Thanks to experimental transgender treatments being done to children, a number of people have resigned from a U.K. NHS clinic that treats children suffering from gender dysphoria.

According to the Times of London, the clinic was responsible for administering irreversible or damaging treatments to teens and children as young as three without properly assessing the cause of their gender dysphoria first. The clinic had seen a massive uptick in reported cases of the mental disorder, with only 94 in 2010, and skyrocketing up to 2,519 just last year.

The clinicians reported that they were “under pressure” by the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) to refer children to the clinic for treatments despite not always believing the children needed the treatments. GIDS denies this claim:

The specialists expressed concern that many children decided they wanted to change gender after suffering homophobic bullying. Yet these young people were still referred down the route of hormone treatment, they claimed, without clinicians always exploring the possibility they may simply be gay. One clinician said that she feared the use of hormone therapy for such children could result in a scandal.

The GIDS denies the claims, saying it offers a “safe” service that recognises and respects the complexity of its cases.

The clinicians, who remained anonymous, have reported that they thought they were doing the right thing for children, but quickly turned out to be a nightmare as the treatments were administered to incredibly young children.

“I felt for the last two years what kept me in the job was the sense there was a huge number of children in danger. I was there to protect children from being damaged,” one clinician said.

“This experimental treatment is being done on not only children, but very vulnerable children,” another said.

At this time, the long term effects of these transition drugs administered to the children haven’t been discovered or researched, but the experimental drugs are pushed on those who don’t even need them, reported the Times.
