation was taking place.”
The raids will take place in Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, Denver, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Houston.
Check out Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Michel Moore’s message to those in the city illegally. They may indeed deserve some of the credit for the only-double-digit detainment:
A message for all Angelenos: Here in Los Angeles, we will not be coordinating with ICE.

It’s very odd to see city officials defying the federal government to such a degree. But this is the era of der Fuhrër Trump, so all bets are off. We’re living under new rules, and the left-wing pockets of leadership will continue to #resist, by any means possible and regardless of the outcome.
Brace for more, until Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sits behind JFK’s old desk.
I look forward to your comments.
