Mitt Romney’s star may have risen among the left over the past month, at least until he votes for another Trump judge or something, but grassroots conservatives apparently still aren’t fans.

Following his vote to remove President Trump from office, a vote I’ve critiqued numerous times here, here, and here, Romney was booed at CPAC today. RedState was on site for the not so warm greeting to the non-attendant Utah Senator.

This happened during Charlie Kirk’s presentation earlier in the morning.

To be fair, Mitt Romney was disinvited from CPAC, so perhaps it’d normally be a bit much to boo a guy who can’t be there to defend himself. On the other hand, I completely understand the angst. Romney’s vote looks even more nonsensical as the days pass and we face the fact that we nearly removed a sitting president based on supposition and assumption (something Romney fell into given that he originally stated he needed more witnesses to come to a conclusion).

Honestly, I’d have preferred Romney hadn’t been disinvited. It’d have been better to have him show up and try to explain the vote or decide of his own volition to snub the largest conservative conference in the country. It was perhaps a bit of a miscalculation to let him off the hook without making him make that tough decision.

RedState will continue to cover CPAC live from the floor throughout the week. Stay tuned for more videos, interviews, and highlights.
