Jewish NYC Councilman Booted for Stating Objective Fact That Palestine Doesn't Exist, Linda Sarsour Exuberant

Earlier this morning, I shared a video put out by Teen Vogue objecting to the existence of biological sex. That was an example of false propaganda winning over objective truth.

Here’s yet another example of such madness.

A Jewish New York City Councilman has been booted from his committee after stating the completely true fact that Palestine does not exist. This has anti-Semite and Democratic thought leader Linda Sarsour really excited.

How is stating simple truth “anti-Palestinian” or “anti-Muslim?”

Here is the original tweet from Mr. Yeger that got this started.

The New York Times reported on the details.

Mr. Yeger’s remarks came after Zainab Iqbal, a journalist for Bklyner, reported that Mr. Yeger had referred to “so-called Palestinians” in a tweet. He responded by calling Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota anti-Semitic. The councilman’s pronouncements led to a cascade of criticism calling his comments “hateful” and “Islamophobic,” and prompted demands for an apology and his removal from the City Council’s immigration committee.

The latest such call came from Mayor Bill de Blasio, who said on Friday that if Mr. Yeger is “not going to apologize, he shouldn’t be on that committee.

According to the United Nations, 137 states bilaterally recognize Palestine.

Here’s a pro-tip. Just because the UN does something, that does not change reality. 137 states in the UN can recognize the moon is made of cheese. It’ll still be a big rock. It’s also worth noting that Palestine does not enjoy equal status with other member states in the UN, so not even in that body is Palestine truly recognized as a fully sovereign state.

Why? Because it’s not and it should not be controversial to say so.

The knee jerk cries of “Islamophobia” are becoming ridiculous. Every criticism of a Muslim is not discrimination. The fact that Bill de Blasio got involved is not surprising but it does show the thuggish politics that pervade New York.

After doing nothing more than speaking the truth about the lack of Palestine’s existence, Yeger was removed from the immigration committee.

On Monday, the City Council’s leadership team met for more than an hour and decided to remove Mr. Yeger from the immigration committee, The New York Times has learned. There was “broad consensus” that Mr. Yeger’s views were inconsistent with the committee’s mission, participants said.

“I do not believe that someone who engages in the type of rhetoric we heard from Council Member Yeger belongs on the immigration committee, which is supposed to welcome and support immigrants in our city,” Corey Johnson, the Council’s speaker, said in a statement.

What any of this has to do with “welcoming” immigrants is a bit of a mystery. Yeger was being harassed by a Muslim activist and responded in kind. He said nothing that could be considered false or harmful. He shouldn’t be held responsible for other’s inability to accept reality.

Linda Sarsour, a New York City-based Palestinian-American activist, applauded his removal from the Council committee.

“This sends a wider message that saying anti-Arab, anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian things comes with consequences,” Ms. Sarsour said.

No, the wider message is that Muslim activists will organize and brutally hound anyone who doesn’t buy into their preferred narrative. They’ll call you racist, Islamophobic, and any other manner of nonsense if you cross them. We’ve seen this happen at the national level with Representatives like Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib attacking their critics as Islamophobic simply for calling out their blatant antisemitism.

For Mr. Yeger’s part, he didn’t back down after being removed.

Not to be too dramatic, but this is fairly frightening stuff. We are now living in an era where objective truth is punished if said objective truth offends the wrong people. Furthermore, the power of certain activist groups to overwhelm those they disapprove of is destructive to basic liberty.

The more influence people like Linda Sarsour have in our institutions, the worse off they are. Her agenda is not pro-American or pro-freedom. It’s pro-Palestinian and her presence in the United States is just a vehicle for her cause. She’s a vicious anti-Semite who would see Israel wiped off the face of the planet if it were her choice. These people need to be exposed, not elevated.

Right now, I can still write all this without too much fear of reprisal. Is that going to be true in ten years? Would it be true today if I lived in New York City? I’m not so sure given the path we are on.
