The #DevosHearing hashtag was going gangbusters tonight as Betsy DeVos took on questions regarding her nomination as Education Secretary.
Here are some of the best:
That awkward exchange with Bernie Sanders.

For those who think DeVos doesn’t support public education.

Of course, the left had a total meltdown at the thought of somebody disrupting the educational establishment.
Just so you know, #BestyDeVos or her children have never attended public school. Odd choice to head Education Department, no?
— Sally Kohn (@sallykohn) January 18, 2017
Actually, it makes perfect sense, Sally. She wants to extend the school choice she had as a woman of means to less fortunate families.
Randi Weingarten, President of the super-powerful union American Federation of Teachers had an outright meltdown. School choice, of course, threatens that power.
At #DeVosHearing -Betsy DeVos demonstrated her primary conviction is to get as many children out of public school as possible.
— Randi Weingarten (@rweingarten) January 18, 2017
Does Weingarten not know that charter schools are public schools? Ignorant or disingenuous? You decide.
Either way, Grover Norquist is right
The Teachers Union leadership do not hate Betsy DeVos.
They hate the idea of parents having a choice in where and how their children learn.

Keeping it classy as always, Sen Elizabeth Warren ended the night in true form:
Betsy DeVos went up to shake Elizabeth Warren's hand, but Warren simply waved her off and walked away. Amazing lack of class.

Some wondered if it was just a native american custom of Warren’s that was being misunderstood.
To be fair DeVos had no blankets or corn to offer her https://t.co/fvCAuSaZPL

DeVos Hearing Twitter was some of the worst Twitter I’ve seen in a long time, and that’s a pretty low bar. It made one thing clear- America’s education system needs a shakeup.
