On Easter Sunday, Dr. Fauci Champions a Pandemic Approach Sure to Infuriate Some on the Far Left

Just in time for Easter Sunday, Trump coronavirus point man Dr. Anthony Fauci hit upon what, in his view, is a key element in confronting our present pandemic.

As reported by the Washington Examiner, in a CNN interview with Jake Tapper, Anthony shared that his own faith comforts him in this time of crisis.

It’s a foundation that matters:

“You know, I think faith means different things to different people. People with a strong foundation in faith — I think it’s very, very important when you go through serious, really terrible ordeals that the country is going through. I think faith…helps people through this.”

Anthony learned some things from Dear Ol’ Dad:

“I just know my father — who was a man of deep, deep faith, and when there were times in his life and in the life of the country where he needed solace, I mean, his faith was just extraordinary. I was always in awe of him.”

And he’s not the only one:

“[I] think that there are many, many people that way. So faith is a good thing. Science, you have to do what science is, but the faith in how you deal with stress — and we’re going through a historic ordeal right now. People are gonna write about this as a terrible affront on us as a nation to our health and to our well-being. It’s tough, and faith will take an important role.”

As tough as it is, things are looking up: The doctor explained that New York and other viral hotbeds seem to be “flattening the curve.” In fact, the Big Apple’s diagnoses, hospitalizations, and deaths are decreasing.

“[I]t’s starting to turn the corner… It’s, you know, cautious optimism that we are seeing that decrease. … [O]nce you turn that corner, hopefully we will see a very sharp decline. And then you can start thinking about how we can keep it that way and prevent it from re-surging.”

And we’re set for a reopening of sorts:

“[I] think it could probably start, at least, in some ways maybe next month. … We are hoping that at the end of the month, we can look around and say, ‘Okay, is there any element here that we can safely and cautiously start pulling back on? If so, do it. If not, then just continue to hunker down.’”

Trump’s said a bit of the same — The Daily Wire notes that, in briefings this past week, in an effort to balance business vitality with medical recommendations toward that aforementioned hunkering, the President hopes to open elements of the economy on May 1st.

And speaking of the President, what does Dr. Anthony think of holding the November election in our usual way?

It could happen. But the Fall could see a corona comeback:

“[I] hope we don’t have a rebound that would make this very difficult as we get into November. But if we do…and there certainly is a possibility…hopefully, we’ll be able to respond to that rebound in a much more effective way than what we’ve seen now in January, February, March.”

He’s hoping for the best:

“
I can’t guarantee it. I believe that if we have a good, measured way of rolling into this — steps towards normality — then we hope by the time we get to November that we’ll be able to do it in a way that’s the standard way.”

Back to Anthony’s comments on science, it’s good to hear him point out that religion and an objective study of the universe can co-exist.

After Mike Pence held prayer with the Wuhan flu team early on, the online-and-alarmed made it clear they don’t understand such a thing:

There’s so much to say in response to that…but I’ll just leave it at this:
