French President Emmanual Macron said this week that large families are connected to a lack of education. He is quoted as saying:
“I always say: ‘Present me the woman who decided, being perfectly educated, to have seven, eight or nine children.”
I’m sorry, what?
While I can’t speak to his definition of “perfectly educated,” many women were offended by his comments that one would have to be lacking in smarts to choose to have a large family. This has led to the hashtag #PostcardsToMacron in which well-educated women are sending photographs of and tweets about their large families to tell him that they are not mutually exclusive.

@EmmanuelMacron GEM Anscombe, one of the most well-respected philosophers of the 20th century, chose to have seven children. Perhaps you should read some of what she’s written. #postcardsforMacron #DearEmmanuelMacron
