If there’s one thing you probably know about Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, it’s that she wants to “impeach the motherf*****.”
She made that clear on the same day she was sworn into Congress — simultaneously becoming the first congresswoman to take her vows on the Quran and the first — so far as I know — to immediately use the mother of all curse words against the President of the United States over a microphone (here).
Strange combo.
Now, Rashida’s in pursuit of even more motherf*****s, and she’s taking no prisoners.
Oh, wait — no, actually, she taking prisoners. Sorry.
On local Detroit news program Deadline Detroit Sunday, she explained that any uncooperative friends, family members, and administrative officials who’ve been subpoenaed for the House’s impeachment inquiry may be jailed:
“There have been actual serious conversations (within the Democratic Caucus) about what the logistics would look like…if we did have to force someone through a court order to come before the congressional committee.”
She also noted that “this is pretty uncharted territory for many of us and even for Congress.”
Rashida isn’t the only one ready to chant “Lock them up.” On Wednesday, California Rep. John Garamendi promoted the same to CNN:
“I think it’s time to call in the sergeant-at-arms and march them off to our little jail, which we do happen to have. Let them sit there and cool off for a while.”
Could we actually see the day?
The Hill reports:
In an inherent contempt proceeding, the House or Senate would have its sergeant-at-arms or a deputy of that person take someone into custody.
The White House has warned Congress that it will not cooperate with an impeachment probe in the Democratic-controlled House, though a State Department official defied an order to not testify this week and met with congressional investigators.
Hopefully, the Dems won’t go down the same subpoena path as was attempted over Russian collusion — according to Donald Trump, Jr., investigators wanted to court-order the financial records of his toddler, Chloe.
That’d put Rashida in a bind, because, if Chloe maintains G. Gordon Liddy-level loyalty to Grandpa Satan, the Dems’ll have to put children in cages. Which they seem to’ve pointed out is something only the Bad Man does, even though those pins were built under Obama.
